For sale is my very rare 1955 KH Harley Davidson motorcycle. Abot 700 made that year. I first saw it when a good friend brought it home to Va. from a swap meet in Pennsylvannia in 1980. It had it's original red paint (Pepper Red?, with white stripe down each side of the gas tank - absolutely correct for 1955) and a broken kickstand spring. That's all we could find wrong with it. May have been a one owner bike. He rebuilt it entirely in the next year from frame up restoration and used only NOS HD parts as he had plenty of HD NOS parts for not only this k model,, but for many vintage Harleys. He also chromed several of the original pieces. I know, some of you purists out there are going to say he hurt the value, but they are still the original parts from it and are in excellent condition. Some of the external parts are the original chrome it came with in 1955, such as the tail light - yes, that's original almost 60 year old chrome - , and lower fork legs, trumpet horn, gas cap, etc. A lot of original polished parts remain with their original polish and stainless steel plating. Also has it's ORIGINAL exhaust pipes and muffler. Unchromed like they were from factory. When we looked it over together in 1980, the only non original part we could find was one of the two bolts under the solo seat was not original. That's the way it was it still is as far as hardware and other original parts on this bike with the exception of the NOS HD parts used in the rebuild. He also painted the tank and fenders a blue color that I did not like at all so I painted them black. I did a substandard job for what this bike deserves, but still better than the blue to me. I just don't like blue. The engine was completely rebuilt including bottom end, transmission, and clutch - again, all NOS HD parts used. As was the whole bike rebuilt too. The cases were polished when apart and still shine today over 30 years later. The bike was sold to another friend of his when he unexpectedly passed away in 1985 along with all his parts, other HDs, etc. There it sat until I bought it about 10 years ago. I put acid in a brand new HD battery given to me then when I bought the bike and it fired right up. It ran and will still run like a new K Model as it only has less than 600 miles on it after the early 80s rebuild. Speedometer and everything else still works on this bike. I have not started it in 6 years, but have kicked it over occasionally to keep everything nice. I connected a battery charger to it today and the headlight, tail light, and brake light all came on no problem. There is no doubt in my mind that if the battery is fully charged and the float bowl taken off and the float pushed up to free it, it will start within 3 kicks. I may even get to that before this 7 day BIN / best offer ends, don't know. NO WELDS, CUTS, NO BS!!!. I'm truthfully describing this BIKE!!! A lot of things I missed, I'm sure. Like that fact I have the original keys (2 different cuts used- one for the ignition, one for the lights) and a spare set of keys I got with the bike too. Every time it sat for over a year while I've owned it, to start it, I would have to take the float bowl off the carb and push up on the float to unstick the needle so it can get gas through it, common for Linkerts. You also do not have to remove the carb to do this, just unscrew the float bowl. Also, I did not clean or wash this bike before I took pictures today as I do not want any water sitting in cavities. Please keep that in mind when looking at pics. Also, being completely honest, there are small areas of surface rust starting on places like the wheel spokes. I cannot sit by and watch these things happen and do not have the time or space to upkeep this bike anymore. It deserves a good home and not a fate my descendants will give it. So here it is. Ask questions, call me - 1-540-247-8460 - make sure you put the "1"in front of the 540 area code - don't know why, but you may not get my cell phone if you don't, you may get someone named Bill who won't know what you are talking about. Please only call between 9 am and 6 pm EST. I believe I have this bike priced fairly - if not underpriced - for what it is according to it's rarity. They made over 125,000 Panheads from 1948 to 1965, only about 6000 K Models from 1952 to 1956 and the first two years of 1952 and 1953 they were 750 CCs, this one is 901 CCs. But there is a best offer option too and I will consider offers, but please don't insult me. All sales final. A $500.00 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of sale through Paypal. The remaining balance has to be in the form of cash or a cashier's check ONLY. And the bike will NOT leave my garage until the check has cleared. The bike is located in Beverly Hills FLORIDA 34465 where I live now and the buyer is responsible for shipping costs, but I will assist in any way I can. Please pay balance within 5 days of sale and pick up motorcycle within 7 to 14 days of cleared payment for motorcycle. Again, I will NOT accept Paypal OTHER than the $500 deposit. They simply take too much out of the sale (3 + percent). Thank you . Bob. Some additional info: 1955 Harley Davidson KHLocated in Beverly Hills, Florida 34465Clear Title on Hand. Some cracking, however. It is almost 60 years old. Original to bike dash with original key switches, original speedometer that is more than likely original miles of 24802 and speedometer still works. (Really, this bike is so original as far as original parts that were on it when new, I can't overstate that enough) Original tool box / battery covers with ORIGINAL Mickey Mouse finger nuts. The gas tank is ORIGINAL to the bike as are the tank emblems. PLEASE NOTE: The left side emblem is cracked, but still held on securely with the original small phillips screws. I do believe I still have a brand new in package set of HD emblems from HD in 1990s for 1955 HDs. If I locate them I will include them, no charge. No firm promise, but I will try and locate them and will update listing if I find them. I preferred the originals even though one was cracked, that's why I never changed them. All nuts, bolts and fastener hardware are original to the bike or NOS HD except for the one aforementioned under seat bolt as far as I can tell and know. And I have owned over 15 Panheads, early sportsters, and k models in the last 40 plus years, I'm 62 and have always owned at least one since I was 19. Correct, steel, oil and fuel lines. Thanks again and good luck. Bob.
