This bike came to our shop in boxes. The tranny was together but the motor was not. A lot of the parts were wrapped in 80s newspaper. It appears it was in storage for a long time. I tried to put it back together as is was. I did replace the tank and rear fender and rear rim. The old tank was welded to the frame and then molded in. I blasted the frame and clear coated it. The engine has good cases that are matching. It has been updated with pan cylinders which was common as they are strong than stock. It has the old go fast trick using falthead 80 flywheels. It has a mild cam that came with it and was in good shape. The rocker date codes seem to match this year too. I used a 12v system. I tried to paint it like the old paint job. The girder was blasted and painted. The frame was mostly welded in brass. Angle iron down the front tubes.It was all molded before but most of it was gone or cracking. the frame was the metal flake blue. The tank is now removeable. It starts and runs good. I added new shafts and crank pin and new bearings. New tappet rollers as well. The orginal oil pump was in really great shape so that was reused and works fine. It does leak here and there. New vales and spring were used in the heads, The cylinders are bored std 80. Pistons used are vintage low compression and she kick starts pretty easy with 120 psi with new rings. I have the SU carb that came with it . I also have the old gas tank. The front rim came with the bike and i used a 70s vintage rear rim the match it as best i could. Both rims are made in italy. It steers a little crazy for ten feet long. I have a clear florida title. Thank you. Its been a fun time assembling this machine. It is not safe with no front brake. Ride at your own risk. This bike is a fxrt that is really stock other than the carb and pipes. The rear tire has lots of tread. Front tire os old. Starts and runs and drive good. I hope someone out there has a rt fairing and saddlebags to make this one stock. Stock paint on the tank is ok shape. Stock air shocks in rear too. Thank you. Joe. This bike is a trade in. Runs and drives like it should. Rear tire is getting low. S&S carb is a plus. Cycle shack mufflers have nice chrome. Dual disc was stock on this model. Still has the police running boards. Hand controls are stock also. This was the first year of the belt drive. Alligator seat was just recovered. Speedo was replaced so miles not correct on that. I hope someone out there has a police fairing and bags to bring this back to stock. New tank and dash. Progressive shocks. Paint is in nice shape. A 1984 restored one went for over 16k recently.
