The important thing about the ST shaftie is that it feels like a Kawasaki. When you wrap your hands around the grips, you instantly understand this motorcycle's elemental character. Like a steam locomotive, it's a solid lump of animated metal, a living monument to resolute horsepower and steadfast reliability. I bought this motorcycle New in 1979 and have owned and ridden this bike since. It has had very minimal use in the past 16 years, not run at all for the past 2 years. 2 years ago I drained the tank/carbs and plugged all intake and exhaust ports and stored it in my heated garage. I have now come to realize I will not be restoring this as planned and will not be riding it again. I have many parts, new and used that I have bought and stored away with this, including a NICE set of carburetors, 2 exhaust systems, the original rear turn signals, I still have the original seat top and foam, the original pan is under the seat on the bike now. I have a 1978 KZ1000 up for sale. I have recently set the timing, cleaned the carbs, and also set the valve clearances to factory specs. It pulls very strong and runs as it should. I think it could still use some fine tuning to make it perfect. It has a Dyna electronic ignition and Dyna 3.0 ohm green coils. I put a new petcock on the tank, as well as an inline fuel filter and new fuel lines. The carbs on the bike are from a 1979 or 1980 KZ1000, they have the accelerator pump on the #2 carb. It has a little popping on deceleration, which I think is coming from running a little bit lean. The front brake works well, the rear brake could use some adjustment with the brake pedal. The bike needs turns signals and also the low beam is out, needing a new bulb. The clutch cable needs some minor adjustment, the bike occasionally wants to move slightly forward in 1st gear with the clutch pulled in. All shipping and arrangement of shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I can help set a time to meet with a shipper, but everything else must be taken care of by the buyer. I have a clear Indiana title in my name, the mileage on the title is EXEMPT.
