HONDA CX500 Up for sale 1979 Honda CX500. Most components on this motorcycle came from 1981 Custom Honda CX500, which includes: engine, front fork, electrics, and wheels. The engine at the time of installment had 9000 miles. Since then service was maintained as per manual. Oil filter was upgraded with an adapter to use standard car filters which can be purchased at any local automotive stores. Mechanical fan was upgraded to Ducati electric fan which can be turned on/off by a switch. Most of the work on the bike was done recently and was intended for my personal use but due to life changes, and to my dismay I have no time nor place to enjoy it now. The paint job was done with 2 component epoxy resin paint and clear coat and is tough as nails. New front fork seals and throttle cables were installed. Tires have 95 percent of life left in them. The engine has transistor ignition. All liquids ( engine oil, fork oil, antifreeze) were changed. New oil filter was just installed. New battery was installed. Front fork and rear shocks are air adjustable. New master brake cylinder was installed. Motorcycle is in excellent condition and ready to ride. Thank you for watching. Come by and check it out. 1979 Honda CX 500. This is a totally customized, one-off bike built by a very talented bike builder out of North Carolina!! It runs good, but needs a little fine tuning,because of the short, straight pipes. I've been told that some short baffles would give it the back pressure it needs to run perfectly, but I just haven't taken the time to do it. These CX 500s are becoming more and more sought after. They were only sold here in the U.S. from 1978-1982, so there are not a lot of them out there flooding the market. I have a clear North Carolina title on it. I haven't had the time to go get it titled here since I moved back to TX last year. If you have any questions about it or would like to come take a look at it, don't hesitate to contact me. 1979 Honda CX500, A Honda Never Grows Old - The Honda CX series motorcycles were developed and released by Honda in the late 1970s. The design included innovative features and technologies that were uncommon or unused at the time such as liquid cooling, electric-only starting, low-maintenance shaft drive, modular wheels, and dual CV-type carburetors that were tuned for reduced emissions. The electronic ignition system was separate from the rest of the electrical system, enabling the motorcycle to be push-started and ridden in case of a total electrical system failure. This CX500 came in on a recent trade and only has 7300 original miles on it. A great runabout for those looking to roll past the gas pumps.

This 1979 Honda CX500D has been in my family since 1981. We are the second owner of this bike and I have performed all of the maintenance on it myself since acquiring it. I properly winterize it each fall, and each spring it starts willingly. Motor oil, differential fluid, and brake fluid have all been changed regularly. Tires have about 2,500 miles on them. Front brake pads and rear brake shoes were replaced 1,800 miles ago. Mechanical seal has been changed a couple times in its life, most recently about 1,200 miles ago. Cosmetically, the bike shines up nice and has minor dings and scratches typical of a nearly 40 year old motorcyle, but looks great for its age.This bike was taken on an 800 mile round trip excursion in recent years and ran great yielding 55 miles per gallon, but is mostly ridden for errands casually on weekends. A Vetter "Vindicator" fairing and mounting hardware along with a rear back rest with luggage rack are included. I will consider delivering the bike to an address within reasonable distance with fair negotiation. Bike needs nothing else to be a daily rider and will faithfully serve its new owner as a daily commuter or even as a collection peice. Not many of these left in comparable running condition. I have two other bikes and need space, and two kids in college so sadly, this old friend must go.

1979 Honda Cx Series 500, CX500 Cafe Bike. The engine has about 23,000 miles on it. The engine runs excellent; brand new Ignitech ignition and the water pump seal has been replaced. New front tire, new battery, K+N air filter, fresh oil change with T6 Shell Rotella synthetic oil, rebuilt front master cylinder, new brakes front and rear, new seat, and fresh paint (2013). It is silver with a small amount of rainbow metalflake, looks fantastic. Cherry bomb mufflers are on it and it is loud. Lowered the front end 2" to tighten up the handling and installed new fork seals. The headlight was lowered with custom mounts and lowered the gauges to match. It's a fun bike to ride and gets attention everywhere I go. The pictures really speak for themselves. There is nothing wrong with this bike.
