This is my 48 flathead 45",its as original of a bike that i've come across in a long time, its all oem HD and has been sitting in a barn since '06. This bike starts easy, runs and drives, goes thru all the gears just fine and quiet, clutch feels great, lights all work, high beam low beam, brake light, dash lights, horn makes noise, has original exhaust, bars, grips, j-slot air cleaner with tag,M88 linkert carb which is not original to this year, has glass HD tailight lens which is cracked, original speedo with red pointer but face and numbers were hand painted for some reason, has deluxe seat and #6 high compression aluminum heads which were a 48 option, the front fender light does not work, the front tire is a Goodyear and rear is a Beck, both are old and cracked but hold air just fine,it seems to have been repainted years ago but in the same color red,has one bondo filled dent on rt front bottom of tank, paint is peeling and flaking, primary tin was chrome but painted black and is peeling, chrome looks pretty good underneath, in todays world lots of patina real deal classic. Engine cases have matching numbers and no repairs that i can see, i did find one repair where the generator strap mounts and looks like a very good job, all tins are HD and no aftermarket parts that i can find. I have original keys and clear title in my name. 500.00$ non refundable deposit via paypal, balance in cash or bank-check. Bike can be picked up at my shop in Pa.18360 or if you need shipping it will ship from NY 12550 and i will make sure its loaded correctly, setting up and cost is on your end, bike wont leave till funds clear. Thanks for looking and ask questions

Over the years, the storied builder of America's most coveted bikes has fully tapped our culture, inspiring t-shirts, tattoos and even other vehicles. In short: Harley-Davidson is more than just a motorcycle, it's a lifestyle. That said; it's the motorcycles that keep enthusiasts coming back. Nearly every year, model, frame and engine has its own set of diehards that swear by a particular Harley vision. But, no matter your preference, it's hard to deny the significance of a sweet bike like this 1948 UL Flathead. Restored by one of the best Harley gurus in the country, this world-class scoot is a shining example of why every gearhead loves a HOG. And if you're in the market for a little 2-wheel royalty, it's your first-class ticket to open road freedom! APPEARANCE Originally introduced in 1938, Harley-Davidson's UL Sport Solo line ran the gamut from broad-shouldered cruiser all the way to commercial utility bike. Lovingly restored, and kept on permanent display, this lust-worthy UL hasn't logged any miles since the last wrench was turned on its NOS Harley hardware. A mirror-like coat of black paint serves as the foundation for era-correct scallops that are detailed with red pin striping. At the front of that pigment, the dark vibes start with an NOS Harley fender, which parades NOS Harley trim and an NOS Harley light in front of a correct fuel tank. Simple and classically shaped, that attractive tank, equipped with a factory dash, breaks perfectly in to an NOS buddy seat that's propped on NOS buddy springs. That saddle hangs over a second NOS Harley fender that centers an NOS tombstone taillight behind an NOS Harley bumper. And overall, this UL features classy, retro-cool aesthetics that are sure to age just as well as their high quality components allow. ACCESSORIES Restored to mix timeless visuals with a roster of components that was tirelessly hoarded over many years, this HOG is a virtual Case Study in authenticity. Up front, a correct Springer fork rides between an NOS Beck headlamp, NOS Harley handlebars, NOS Beck throttle grips and a polished brake handle that controls a correct brake system. Behind those bars, NOS Harley pegs, NOS Harley running boards and NOS Harley mats let the rider kick back, stretch his or her legs and chase the sun. Beneath those components, NOS Harley exhaust hangs a finned tip behind NOS Harley slinky covers. And cool bits, like a polished horn, a yellow kick pedal and a vintage fire extinguisher, show that someone really sweated the details. CHASSIS By the late '40s Harley had successfully recovered from the Great Depression and kick started civilian production on the coat tails of World War II. The 1948 model year would be the last to use the Springer fork, but little else changed when it came to the bike's foundation. And, naturally, this UL has been fully rebuilt to era-correct status all the way down to its NOS shock absorber. That stiff suspension is great at ensuring the rider gets an authentic feel for the road. There's an NOS Harley electrical system that works well with an NOS Harley accessory carb choke. And everything rolls on NOS Harley rims, which twist NOS Beck tires around NOS hubs and NOS cadmium spokes. DRIVETRAIN After almost two decades of manufacture, Harley had tweaked their flathead engines into well-tuned running gear. That said; 1948 would be the last year of the Big Twin UL, as it and the brand's wildly popular 'Knucklehead' were replaced by an upgraded V-Twin that would eventually earn the nickname 'Panhead'. That means this bike's original, 74 cubic inch flathead was an interesting rarity even in its heyday. Naturally, that VIN-matched powerplant is outfitted with an array of NOS components, including aluminum motor heads and old school primary covers. Electricity still takes the shape of a 6-volt system, which is augmented with a vintage-look gel cell battery. And behind that zero-mile motor, a correct Harley 4-speed processes commands from an NOS Beck gearshift knob. In addition to great aesthetics, this incredible motorcycle provides an authentic riding experience that's sure to inspire memories for older bikers while creating plenty of adventure for young enthusiasts. Widely considered one of the most exclusive Harleys ever built, it only makes sense that a pristine example of the famed UL Flathead would make its way to the front of our legendary showroom. That means there's only one part of the story left to tell: the part where one lucky enthusiast rides their new classic in to a golden sunset. HARLEY DAVIDSON 1948UL FLATHEAD SIDE VALVE CHOPPER/BOBBER. This is a very nice 1948UL that runs, cranks and shifts great. It has the correct 1947 & 1948 only side valve, Flathead Tanks. The motorcycle comes with a clear North Carolina Title. The front brake needs the cable installed. The carburetor is a Linkert M-344 and the Belly numbers are 48-1397. It has a 12 Volt Electric System and has a 21" Front Wheel. The lights work and the tanks look good inside. The primary is chain driven as stock and as you can see it is a foot clutch with a tank shift. It has the correct Bowleg Harley Davidson Frame but appears to be missing the neck lock. The Exhaust Pipes are NOS. The front end is a Wide Glide and looks to be apx 4" over. This would make someone a very good inexpensive rider.

Ariel, BMW, BSA, Belle Plaine Excelsior Henderson, Harley Davidson, Indian Brave, Indian Enfield, Norton, Royal Enfield, Triumph, to name a few. 1953 Indian Brave. A short history of the Indian Brave: The first Indians were built in Springfield, MA in 1902.The duPont Company took control of the Indian Motocycle Company (yes MOTOcycle) in 1930, but poor profits from too few Army contracts inticed them to sell to Ralph Rogers in 1945. Rogers turned his engineering expertise to small vertical singles and twins, hoping to compete with the British invasion. He continued producing the Chief through 1948, but slowed production of the Chief in '49, concentrating instead on the new bikes. But the new bikes had been hastily engineered and badly produced. Rogers had borrowed heavily from Brockhouse Ltd. in England, who owned Excelsior Motorcycles in Birmingham. In 1950, Brockhouse called in the debt, and divided Indian into separate sales and manufacturing companies.Brockhouse introduced the Indian Brave you see here, which used a side-valve unit-construction engine. Its piston displaced 248.326 cc (76mm x 64.5mm bore). The bike featured a modified Albion three-speed gearbox and put out 8.25 HP. The motorcycle was capable of 50 mph cruising speed, with a top speed of nearly 60 mph, and got 80 mpg.Rogers went out of business in 1953, making the Springfield Indian Company here in America officially bankrupt. But Brockhouse still owned the rights to the Indian name, and was still selling their Braves to Indian dealerships here in America in 1954. According to my research, approximately 14,000 Indian Braves were produced and sold (both here in America and in England), which would make this bike number 7,502 out of apx 14,000.Brockhouse stopped manufacturing motorcycles in 1955 to concentrate on badging Royal Enfields as Indians, and imported these models to the Indian dealerships here in the US until 1960. But that's another chapter in Indian's history. This bike has been completely restored. Crankshaft-to-piston crown and wheel-to-wheel. Everything is new or re-fabricated. The original header and muffler are in very good condition. Mechanically, the bike needs nothing. The title is clear. The original chronometric speedometer is in beautiful condition. But the parts for the speedometer drive are no longer available, so the speedometer does not work. The bike has a wheel-base of 52.06". Tires are 300X18. Seat height is 29" without rider. Handlebar height measures 37" from center of grip-end to the road. Adjusting bars forward or backward will alter this height. Actual wet weight (ride-ready, w/battery, all fluids, 1/8 gallon gas in tank) is 233 pounds. (49% weight on front wheel, 51% of weight on rear wheel) Add 6 pounds per gallon of gas, which may alter front/rear weight percentages. Everything is stock except the piston (Wiseco), chain, sprockets, battery box .... The bike was produced and sold with NO battery box at all, battery just sticking out like a sore thumb. We fabricated a nice-looking, period-correct battery box. Also non-stock are the tires and inner tubes, cables, handlebar grips, many assorted bushings, bearings and gaskets. The seat is period-correct and was on the bike when we acquired it. All the wiring is new, fabricated and covered in period-looking sheathing, routed as we observed in 1953 advertising photos. I assume the handle bar levers are stock, as they look period-correct. They were on the bike when we acquired it. The frame is repainted, the tank and fenders are repainted. The decals are NOS, made in the late 40's/early 50's, purchased from the Indian Owners Club of America. They were very brittle, and we went through three sets before we succeeded, and even then the right side is not perfect. Tank has been clear-coated after the decals were applied.
