1978 HARLEY DAVIDSON SPORTSTER XLH 1000 This sportster does come with a R title because of previous flood history. I bought this bike at auction a couple years ago and have rebuilt the whole bike. Almost everything on the bike has been replaced from the wiring to a rebuilt engine. I even changed the swing arm bearings to give you an idea of how much was done. The bike was originally built to resemble a super glide with the fatbob rear fender and split fatbob fuel tanks. The engine is not stock and does have some nice upgrades. It has Leineweber L1 cams. The heads have been done with PM springs, guides and valves. It does have stock pistons which really help with kick starting it. An S&S E carb is on the bike. As far as the electrical goes all the wiring has been replaced and a new starter and generator. It has a Dyna Igniton. All the lights and gauges work. The speedo has the wrong drive gear and jumps when you reach higher speeds. The dummy lights for the gen/oil both work. The turn signals and hi/lo beam work. It will need a horn as the one on the bike stopped working. The bike starts on either the starter or kick start. The bike runs great and sounds even better. The cams give it a unique cracking sound unlike any other Ironhead I have had before. The engine has 500 miles since the rebuild the odometer shows 7k+ miles but it will be sold and the title will read Mileage Exempt. The tires have plenty of tread but are showing signs of dry rot on the sidewalls. The paint is in excellent condition as well as the chrome and aluminum. The tank is clean inside. 1978 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1000 , 1978 Harley-Davidson 1000 Sportster XLH Anniversary Edition. This is not your Dads old AMF Ironhead that he learned to work on! As a special edition Sportster designed personally by Willie G. Davidson to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson, this is one of a limited edition of only 2323 bikes out of 40,000 that year. This is an extremely original survivor, having only 15 thousand miles on the odometer! Show judges could use this bike as a reference! A featured model in the Harley-Davidson Motor Co. Archive Collection, this is a genuine made in the USA special edition that is sure to continue to appreciate in value. The bike came dressed out in black, highlighted in gold. There is a gold and black Anniversary nameplate. The fenders, gas tank, and oil tank were all pinstriped by hand in gold at the factory. The wheels are the original 9-spoked cast wheels, finished in gold. Everything on the bike is 98% factory original, with very little signs of age. There is a small (quarter-size) indentation that is barely seen in the right side of the gas tank, and there are minor chips that have been touched up, and the expected patina of 15k factory original miles. The exhaust has been replaced with an original that is pretty fresh (new muffler, header not blued yet), and we have the old set saved to go with the bike. The original Owners Manual is included. This motorcycle can be purchased as a set with the matching 75th Anniversary FLH Electra Glide for sale by the same owner. A package deal for both bikes is possible. $10,500.00

Many new parts include, Cycle electrics generator, progressive rear shocks, Single fire electronic ignition, Milwaukee twins exhaust. Brand new AGM battery and starter relay. Front tire has less then 500 miles on it. Brakes are good and front master cylyner is rebuilt with fresh fluid. New clutch cable. Trans was rebuilt by Iron cycles of Jamesburg and she shifts like a dream. The bad, Rear tire and rear wheel bearing needs to be replaced and the rocker boxes leak a little. . 1978 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1000 , I recently completed the restoration of my Sportster. But due to my busy schedule I'm not finding the time to enjoy it. Less than 50 miles on the bike since completed. Here are the details: VIN 3A23348H8 Frame Off restoration. Frame powder-coated black. New genuine Harley Davidson wiring harness. New Fork Tubes and seals. New front disc caliper, master cylinder, and brake line. Rear brake rod replaced, and brakes checked and adjusted. New front and rear brake switches. New swingarm bearing and race, and triple tree/fork bearings and races. New front and rear wheel bearings. New Headlight, Battery, oil lines, chain checked, oiled, and adjusted. Dynatech electronic ignition checked, as well as new plugs and wires. Gas tank with Por 15 sealer and new petcock/fuel line. New O-rings on front foot pegs for grip. New aftermarket hand grips New OEM style gauges Cool Harley custom rear pegs. Replaced all turn signal lights with updated ones. Every button on handlebar is new. (start/lights/turn sig, horn, etc) New Chrome switch housing, switch decals, and rear brake handle on handlebar. New Speedo, Tach, and oil-filled oil pressure gauges. HD custom triple-tree handlebar clamp and "signature" mirrors. New aftermarket handlebar grips and cool raised-white-letter tires. Exhaust is open and loud. Shaved front fender parking light. (fender not mounted), and new Tombstone light on rear fender. LED "active" bulb in rear light. Moves around in a pattern while u are riding. Both fenders, oil tank, and gas tank have been repainted a Harley metallic black. Mustang "bobber" seat treated with high quality leather treatment and is beautiful. Original leather pouch mounted on triple tree is not installed, but I have it. Really cool chrome square-spoke wheels that no one else has! American Twin Performance checked out the engine, adjusted valves and other components, installed and pre-loaded all bearings, rebuilt S&S Super Shorty carb, wired up new lights, and made some pretty cool bobber seat mounts. Mike's Cycle Shop installed new wiring harness, lights, battery, tires, oil tank and lines, tires, brakes, and handlebar grips. Great South Harley Davidson replaced all of the handlebar switches, replaced the rod for the rear brakes, new front brake caliper and brake line, new plugs and wires. I've got over 3000.00 in receipts that I found so far. Still haven't found the Mike's Cycle Shop receipt for approx. 800.00, the 200-300.00 cost for powder coating, several hundred in paint work, and all the parts that I have purchased for the bike.
