SOLD....1976 BMW R90S Daytona Orange. Km Speedo. 10K Service, New Rings 1976 BMW R90S, Daytona Orange. Km Speedo. 10K Major Service, New Rings, Cam Chain, Engine Seals, Battery + Much More! First we Inspected the motor lower end, and found all is good. Then we did a light hone and replaced the rings. We Inspected the valve guides and found them good too. We decarboned the Heads and lapped the valves for a perfect seal. Then we resealed the top end, including new pushrod seals. We replaced the Cam Chain, Chain Tensionors, and resealed the cam chain cover. Then we installed a new rear Main Seal, inspected the oil pump, installed new o'rings and Flywheel bolts. Inspected and cleaned the clutch; all Good Condition. Installed a new Clutch Cable. We rebuilt the Front Forks, and installed new Steering Neck Bearings. We mounted & Balanced 2 New Metzeller Tires with New Tubes. We rebuilt the pair of Del'Orto Carburetors, and installed New Needles, Needle Seats, Floats, and Accelerator Pump Diaphragms. Then we Installed new throttle cables. We also rebuilt both petcocks. We performed the BMW Factory Recommended 10K (Major) Service; going over the entire bike. We installed new points, plugs, condensor, Spark Plug Wires, Oil Filter, and Air Filter. We also installed original Continental braided cloth covered fuel lines with inline fuel filters. New front Wheel Bearings & Seals. Inspect,& service rear wheel bearings, with new seals. We rebuilt the front brake Master Cylinder, and installed a pair of new front brake Braided Stainless Brake Lines We cleaned and inspected both the front and the rear brakes and found them in good condition. We installed new "S" Handlebars and Magura Grips. Then we disassembled, cleaned, polished, and reassembled the rear shocks, installing new Heavy Duty rear shock Springs The fuel tank had previously been re-sealed, poorly, with "Kreem" tank liner. The Kreem was detaching and flaking out of the fuel tank. We removed the bad ?Kreem? with acetone, then properly etched the fuel tank inside, and re-coated the tank with POR15 Fuel Tank Sealer. Then we had to touch up the front section of the fuel tank where the Acetone removed all the original paint. We couldn?t ?touch-up? and get a good job with the original colors, so we just repainted an inverse ?V? shape with silver paint as being the least objectionable way to cover the bare metal without a full repaint. We removed the Instrument Pod, disassembeled, cleaned, and Serviced the Tach and Speedo. The speedometer is a European unit that registeres in Kelometers. The 89,259 Km showing, translates to 55,463 Miles. The clock and volt meter both work properly. We Polished & Detailed the entire bike, polished the Aluminum Rims, and painted a pair of battery covers satin black (the original covers were missing). The exhaust is clean and solid; the only flaws are the stains on the front crossover, and a ding near the rear of the right side muffler. The transmission is quiet, and shifts easily in every gear. The engine and chassis numbers match. There is a tool tray, but no tool kit. The key fits the ignition and the seat lock, but not the steering neck lock. There is a noticeable scuff on the left rear edge of the "S" cockpit fairing. We did a couple of test rides, and then we took the bike out and seated in the new rings for 500+ miles. Then we retorqued the heads, readjusted the valves, rechecked the timing and resynced the carburetors, plus an oil and filter change. The bike is now ready to ride until the next service interval in 5,000 miles. This bike is seriously fun to ride! The Del?Orto carburetors really make the motor respond to the throttle. The ride is smooth, yet the suspension is up to hard cornering. Adding a passenger just makes the motor run smoother with the extra load. The R90S is unique and superior when compared to any other BMW produced before 1985. Every fuel stop and every time you park it in public, you will draw interested people. Despite the patina and paint issues. This is one very classy ride! We would be happy to answer any questions you have about this BMW motorcycle; please call us at 614.837.1160.
