This is not a barn find, it is a basement find. Was originally bought for a young girl whom kept it from new until I bought it from her. There has been no paint sprayed on it anywhere to try to hide anything. The only things that are not original are the petcock, carb, spark plug, and battery. Has the original tool kit. Gas tank has been sealed. Matching numbers. Extremely nice original condition with 1283 miles, yes I said 1283 original miles! Starts on the 1st or 2nd kick. Purrs like a cat. The original tires have lots of tread, but do have some cracking. They do not leak. The horn works when motor is revved up. The lights work and get brighter when revved up. The blinkers light up and get brighter when revved up but do not blink. Drives and shifts like it should. The winning buyer will not be disappointed with this motorcycle. mattterri Store This is a very nice 1973 Yamaha RD350. The bike runs very well, starts on the 1st or 2nd kick. It idles nicely, and just the proper faint amount of 2 stroke smoke. It has 6037 miles on it as of today, but this may change a little, as I do ride this bike. It is too much fun not to ride. A lot of time and money has been put into this bike over the last 2 years. It has a professionally done very nice paint job, done in a similar scheme as a 73 Yamaha TX style. It is glass smooth and shines very nice (no orange peel, runs, or bad spots). The seat upholstery is original and in nice condition, with no rips or tears. The chrome is decent and looks nice, but it is 43 years old, and does have the usual light pitting as would be expected. There is one small scrape on the right muffler at the rear about the size of a dime (see pics). The bike has been fully serviced, and needs nothing at this time. The engine has excellent compression, no piston rattle noise, and runs very well. Clutch works properly, and trans shifts into all gears as it should. Below is a partial list of recent work performed and parts installed: 1. Front brake system flushed, caliper rebuilt with new seals, master cylinder rebuilt with new seals. 2. Gas tank cleaned and properly sealed with Caswell tank liner (will never rust, and will never flake loose like Kreem liners) 3. Located in Northern Virginia Details: 1973 Yamaha RD350 (Restored) First owner restored over a few years, then sold it to the second owner in 2006, which then I bought earlier this year. 1st Owner did these things: Complete tear down New top end Expansion chambers Boost Tube K&N air filter with 2 into1 boot Steering damper (adjustable) Powder coated fenders Modern Nissin front master cylinder Period correct very rare Asahi-Denso gas gauge (works surprisingly well) Seat Cover 2nd Owner did these things: Top end rebuild (1,300 miles on it) New Progressive fork springs New Progressive rear shocks New K&N intake filter New Wiseco Pistons New throttle cables New fuel filters and lines A bunch of powder coated stuff Modern O-ring chain Front and rear sprockets (Around stock gearing) CRG mirror Cleaned up the wiring Biltwell grips Battery tender lead wired in Stuff that I did: -Tarozzi clip ons (drag bars and bracket included) -Tarozzi rear sets (stock pegs, kickstarter, and brackets included) -MZB Digital Ignition System (Replaces entire charging system as well to 12V/150W) -New Plugs (NHK B8HS) -Candlepower Halogen Headlight (55/60W) - Super bright! -Brand new Avon Roadrider Tires front and rear (100F/110R, but the chain guard is already ready for a 120 rear if you'd like) -Modern battery (though you don't need it, bike will start first kick even if it's drained completely, points system drain and bump or kick start is impossible, not so with the MZB!) -Cleaned up wiring a bit more, wired in some more fuses, installed a toggle ignition kill switch Blinkers and misc. stock parts are included in a box, along with manuals etc. Oil injection is flawless so no pre-mixing required. Flaws: -Small gasket leak on left side (might be from being on kickstand though), runs like a beast no problem. Compression is about 120 on both sides. -Wheel perimeters got a little chewed up on the tire installation, it looks polished underneath -Small ding where the left clip on bracket meets the tank, resulted from a slow tipover during maintenance. Can be PDRed easily. -Too much attention from vintage loving women, especially young city females...(and men haha) Other notes: -30 MPG -Highway is no problem -Two kicks to start max, 99% is first kick start, sometimes like...half a kick, a little choke and winter starts are no issue. -I think it's perfect as it sits now, not sure what else you'd do to it. Maybe a cafe seat if you want to go that route. Clean and clear title in my hand. $4,500 obo, no trades.
