1981 Yamaha Xj650 MAXIM, 1981 Yamaha Maxim xj650. Very low miles, around 11,100. Newer tires. New battery. Aftermarket seat. Runs great. Carbs were just cleaned. Everything works except the blinkers. 1982 Yamaha Xj750 MAXIM, Selling my baby, a 1982 xj750 maxim cafe racer that I and a couple other mechanics built. The bike has been completely rebuilt too to bottom and is no joke. Custom cafe/brat seat Custom cafe clip one Seca tank Redone brakes Single halogen headlight with Halo lights or turn signals (purple) Updated rider and passenger pegs Updated grips Favorite records used as side panels Rebuilt carbs 45 miles ago Rebuilt motor top to bottom 12k ago Exhaust wrap Under 3k pirellis New petcock Excess tabs removed New starter and solenoid New fork seals Mini speedo Fully adjustable forks by the twist of a knob Modern rear suspension The bike has been gone through top to bottom and is in great shape Constant oil changes (just did one) as well as professional maintenance Never dropped and always garage kept and of course babied Only thing it could use is a new throttle cable (don't absolutely need it right now because I ride it everyday with the one installed now) and the clutch cable which I have. The turn signals all work (front and rear), I just don't have them hooked up because I just hand signal. Plenty more about it that I am forgetting. Come by and check it out! I've put my heart and soul into this gorgeus bike, but it's time to sell it since I'm in the market for a supermoto or buell lightning with cash on top from either party (depending on what it is exactly). My uncle bought it in '85 from Yamaha dealer and barely road it for three seasons, let it sit with gas in the carbs and didn't charge the battery and never got it started. He paid me to get it started for him. Then he did not drain the fuel again and so he gave it to me. Bike has 2,400 original miles. KBB/nada is listed at $1755, but this is better than excellent condition I think its worth closer to $2500 as it is now, so I wouldnt take a penny less that the top of Blue book. I have other bikes if you want something cheap and reliable, this is a gemstone. Not one scratch on it, no rust to be found anywhere. Only a little patina on the engine. I rebuilt the carbs, it was really easy once I cleaned the gas out of it that had sat in there since the 1980's it was thick as molasses! Original complete tool kit pouch and owners manual. This bike is flawless. Put brand new tires on it and a brand new chain, new pads in front. It will need new rear drum shoes probably in a month or two depending how you ride. If you like, I can put new rear pads on for you no problem, I just prefer to use up the ones on there til they get to the "low" indicator on the drum. Well designed bike. Easiest Ive ever worked on. Its two cylinders, so its simple, two carbs, DOHC, 5 speed transmission, 400cc will fly 100mph and keep up on the highway but is really great for bobbing around town. I'm 6'2'' 210 pounds and this is still comfortable and fun for me. I just don't have the space for it! Its so nice, I thought I'd see if there was a collector out there interested in a museum grade every day rider? Or just a newbie or shorter rider or female that wanted a cheap yet reliable, in all intensive purposes NEW bike. ?? Please let me know. Glad to answer any questions.
