The Commando was produced by the Norton Motorcycle company from 1967 until 1977 and won several awards, including Motor Cycle News "Machine of the Year" award for five successive years from 1968-1972. This classic cafe racer has all original parts except the carbeurator, handlebars and wiring harness (no Lucas - that's a good thing!). It starts on the first kick on most days and has been maintained regularly. I'm happy to provide detail pictures or any further information about the bike. My father and I worked on about every part of this excellent machine, and it is a joy to ride!

1972 Norton Commando 750 , 1972 Norton Commando $11,500. Upgraded and lightly modified to maintain a mostly original appearance. This machine has won numerous top awards at national rallies. Despite being a show winner, it was really built to ride. Power, handling and suspension compliance rivals many modern bikes. With effective isolastic vibration control, a comfortable seat and mildly set back foot peg location it rides and handles great on back roads and has power to spare on the interstate. The electrical wiring is mostly soldered and sealed with extra grounds. I purchased the bike in 2005 from the restorer and have only ridden a few hundred miles on it (I have several other modern bikes). It has never failed to start and never broken down, and in fact has run perfectly since the day the Amal carbs were swapped out for a single Mikuni carburetor in 2006. The most recent repair was to replace a slightly leaking head gasket at which time cylinder bores looked perfect. There are many stainless steel fasteners and components including rear set foot peg brackets and spokes. It is titled as a 1971 due to Ohio taking its manufacturer plate dating following its restoration, but was surely sold as a 1972 model. Very clean and original Commando in excellent condition. The bike has been well maintained and has received many nice updates over the years. Akront alloy rims with stainless spokes built by Buchannan Wheel & Spoke, hydraulic steering damper, electronic ignition, and an anti wet sump valve. The bike starts and runs better than new. Clock says 13035 miles which looks right on an original Norton clock but I cannot verify. I have owned the bike for about 18 months, I bought it from an older gentleman who had not been using it so much so I had it fully serviced (invoices available) and replaced both tires and tubes as well as the kickstart gear linkage which was not quite right. Also had the carbs rebalanced and new tickler sets just to be safe. It runs well, changes cleanly and goes as a Commando should. I'm selling three of my classic bikes - look for a beautiful 1970 Bonneville and 1976 BMW R09/6 elsewhere on eBay - call me for a 3-in-1 deal! David

For your consideration is a beautiful example of a '72 Norton Commando Combat edition. This bike is sorted. 1 kick start as you can see in the attached video. Upon review the bike seems to have an unlimited parts list, though I'm sure there is a bottom somewhere... A joy to ride and even better to listen to with the original Dunstall pipes. This bike was made to a cafe style, though I think that term is overused nowadays.. Condition is very hard to describe. I would say it is likely the best rider condition one could find, but not Concours. The pictures and video probably should do more of the talking...
