This 1978 Yamaha DT250 motorcycle is in very good condition. Motorcycle shows 1694 miles on the odometer. Not sure if the speedometer/odometer are original. May be new/old stock. Bike runs nice. This 2 stoke classic is equipped with oil injection. Just had the top-end professionally rebuilt and new clutch installed. It has a new battery and all the lights work. Tank has no dents! Shifts through all the gears smoothly and is ready to go! Very nice condition for a 37 year old motorcycle. Tires have been replaced and are in very nice condition. This is a 1978 Yamaha SR500. It is mostly stock but stripped down a bit with plastic side covers removed and the seat very slightly modified for simplicity. It has been kept covered with a vinyl cover and under a carport for the past few years when I have not been riding it. THE GOOD: It starts and runs every time and I have been riding it regularly for a the past few years. Everything works as it should (lights, signals, breaks, etc.) and the bike runs and responds well. It is an absolute joy to ride. It has torque for days - good compression. THE BAD: Well, its an old bike and it smokes when it starts and fouls out the spark-plug on occasion. I'm not much of a mechanic but I have friends that have helped me out. It could use a tune up I'm sure. There is a leak in the exhaust manifold near the engine so it smokes up there when it first starts up after a few days off. Years ago, there was a leak in the engine case but it was professionally repaired with an aluminum patch and there has not been a problem since. Apparently this problem was common and the standard way of fixing then has been more a robust condition than the original state. THE UGLY: Look at it. I think it's beautiful but we all have different tastes. The tank has been rattle canned flat white and none of the side covers are on the bike. It's dusty but not too terribly dirty. Paint on the engine and wheels are chipping. There is rust in places but nothing is weakened or compromised. The seat has been recovered/reconditioned and the plastic part on the back has been painted white. The center stand broke at some point and I had it welded together with some reinforcement. That is stronger than before. It's just not a shiny bike. It reminds me of a well used hammer. It's a cool kind of ugly to me but there is no accounting for my taste, I'm sure. I have some extra parts (headlight bucket and blinker arms, the side covers -- I think, and some other stuff that you are welcome to have) Email me with any questions and I'll answer them to the best of my ability (and to my own amusement). Below, there is a video of me starting the bike after it had been sitting a week. It's a thumper so it tries to scoot away from me while its on its center stand. There are dog toys in the background of the pictures and I've not mowed my back yard in a bit. Don't judge!!! I can help deliver the bike within 200 miles at $0.75 a mile - otherwise you're on your own.

Two vintage motorcycles (mid 70's) ...one Yamaha RD 125 which has right around 1000 original miles on it. One RD 200 cc. I believe somewhere around 1 18,000 miles. Both bikes have in storage for over 30 years, neither run at this time, compression is perfect and all is in good shape most of the chrome is in very nice shape. Tanks are not all rusty amd all levers operate fine. They roll fine with air in the tires. No accidents all straight. Awesome vintage off-road trail blazing street machine! This bike rocks, the end! Bike starts on first or second kick, runs great, goes down the road beautifully, and did I mention it rocks!? Make no mistake, even though it looks good, this bike has been ridden and shows a little wear. But it also looks like it was put in storage 20 years ago waiting for you to take her out and rip some trails. The bike ran and then sat with gas in the tank so it will need to have the tank and carbs cleaned. Has good compression. Seat and paint are in good condition for it's age with some wear on the rear cowl (trim below seat). Parts that I can see that are not stock include: Lockhart oil cooler, stabilizer bar on front wheel, shocks, exhaust, and handle bar. Would be a great restore project or cafe racer.
