This is a Taylar Motorbike build. It was finished December 8th, 2015. It is not a replica (copy) but a tribute (resembles) a 1914 Thor. This is as good as it gets with tribute cycles. NO PART of this was from a bicycle. It has 100% top of the line components.Powered by a very reliable Honda GC160 4 stroke motor (no mixing fuel) which has been internally upgraded.CVT Belt drive torque converter with upgraded bearings. (No shifting)Upgraded Mikuni carb Stainless Steel exhaust & manifold Custom balanced, milled and polished flywheelKnurled brass caps and machined knurled starter pulleyCustom head modification with Thor style lifter and push tube (polished)Thick wall steel tubing used on entire frame, stays and forks.Custom Thor fuel tank (internally vented) with tank toolboxThor style oiler (can use for storage) with door (keyed)Genuine handmade correct style MESINGER stamped leather seatCycle wheels with heavy duty FRONT and REAR drum hub brakes. (Not bicycle wheels)Period correct Diamond tread tiresThick custom made cables.Heavy duty motorcycle leversStainless Steel nuts/boltsSealed bearings throughoutHeavy-Duty drop stand & clipUtility rear rack / carrier3 piece cranks with sealed bearings and heavy plated block pedalsPowder coated deep Gray & Gloss Black. (10 times thicker and more durable than paint) This cycle has a lifetime registration and comes with a Ca license plate. It can be operated on the roads without a license. Unlike the 49cc 2 stroke bicycle engine, this will get you up to 50 MPH regardless of your weight (unless you're REALLY a fatty!) It has 3 times the torque and thumps like a motorcycle! If you are an interested party I would be happy to send you a very detailed description of all the components. Ebay only allows 12 pictures. If youd like a detailed shot of a particular component let me know. (I am selling this build ONLY. No parts or custom builds being accepted, sorry.) **Free TIP** If you are in the market for a street legal motor/pedal tribute cycle and you intend to ride it: BE SURE... 1. See pictures taken DURING the build before it was painted/powder coated (look at the quality) 2. Make SURE it wasn't made from a cut up Walmart bicycle then painted really cool (99% are!) 3. Don't get one with a Chinagirl 49/66/80cc 2 stroke motor, they are whimpy and sound like a toy. 4. Ask for detailed list of components used (frame, wheels, hubs, spokes, tires, pedals/cranks, steel, type of bearings, brakes, fittings, grade of nuts/bolts) 5. Stay away from sellers claiming they are the best. The best don't "sell themselves"; their customers do! Visit motorbicyling.com, tribute/replica websites & forums and they will let you know who that is. This is a 7 day auction, buy it now only. If cycle is not sold it will be on display at the Riverside Marriott show on Jan 9th. It can be purchased on site or delivery arrangements may be made with deposit. Come by and check it out before you buy! Local pick up-balance paid in person. Will ship at buyers expense once paid for. Ships from Ca 92504 $1000 to be paid (Paypal) immediately after auction complete. Balance to be paid within 14 days in person or by Cashiers Check if being shipped. In Barn-Find original condition! 1967 Gilera B300 Twin Engine #: 31*6061 Frame #: 31*6061 As 1952 rolled into 1953, Italy was the land of mainly single-cylinder motorcycles. A few four-cylinder machines were about, but strictly for the racetrack. Dozens of companies made scooters and little motorbikes, like the Ducati 65 and MV Agusta 98, and there were even a couple of big 500 singles, notably the Moto Guzzi Falcone and Gilera Saturno. Several small twins were on the market, such as the Rumi two-stroke Sport 125 and the Drusiani four-stroke Comet 175, but in the main, singles were in favor. They were cheaper to make and sell, for starters; Italians needed basic transportation in the 1950s, not performance. Also, the government granted a large tax break to purchasers of small-displacement (175cc and under) machines, so there was little impetus to build larger ones. However, this grated on all those Italian engineers whose motorcycles were winning races all over Europe. In 1952 Italian machines had won the 125, 250 and 500 world road-racing championships, Gilera taking the 500cc title with its DOHC in-line four. With a 500cc championship on display, Gilera decided to build a sportier utility bike. In the fall of ’52 Gilera presented its prototype of the B300, a cheerfully competent parallel twin—B for bi-cilindro, or two cylinders. Since the parallel cylinders were inclined forward 10 degrees, it could not be accused of copying the British vertical twins. The B300 used a unit-construction engine, enclosing the four-speed transmission, a much more modern notion than having a remote gearbox. A duplex primary chain ran the power from the crankshaft to the multiplate clutch, which was bathed in oil. Bore and stroke for each cylinder was 60 x 54mm, for a total of 305.3cc. A single camshaft at the front of the engine operated the four valves, with the tried-and-true nut and screw adjusters for setting tappet clearances. The pistons rose and fell side by side in the traditional 360-degree firing fashion of parallel twins. A single 20mm Dell’Orto carburetor took the gas from the four-gallon tank, mixed it with the appropriate amount of air and fed the fuel into the cylinders, where it was compressed at a rate of 6 to 1—Italian gasoline in those post-war years was of the low-octane variety. The spent fumes passed through a pair of shiny header pipes to the rather elegant chromed mufflers. The result of all this was a claimed horsepower of 12.5 at 5,800 rpm. This was a workaday engine, intended for reliability rather than performance, and was mated to a modern chassis using what the Italians called a duplex “open” frame. Two steel tubes came down from the steering head to the front of the engine, with the two mid-frame tubes securing the rear. As we say today, the motor was a stressed member. The rear suspension used a swingarm with Sturcher shock absorbers; the front was a Gilera-made telescoping fork. Wheels were both 18-inchers, with a 3.00 tire on the front, 3.25 at the back, both having 6-inch single-leading-shoe full-drum brakes. Dry weight was a modest 303 pounds. The kickstarter was on the right side, as was the gear-shift lever. The middling-twin prototype was received so enthusiastically that Gilera apparently accelerated the production schedule—the first ones to be sold being listed as 1954 models. Styling was very Italian, with a smoothly sculpted gas tank; a sprung solo saddle added to rider comfort, and an optional passenger pad could be affixed to the luggage rack on the rear fender. However, in the spirit of togetherness a dual seat was soon available. Minor changes were made in the B300 for the 1964 model year. Nothing radical, just a little more compression, a bumpier camshaft and now 15.5 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. The B300 remained in production until 1969. The bike offered here is a good, solid numbers-matching example of this rare piece of Italian style. The odometer reads 13,373 kms or 8,291 miles and I have little doubt from the overall condition of the bike that it is the original mileage. I have not attempted to start it, though it has good compression. The gearbox shifts through the gears, brakes seem to work, rear suspension feels good, but the front will need a rebuild. The paint on the tank looks original, as does the finish on the frame and fenders. Wheels and all cycle parts seem to be original. I don't think this bike has ever been apart. The rear indicators accompany the bike. Generally, it is in good, original condition, but it will need a fair amount of re-commissioning to be a reliable rider. Sold on a Bill of Sale.

THE PORSCHE 550 SPYDER, A VERY BRIEF HISTORY:- The Porsche 550 Spyder was inspired by the original Porsche 356. From 1951, Porsche 356 prototypes were built and raced by Walter Glockler. His successes led to Porsche’s decision to build the first Porsche specifically developed for racing, the 550. The engine was based on the VW Beetle flat-4. It had shaft-driven, twin overhead camshafts, a roller-bearing crankshaft and dual ignition. Displacement was 1498 cc for the 1.5-liter class. Fed by a pair of Solex carbs, it produced 110 bhp at 6200 rpm. With an aluminum, monocoque body maximized for compactness, aerodynamics and lightness, the car weighed around 1300 lb. All the factory 550 Spyders were silver in color. The first three were hand-built prototypes. 550-03 raced as a roadster at the Nurburgring Eifel Race in May 1953, winning its first race. 550-05 was introduced to the general public at the 1953 Paris Motor Show. Over the following years, The Werks Porsche team evolved and raced the 550 with outstanding success and it was recognized wherever it appeared. With the 550, Porsche was the first manufacturer to organize, external, racing sponsorship. The Porsche 550 Spyder became an active participant on European and US championship circuits between 1953 and as late as 1965. Starting in over 370 races, with approximately 95 overall wins and an additional 75 class wins, the Spyder dominated and/or embarrassed more powerful cars from the prestigious racing stables. The cars were well represented at famous circuits around the world and soon became the racing car of choice for privateers, earning the reputation of ‘Giant Killer’. Only 90 cars were built with 78 being sold to the public for motor sport purposes. For such a limited number of builds, the 550 Spyder was always in a winning position, usually finishing in the top three in its class. The beauty of the 550 was that it could be driven to the track, raced and then driven home which showed its incredible flexibility. THE JAMES DEAN SAGA:- For the younger among us, James Dean was a movie idol of the fifties. He starred in the major, movie successes East of Eden, Rebel without a Cause and Giant with the film stars of the day including Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, Sal Mineo, Natalie Wood, Julie Harris, Raymond Massey, Dennis Hopper and others. However, his passion was racing. After a succession of fast cars, motorbikes, street and track races, in 1955, he traded his Porsche Super Speedster for a brand new Porsche Spyder 550. While his racing activities were contrary to the wishes of and his contract with Warner Bros, this did nothing to deter him. After breaking up with girlfriend and film star Ursula Andress he was returning home when, shortly after being cited for speeding, he collided almost head-on with a Ford Custom Wagon. The Porsche was demolished and James Dean died at the scene. At the age of 25 and the height of a movie career, this was, of course, major international news, the side effect of which was the increased, enduring fame of the Porsche 550 Spyder. MY 1955 PORSCHE 550 SPYDER:- My car is actually a 1991 reconstruction by the famous Chuck Beck. Chuck started making them in 1982 and his 550’s are widely acknowledged as being the most accurate and solidly constructed while capturing the very essence of the original 550’s with incredible handling and typical Porsche/VW reliability. Why replicas? They are what us lesser mortals have to aspire to now. Of the original 550’s that still exist, one is in Ralph Lauren’s famed collection of classic cars and another belongs to major Porsche fan, Jerry Seinfeld. The last known, original sale was at a Goodings auction at Amelia Island in March, 2012 for $3.685m – as featured in Keith Martin’s “What’s My Car Worth” on the Velocity channel. Some of the replicas on the roads today have been made to look like James Dean’s “Little Bastard”, as he christened his car. Mine has stayed faithful to the original, Porsche look. The paintwork is almost immaculate with no rust (fiber glass) and no stress cracks but it does have some minor stone chips (I think there are 4!). As you can see from the photos, even the underside is noteworthy. The milometer reflects a tad over 10,000 miles. While I can’t substantiate this, I have absolutely no reason to disbelieve it. 10,000 miles in 24 year equals an average of around 35 miles a month. Just enough to keep everything as it ought to be. The engine is a horizontally-opposed, 4-cylinder of 1,951 ccs, putting out approx. 125 bhp, it’s in excellent condition. It's fed by 2 twin-choke, down-draught Dellorto carburetors with chrome air filters, is fitted with an oil cooler and oil temperature gauge and drives through a trouble-free, 4-speed, manual, gearbox. At 10,000 miles I figured a special servicing was desirable and I have recent, maintenance bills for just about everything to which one needs to pay attention even having the carbureters sent out to be rebuilt. In total, I have spent nearly $6,000 since my purchase. Brakes are the traditional mix of discs in the front and drums at the rear. The front tires are recent Michelin XZX 165SR15 Radials while the rears are Michelin XH4 205/70/R15 95S Radials. The rear wheels have been typically set up with slight positive camber to minimize wear to the inners of the tires under acceleration. With an incredible power-to-weight ratio, both the acceleration and handling are legendary and, with the low height, seating and windshield, the whole experience is “go-kart” -like not to mention the incredible sounds from the exhaust. The engine compartment is beautifully detailed with chrome fittings and is exceptionally clean and well maintained. Paintwork is Porsche silver throughout with a black interior. It has the correct detailing and vintage authenticity. The period gauges and supplementary oil pressure and temperature gauges are operative. There is a copy Nardi, wood-rimmed steering wheel. All knobs are from billet aluminum. The wheels are chromed as are the lug nut covers. There is a center-hood, quick-release, chromed fuel filler. All the lights and their gaskets are in great condition. Security and rain protection are provided by a brand new, black, canvas, tonneau cover. Crow, vintage and little used, racing seatbelts are fitted, five-point to the driver’s side and lap to the passenger’s. Under the hood there is an un-used EMPI tool kit, jack, etc., and tire inflator kit. There are twin, leather safety straps to the rear, clam shell. Traditional rear view is complemented by a matching-color, vintage, Spyder Mach 1 fender mirror, just as the original cars.
