1980 Kawasaki KZ 650: All original bike, completely stock. This bike is fully operational. Everything is in working and running order. The bike is still registered and on the road. What I've done: I purchased this bike in 2014- it was stored for at least 6 years indoors before I got it. I installed new battery in April 2015. I had new coils installed in December 2015. I had the carbs professionally cleaned, tuned, and bench synced in July 2016. I also had the seat redone to look exactly like the original. The paint is in good shape, some scratches here and there is expected for the age. The bike is not showroom condition, but people constantly comment on how clean it is. What is needs: If I kept the bike I would look into getting new tires. They are not dry rotted but they are not new. I have the clean title in hand, 2 keys, and original owners manual. More pictures upon request.

Motorbike ain't perfect but it's reliable and steady. I ride it every day the weather permits and I just took it on a 400-some-odd mile round trip down state and it performed like a ****** champ.I love this bike, but life is a miserable experience of pain and suffering and if you're lucky you die from a massive heart attack in your sleep, or slamming into a cliff wall at 90 mph on your vintage 1980 KZ650 when a tire blows out. But probably not. So I'm selling my bike. Seeps a little oil from the valve cover gasket because I don't care enough to change it and kind of like things a little scuzzy. Never have to add oil between changes. New rear tire last year, front has like, I don't know, 2,000 miles on it since a couple seasons ago. Seat's probably ripped up under the duct tape, because otherwise why would you put duct tape on a seat? I don't care because it works and I use an AirHawk on it anyway. Come look at it, don't come without cash and a way to haul it.

Bike has been gone through down to every nut and bolt. Valves re-lapped and adjusted. All new gaskets and seals. (so far I can't find any leaks or seepage) All of the screws that were the #3 phillips style we all hate so much have been replaced with polished stainless steel allen heads. All of the screw holes in the head for the cam bearings and the valve cover have been heli-coiled to prevent stripped and or broken screws. Anti-sieze used on everything with a few exceptions where it would cause problems. Everything has either been freshly painted or polished. Many custom "one-off" parts. Front brakes are from a CBR954. Frame narrowed in the rear and all un-used tabs ground off. Frame was then sand blasted and painted. Tank has been treated and then coated with Caswell epoxy. "Pingel" style petcock. Oil pressure gauge in the center of the instrument cluster. LED indicators for the blinkers and high beam. Needs a different set of blinkers. I bought a cheap set off of Ebay and the lenses crack if you look at them funny. (To me that isn't a big deal since I usually don't run blinkers but, I made the wiring harness with provisions for them so, it's up to you) Custom wiring harness made with all new connectors of the appropriate style. (not BS Home Depot spades and butt connectors) Wiring is all high temp polyethylene insulated expensive stuff. I converted the alternator to a 3 phase from a 1980 model so the battery will stay charged. Also, the electric start actually works. Granted, a toddler could probably kick-start this thing but, it's nice to be able to just push the go button. It handles beautifully. Very neutral and stable. Transmission is perfect and shifts very nicely and smooth. Front brakes are extremely strong but, predictable. Really nice around town bar hopper kinda thing. It has a bit more power than I was expecting from a 650 and runs really nice. I'm pretty solid on the price. But, cash talks. Low-ball offers will be scornfully rejected.
