The Triumph is a 1977 T140V Bonneville 750cc. Twin 930 Amal carbs, disc brake front and back. Its an unrestored old bonnie that has a lot of new parts(battery, rear master, seat cover) tank and fenders were painted two years ago. I bought it hoping my dad would go on rides with me so set it up for a weekend rider. He never rode more than a few times. I bought it from a friend who had it 30 years and looked after it and didn't ride it very much the last ten years.

Matching numbers 1978 Triumph TR7RV First introduced in 1937 as a '500', the Triumph twin underwent one of the longest development processes in motorcycling history before emerging as a '750' some 30-plus years later. This final phase of Triumph twin development began late in 1972 with the first appearance of the new enlarged-to-750cc version of the Bonneville and TR6, the increase in bore size necessitating a new crankcase to accommodate the larger barrel. Other improvements included a new ten-stud cylinder head, triplex primary chain, stronger transmission and a disc front brake. A five-speed gearbox, introduced on the preceding 650 Bonneville, was standard equipment on the 750. Despite the age of the basic design and strong competition from Japanese and European manufacturers, the Bonnie and its single carb sister the TR7, remained for many years the UK's top-selling 750 and was voted Motor Cycle News 'Machine of the Year' in 1979. The bike offered here was built in November, 1977, and remains a matching numbers 1978 model, offered as a great riding bike in very good all ‘round condition. But then look closer at the nuts and bolts and see the lack of wear and it becomes apparent how original the bike is. A few mods over the years are apparent – the exhaust for instance, but the basic bike remains untouched. Paint is very good with a couple of very minor scratches on the tank. The inside of the tank looks almost new. Original fenders, wheels and other cycle parts are all excellent. From the general condition, I would surmise that the bike has been in long-term good storage and that the indicated 12,000 miles is genuine. The bike runs well with good power, and shift through the gears well with a good clutch. Brakes and suspension work as they should, as do all electrical components. The bike is freshly serviced.
