PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION & PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE THEM TO ENSURE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. PLEASE ASK QUESTION BEFORE YOU BID / BUY 1978 YAMAHA DT-250 THIS BIKE HAS BEEN IS ADULT OWNED & SEASONALLY RIDDEN APPROXIMATELY 1K MILES IN MONTANA OVER THE PAST 11 YEARS . GARAGE KEPT WITH PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP. ONLY TWO OWNERS TO MY KNOWLEDGE. THE BIKE JUST EMERGED FROM ANOTHER MONTANA WINTER. I WILL DESCRIBE IT TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY AS I HAVE SPENT AN AFTERNOON RIDING, TRYING OUT ALL THE SWITCHES, CONTROLS ETC, EXAMINING AND TAKING NOTES. ALTHOUGH I HAVE A SHORT LIST OF IMPERFECTIONS, MAKE NO MISTAKE.....THIS IS A VERY NICE OLD YAMAHA AND IS FOR SALE WHERE IS, AS IS WITH A CLEAR, NOTARIZED, UNASSIGNED MONTANA TITLE. FIRST THE GOOD: VERY LOW MILES AND USE. IT HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED IN ANY WAY. SEAT COVER IS BRAND NEW BY PROFESSIONAL ON TOP OF GREAT ORIGINAL FOAM. INSIDE OF TANK IS LIKE NEW AND HAS NEVER BEEN TREATED. NO BROKEN PLASTIC. HEADLIGHT HI / LO WORK FINE. TURN SIGNALS WORK FINE. HORN WORKS FINE. SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER AND TRIP METER ALL WORK. FRONT AND REAR BRAKES STOP THE BIKE WELL. TIRES ARE GOOD, HOLD AIR FINE AND DO NOT HAVE ANY WEATHER CRACKING. OIL INJECTION WORKS AS IT SHOULD. TACHOMETER WORKS. OIL LIGHT ON TACHOMETER WORKS LIKE IT SHOULD. TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR WORKS. NEUTRAL LIGHT WORKS. KILL SWITCH WORKS. IGNITION WORKS FINE. CHOKE WORKS. CABLES ARE GOOD. PETCOCK WORKS FINE. CHROME IS VERY NICE AND STRAIGHT. NO RUST ISSUES. VERY NICE EXHAUST FROM END TO END. COMES WITH TWO SPROCKETS (ONE FOR TRAIL AND ONE FOR ROAD). ENGINE AND FRAME #'S MATCH. TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH WORK GREAT. ENGINE KICKS ON FIRST TRY 98% OF THE TIME. ENGINE IS ORIGINAL CONDITION, NEVER ANY REPAIRS & SOUNDS, IDLES AND RUNS GREAT. WIRING IS ALL GOOD. NO ENGINE OR TRANNY LEAKS AT ALL. ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS.....IT LOOKS VERY NICE OVERALL. NOW THE NOT SO GOOD (DON'T WORRY..ALL MINOR STUFF): FRONT FORK SEALS ARE LEAKING FINALLY. PAINT IS SHOWING IT'S AGE. THERE ARE 2 CRACKS IN THE TAILLIGHT LENS (BACK AND BOTTOM) BUT NOTHING MISSING. RUB ON TOP OF HEADLIGHT RING. LEFT GRIP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (ATE BY A SQUIRREL SO SLIPPED ONE ON FOR PHOTOS). RIGHT FRONT SIDE REFLECTOR IS LOOSE (BROKEN PLASTIC WHERE IT SCREW ONTO THE MOUNTING STUD. RUB ON SPEEDO HOUSING . SIDE COVER RUBBER GROMMETS ARE NOW RUBBER HOSE AND ARE NOT ORIGINAL. THE RESET ON THE TRIP METER ONLY SEEMS TO RESET MILEAGE ON MILE AT A TIME. BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. AIR FILTER I AM SURE NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. CARBURETOR CLEANING AND ADJUSTMENT FOR ALTITUDE IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE BIKE RESIDES AT 6500 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL. DINGS IN THE TANK AT RIGHT FRONT TOP AND LEFT FRONT BOTTOM AS PICTURED. TAILLIGHT DOES NOT WORK BY FOOT PEDAL OR HAND LEVER BUT BULB APPEARS TO BE GOOD. NO TOOL KIT. HAS ONLY ONE KEY & NOT ORIGINAL. BRAKE PEDAL GOT OUT OF ADJUSTMENT AND PUT A SMALL RUB ON THE SIDE COVER AS PICTURED. FRONT FENDER APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN PAINTED BLACK AT SOME POINT. HIGH BEAM INDICATOR BULB NOT WORKING. BIKES IN THIS CONDITION ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN. THIS BIKE HAS HUGE POTENTIAL AS A FULL RESTORATION PROJECT OR WILL PROVIDE MANY MILES OF USE WITH A LITTLE MAINTENANCE IF YOU SEE SOMETHING I MAY HAVE MISSED OR HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK.
