1998 Kawasaki Kz 1000, I'm selling my 1998 Kawasaki kz1000 police bike. It has all of the police fairings removed and has a lot of work done to it. The carbs have been removed and rebuilt 2 years ago. It has a new starter. It has a k&n air intake, pingel high flow fuel valve, 4-1 drag pipes, sport bike style handlebars, custom headlight, the analog speedometer and tach have been removed and replaced with an all in 1 digital display. The ignition has been moved to the left side of the bike to clean up the look of the instrument cluster. I haven't ridden it in about 6months so it will need a little tune up and a battery. I am selling my Kawasaki KZ650 because I am out of space and have too many projects, I bought this bike as a barn find and have had the carbs cleaned with new parts installed and installed a new battery. This bike still needs to be worked on before you can ride it, the tires do need to be replaced. The bike starts and runs but it will sometimes drag the starter some and become hard to start, as you know if you deal with old motorcycles sometimes it take a while to get all the bugs worked out after a bike has been sitting, this is such a bike do not expect to jump on it an ride away, it needs a complete check out of all the systems, the motor sounds good and runs very smooth, but it does still need some more tuning to be ready to ride, and may need the carb boots replaced it sounds like it has a vacuum leak, its not perfect but it is all original complete and has some scratches on the tank and the chrome still needs some polish work the exhaust and air box is all original, these 650 are not quite as collectable as the 900 or 1000 Kaws but they are gaining the original seat is in excellent condition as is the frame and wiring, with the original cable ties. buy it and tinker some and it should be a good ride. I have added some pics of the title and the number stamped on the neck, the OHIO title shows more miles than is on the bike this looks like a typo error because the original owner did not make the miles clear on the title and the branch assumes the worst since it is a 5 digit odometer, so the shows the incorrect mileage. The bike is in excellent condition. There is some bluing of the pipes. I'm extremely careful with upkeep of the bike. Oil has been changed every few hundred miles. Starts right up and has been dead reliable. The motor machine work was done by APE using their parts and Wiseco 1075 pistons. Crank has been welded so it won't twist. Heads were lightly ported by APE when they did the machine work. Has APE cams, springs etc. All new charging system and electronics including Dynatek ignition. Frame is powder coated then striped by HotDog. All the sheet metal was painted by world famous Pete "HotDog" Finlan. it was painted with HOK paints. I just put a new set of Pirelli Night Dragon tires on it front and rear. The Dakota Digital guage shows MPH, Tach, Mileage, Trip, High Beam turn signals. It's all hooked up and working correctly. I, Duane Ballard Custom Leather, built the bike in 2013 as one of the invited builders for Born Free 5. The following year it was shipped to Yokohama Japan as a featured bike at the Mooneyes Yokohama Hot Rod and Custom Show. It was featured in the 45th anniversary issue of Street Chopper Magazine. It has also been featured in magazines in Germany and Japan. It can be seen on the Mooneyes 2014 HRCS DVD. It has been used in the Biltwell, Wiseco and Dynatek catalogs. Search "Kosmosaki" aand "Duane Ballard KZ1000" for numerous videos etc about the bike. trying to restore.rebuilt top end end runs good,after a few minutes it smokes from cylinder #2 i think it is a valve seal,or guide.i tore it down to pistons,honed cylinders and replaced std.rings,replaced new timing chain,replaced two rollers that were worn.bought 34mm carbs then rebuilt with new floats.i installed dyna s ignition with new coils and spark plug connectors.replaced advance assembly.sounds real good.installed new front mastercylinder new brake pads,have rear chrome caiper with new pads.recovered seat relpaced front and rear tires.new high torque battery.installed new windshield,i like it.has higher style handle bars.im sure i missed something i put a lot of effort into it for over a year now im ready to let someone else have it.i have new speedometer cable new tach cable 3 oil filters a new key blank not cut.new breathers also.please take it off my hands.i would consider a trade if it dont sell.i dont know the policy.i will deliver this if not too far from augusta georgia.have to discuss fee
