For sale is a very nice 1982 Kawasaki GPZ550 (KZ550 H1) with a little over 26,000 miles. With the exception of the engine, this bike was recently disassembled, repainted, and rebuilt. These bikes are getting very hard to find in this condition. The bike is very lightweight and easy to ride, making it great for beginners. It also has enough power to cruise down the highway, especially with its 6-speed transmission. Listed below is a short list of the upgrades on this bike: -Larger TK27 carburetors installed from a newer 84-85 model year GPZ - carburetors rebuilt -Dynojet stage 3 jet kit installed with K&N air filters and Outerwears pre-filters -Rare Kerker header- the bike sounds like a newer sport bike -Wezmoto stainless brake lines with black outer covering -Rebuilt brake calipers with new caliper kits and brake pads -NGK spark plug wires and boots -New clutch discs and springs -New clutch cable -New D.I.D. x-ring gold colored chain, and new front and rear sprockets -New factory style graphics kit. New paint and clear coat over the graphics -Newer front and rear tires -New hand grips -New dry cell battery -Billet manual cam chain tensioner -Includes factory Kawasaki tools -Includes repair manual As noted above, with the exception of the engine, almost every component was removed from the bike, media blasted, and repainted. The tank, side covers, tail piece, and swingarm were all repainted with a base coat clear coat paint. The clear coat was sprayed over top of the graphics, making them much more durable. The calipers, caliper brackets, forks, and almost all of the other components were also painted. Lots of time and effort went into the rebuild. The bike starts right up and idles great. It pulls pretty hard through the gears like it should. The bike has had a recent oil and filter change, and the valve lash is within spec. I've taken the bike on a couple of long day trips now and it performed flawlessly. Below is a link to the bike starting and running: http://youtu.be/mw_iICsYKlI These bikes were known to have some cam chain and clutch basket noise at idle (search YouTube / Google for examples). This bike does have a little bit of both, but nothing out of the ordinary. The only other issue worth noting is there was a slight bubbling of the paint underneath the right side tank emblem. This was presumably from the fumes coming from the emblem screw hole. I've since siliconed the hole and the issue hasn't gotten any worse. I've included a photo of the area in question. Otherwise the paintwork is beautiful. These bikes don't become available too often. I have considerably more money in the bike and new parts than the asking price. I'm only selling as I need funds for another project. The title is clear and in my name, and the registration is current. My loss is your gain on a nice vintage bike. A minimum $1,000.00 down payment is required immediately after the end of the listing via Paypal. The remainder of the balance can be paid when the bike is picked up. The bike must be picked up in Oskaloosa, IA, zip code 52577. Delivery arrangements can be made for a fee if you're within a reasonable distance. Please feel free to email with any and all question. Thanks for looking!
