This is a 1963 Harley Sportster XLH Arlen Ness Digger style chopper. This motorcycle has a clear Texas title in my name. The mileage on this motorcycle is unknown as it doesn't have an odometer. This bike is a rebuild project I bought a few years ago that regrettably I must now part with. It ran when I bought it but had low compression in both cylinders. It has been parked ever since awaiting a rebuild. 1. The front wheel is a 19" spool wheel with a Avon Speedmaster tire in good condition. The chrome on the rim, like most of the chrome on this bike, is in decent aged condition, but does have some pitting and light rust in places. 2. The front end is a Arlen Ness/Century springer in good condition. The chrome on the springer is generally in good condition but does have cloudy areas, scratching, some small areas of loss at the rockers, and some very light rust spots on the top clamp. 3. The headlamp is a ZEL Bates style light. The chrome is in good condition, but the mount is a little bent, and there are some dings around the bezel. 4. The handlebars aren't the original Ness bars. I don't know who made them. 5. The carburetor is a Mikuni on a Branch manifold, the throttle is a NOS Barnet single cable. 6. The frame is a 66 or earlier Harley frame with a Ness hard head installed. The frame has been molded, and the foot peg mount has been cut off of the right side. 7. The motor is a 1963 XLH. As I stated above the compression is low in both cylinders. I haven't had the top end off of the motor, so I don't know the condition of the lower end. The cases have been pretty extensively polished in the past. The number pad on the left case was a little over polished which removed most of the first number in the VIN. The sprocket cover has been welded, and so has the primary cover under the left foot peg. The right foot peg is mounted on an aftermarket shifter which someone welded to the shifter shaft. It will require some grinding to remove it, and probably a new shifter shaft when you're done. The clutch components are stock Harley XLH with a compensating sprocket. The transmission trap door is aftermarket. I haven't been into the engine or transmission so I don't know if there are any other aftermarket parts installed. The generator is stock Harley, and has been chromed. The carburetor is a 38mm round slide Mikuni on a branch manifold which probably needs to be rebuilt. The rocker box bolts have been countersunk in the rocker boxes. The engine sumps a lot of oil. 8. The gas tank is a Ness Rocket tank in excellent condition with its original cap. 9. The oil tank is a Ness/Bob Munroe tank, with cap, in excellent condition. There is some scratching in the chrome. 10. The seat is Ness in almost new condition. No holes or wear. 11. The struts I'm pretty sure are Ness. The chrome on these have some surface scratching and cloudy spots. . 12. The rear fender is Ness in excellent condition. 13. The rear wheel is a period 15" Centerline with a Michelin radial car tire mounted. 14. The rear master cylinder is Grimeca and I believe it, and the caliper, are newer additions. I don't know who made the caliper. The brake isn't working, and the caliper and/or master cylinder probably need to be rebuilt or replaced. 15. The pipes are newer, and don't fit the bike well. This motorcycle sits pretty low, 3 1/4" at the front motor mounts, and the front pipe and the pipe bracket hang below the frame rails. They don't leave much ground clearance. I can provide more pictures or information if needed. My name is Andrew and I can be reached at 972 268-1138 if you like to communicate the old fashioned way. This motorcycle is located 30 miles south of Dallas in Ennis Tx. 75119. If you are an overseas buyer I won't undervalue your purchase on customs forms, so please don't ask.
