1978 Kawasaki KZ650D SR: For sale is a bike I am very fond of. I found it in a garage after having been neglected for 15 years. The changes I made were designed to update the look with cafe racer inspiration and make it a little more aggressive in stance without losing the vintage look and feel. Over the past two years here's a list of the work I've done:New tubes and tires, a lot of chrome and metal polishing (not perfect, but very presentable), painted front forks, rear wheel bearings, fork gaiters, rebuilt front and rear brake calipers, new front and rear pads, new Nissin front brake master cylinder, lever and stainless steel braided front brake lines, removed old 4-way tree which was awful and now is easier to bleed, has an easier brake pull, added stopping power and electronic brake light signal instead of old pressure switch. New mirrors, new handlebars, new grips, lubed and greased all cables, new front and rear mini bullet blinkers, new mini brake light, new mini speedometer and tach, headlight bulb and wiring, fuses, a lot of new wiring, rebuilt carbs, fresh air filter, new spark plugs, new coils (over $300), complete valve job, petcock, fuel sending unit. Built custom bracket for right side to add messenger bag. New springs for rear brake return and side stand. Many visible bolts replaced with new stainless allen head bolts for looks and easier and quicker access than 3 sizes of socket wrenches. You can see I left the crash bar on the front because it is an extra safety in parking lots and protects the engine in case of a drop. It's your choice to leave it on. Equipped with side stand and center stand which is super helpful for doing work. All work done by me with factory service manual and proper torque wrenches. The gauges are backlit and have indicators for Neutral, Oil Pressure, blinkers, high beams. Although I abandoned trying to get the low fuel light to work, I left the wire lead there so if you want to try adding an LED to it you could probably figure it out if inclined. Actually very easy to do.There is one 1.5" dent on the front left of the gas tank, above the Kawasaki and a few paint chips around the front edge where it meets the steering column. This bike rides amazingly well and I have babied it the whole time I've owned it. Smooth shifting, smooth throttle, solid stopping with the three disc brakes. The only rust is on the exhaust header pipes. When I found her she had only 8,500 original miles!! I have put only 1,000 on her, new speedometer only has 340 miles. The range is about 120+ miles per tank. I usually fill up at 90-100 and reset the trip at fill up. Never crashed or dropped. I am selling because I am moving over to an adventure style bike and I live in a complex with limited parking and no garage. Believe me, I would keep it if I could garage it. So the price is pretty solid as she's well worth the money. I brought her from CT when I moved, but have clean Colorado title.

1978 KZ 650. I purchased, built and restored with period correct upgrade / mods like velocity stacks, cafe fairing, powder coated wheels, polished engine covers and brake calipers, KZ 900 tail light, bullet turn signals, headlight grill, fork gaiters, 4 - 1 exhaust etc. The frame and body is a 1978 KZ 650 B2 (gorgeous) and the motor, braking system (dual front and single rear disc) and wheels are from a low mileage 1981 KZ 650 SR D. I combined the best parts of both bikes to create an awesome ride. I am very meticulous and gave the bike the best of everything. She needs nothing. New everything from the to the chain to the tires... All seals, no leaks, bullet proof internals. You can drive her anywhere. I changed the front and rear sprocket to alter the gear ratio for bigger top end. Highway friendly now, I take on 2 hour round trips from my home in Orlando to Daytona Beach at once a month. Head turner is a huge understatement. No disappointments. I love building bikes and hot rod cars and am ready for a new project. I don't do it for profit as I always lose money when I sell because I am to meticulous and always invest to much in my projects, I do it for the pleasure of creating something great. I know I will regret letting her go, I always do. I wish I had them all back... The first person to see her will buy her. That's the way all my toys go. Comes with tons of parts... club man cafe handlebars and short cables along with end bar mirrors for a different look and feel (I go back and forth between) and misc. original equipment. The bike is for someone who has great taste and that can afford her. Period. There are plenty of other bikes on Ebay if your looking for a bargain. This is a special bike. I'd rather just store her and start my next project than give her away or haggle with someone. You'll understand when you see her. Thanks.

This is not another supposed low mileage barn find that still has to have countless hours of labor plus the inevitable investment cost for new parts before it is actually operating correct and dependable again, as all that has already been done by a professional motorcycle technician. This motorcycle is a detailed, functional, and dependable daily rider that was built to operate and enjoy, this is not an exact restoration to all original factory specifications museum piece for viewing only. This historic motorcycle will still turns heads and start conversations every time you take the bike out for a ride. Includes but not limited to: hammer-finish black/brown powder coat frame and parts, polyurethane blue paint with pin stripe and clear coat flat fuel tank bearing a Kawasaki H2 type sticker, Dyna electronic ignition system, Dyna ignition super coils, Dyna 7mm spark plug wires, 4 into 1 Vance & Hines chrome exhaust system, Barnett racing clutch kit, DynoJet stage 3 carburetor kit, individual pod type K&N air filters, Speigler braided steel brake lines, EBS brake pads, Marine grade black vinyl hand-sewn seat, Pingel fuel valve, Pingel dragster handlebar, Progressive Suspension rear shocks and front fork kit, Shinko tires, Sunstar sprockets and chain, new battery, low mount mirrors, plenty of new fasteners, seals, gaskets, and rubber parts, a Clymer repair manual, and even an original Kawasaki factory service and repair manual. No warranty or guarantee is offered or implied on this motorcycle by the seller, please inspect prior to purchase. Yes, I have all 4 of the original signal lights for the new owner, as they are not required under Arizona motor vehicle regulations, I left them off the bike. Yes, parts are available for this bike via Kawasaki dealerships, after-market suppliers, vendors online, and via Ebay. The availability of the 1970's era Kawasaki Z-series motorcycles has been steadily declining for many years, this is an opportunity to own a decent example.
