1980 Kawasaki KZ 650: All original bike, completely stock. This bike is fully operational. Everything is in working and running order. The bike is still registered and on the road. What I've done: I purchased this bike in 2014- it was stored for at least 6 years indoors before I got it. I installed new battery in April 2015. I had new coils installed in December 2015. I had the carbs professionally cleaned, tuned, and bench synced in July 2016. I also had the seat redone to look exactly like the original. The paint is in good shape, some scratches here and there is expected for the age. The bike is not showroom condition, but people constantly comment on how clean it is. What is needs: If I kept the bike I would look into getting new tires. They are not dry rotted but they are not new. I have the clean title in hand, 2 keys, and original owners manual. I am the second owner of this motorcycle and have owned it for 30 years. It was refreshed 20 years ago and then made an appearance in Cycle World magazine in August of 1998. It was awarded 3rd place in the Classic Japanese Concours. (Bested only by a sand-cast KO, and a CB400f which was riding a wave of popularity at the time.) However, this is not a show bike and never was. It is the motorcycle I wanted in college but couldn't afford. 15 years after its debut, I bought this one at a yard sale and have treated it like a motorcycle - not a prop in a man-cave. Like all my motorcycles, it has been ridden fast and far. And, like all my motorcycles, it receives excellent care and maintenance. As pictured here, it is currently wearing a set of Lester cast wheels with Metzler Lazers for performance. The original factory wheels are included and are wearing IRCs with an OEM tread pattern. Also included, is a more recently acquired set of correct OEM Dunlop tires: K87 Gold Seal rear tire (new) and the extremely rare F6 front (very light wear). All the original parts that have been replaced, have been kept and are included in the sale. Due to photo limitations, not all has been shown. Included are 3 seats, full Vetter and Shoei touring package, Tracy 1/4 fairing with smoke windshield and a Japanese market 4-into-1 exhaust that has never been mounted. The bike is wearing replacement body work, purchased from Kawasaki in the late 1980's. The original body work (small badge tank) is included and is in factory finish, fair condition. Also, a Lockhart oil cooler with all fittings, case guards, luggage rack, chain, additional rear wheel with brake and axle assembly. The original switch-gear and wiring harness have been replaced with an aftermarket product for reliability. The original switches are in good cosmetic condition, but the wiring has become brittle and prone to cracks and shorts. Good for display, not so good for use. The only other mods are unseen: needle bearings in the swing arm and tapered rollers in the steering head. I am not interested in splitting this package, it all goes as one. Factory shop manual and owner's manual are included. Clear Missouri title plus the original title issued in Iowa in 1973. If you know these bikes, you know what to look for and I'm to glad to answer questions by phone or email and send additional requested pics. LOCAL PICK UP ONLY IN HAMBURG, NJ 07419. NO DELIVERY, NO SHIPPING. SORRY. Complete running bike with title! (offroad only) I just did a carburetor cleaning, tank & petcock cleaning, oil change, coolant flush and refill, greased the suspension linkage, adjusted the chain slack, adjusted the tire pressures, etc. I'll also throw in a brand new pair of black Scott "Hurricane" grips. It starts up relatively easy for a big bore 2 stroke, runs real good, will idle all day long and pull the front end up on demand. The transmission goes through all the gears smoothly, the clutch works well. No leaks or issues, the brakes work very well, the suspension is not blown, the tires are like new, the steering, suspension & wheel bearings all seem good. It's an excellent restoration candidate or have some fun with it as it is. It's a very rare & powerful bike and, best of all, it comes with the title. I'm also open to trade offers, but only for dirt bikes and sport/race quads. Many of these will not be straight up trades, so please be prepared to add cash on top. I, too am prepared to add cash on top for the right deal. In particular, I'm interested in 1982-1983 YZ100, 1980-1981 YZ465, 1982-1990 YZ490, 1983-1984 IT490, 1990-2004 Warrior, YFZ450, mid-late '80s CR250 or CR500, Quadzilla LT500R.
