Bought this 80 shovelhead off ebay last year as part of a LOT. The bike did not have any tanks and most of the primary drive parts were in a box. We serviced the engine and tranny , cleaned the carburetor and installed belt drive primary. Did not go into the motor so have no idea what has been done to it. The mileage listed is what shows on speedo, I am not aware of actual mileage. This old shovel leaks a little like most all the other shovels. I own probably as many shovelheads as anyone I know of, as I have at least one FL 66 thru 85 ( yes 85 shovel the motor company made 200 shovels for police in 1985 ) , and at least one FX 71 thru 84. I am selling this 80 model FL because I have another nice 2A which is 1200. If it was a factory 80 cubic inch I would probably keep it. This bike very well may be bumped to 80 I do not know. This bike does crank and run and shift thru all the gears. With a little more tinkering and some paint it would make someone a decent run around bike. Like a mentioned I have several bikes and right now I am willing to sale several. I have a 1912 original motor in a 1910 style timeless chassis, a 1933 RLDE original restored, a couple more 40s flatheads, a couple knuckles, a few panheads, two Indians , the shovels mentioned above, a few evos and some twincams . 1980 Harley-Davidson FLH Shovelhead (FLH-80 Electra Glide II), The Shovelhead is an air-cooled, 45 degree, V-twin motorcycle engine manufactured from 1966 to 1985 by Harley-Davidson. Initial models had an engine displacement of 1,208 cc (74 cu in). Roughly halfway through production of the 1978 model year, this was increased to 1,340 cc (82 cu in) for some of Harley's Big Twin bikes. 1340cc, referred to by the company as 80ci., engines were optional on FLH models halfway through 1978 and through all of '79 before becoming standard equipment for FLH models in 1980. These bikes were referred to as FLH-80 Electra Glide II models. FX model bikes continued to be offered with either 1200 or 1340 cc engines till 1981 when 1340cc, also referred to as 80 ci., was made standard across the Big Twin line.Customized Shovelhead Electra GlideThe "shovel" cylinder head represented an offshoot of the Harley-Davidson Knucklehead engine but featured a slightly different look. The name was derived from the appearance of the rocker box covers. Because these covers bring to mind the head of coal shovels when inverted, the name shovelhead was a natural progression. The shovel engines powered Harleys up until the introduction of the Evolution engine in 1984, ending the reign of the "shovel" as enthusiasts frequently call these engines. The shovel engine does not have covers, per se, but rocker boxes and rocker arms which pivot on shafts. The design provided more than a unique look; it produced 10% more horsepower than the panhead engine which it replaced. From 1966 through 1969 the shovelhead kept the panhead style lower end. These early style shovelheads with the generator bottoms were often referred to as slabside shovels. From 1970 on the shovelheads used an alternator bottom often termed a cone shovel.

This bike was originally sold in 1964 to a Police Office in Upstate New York (Buffalo I think) that had it until his early and unexpected death. The bike was willed to his Police partner who had it a number of years and even restored in the 1980s. The bike was latter sold to a collector in Cincinnati who also had it quite a while. I purchased it from this collector after his wife was diagnosed with cancer and he sold off his entire collection of Pan and Knuckleheads. However, all-in-all this is one awesome Panhead! The really cool part about this scooter is that it is mostly original. Even the chrome pieces are the original parts taken off, chromed and then put back on. The carb is an S&S so, obviously not original, the kicker and bell cover are not original but I will include the original kicker and cover that came on the bike when it was purchased new, the windshield and bag are not original as well as the speedo,the electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volt as well as an electronic ignitition and as far as I know…that is it! This bike runs and handles like a dream!!
