Awesome survivor low original mileage Honda 500R. Rebuilt top end including new piston and rings with rebuilt cylinder head! Fresh, not even broken in yet. I have built several of these bikes in my younger days and still ride a built to the hilt 82 xl so I am very familiar with these motors. I am only selling this one because I have no interest in collecting, only riding these old jewels and since I can't ride 'em both at the same time one has to go. New o ring chain, new factory original grips and new clutch and brake levers. Still wearing her original speedometer!! Plastics are orig. as well although the rear fender has a crack. Very fast bike ready to ride. The 81-82 xr's are becoming increasingly harder to find in any condition. They were the first pro-link suspension thumpers. This bike is just under 300 lbs. Honda completely redesigned the bike and motor for the 1983 model year. (never quite hitting the mark imho) Sold with a bill of sale only. Will work with buyer to ship anywhere, and no. It is not cheaper to send it in pieces, this aint no ct70. This from MCS... When the rider clicks the XR into gear, he feels the 500 accelerate smoothly right from idle. In light of Honda's fondness for high-rewing engines, it « not surprising that the XR quickly builds power into the high rpm range One does not ordinarily want to keep a btg four-stroke single spinning hard because of the vibration, but the XR is controllable and offers its best power up high. But this doesn't mean the Honda is lacking in tow-end power; check these figures out. The XR develops 11.82 horsepower and 24.82 pounds/feet of torque at 2500 rpm—barely above idle. At 3500 rpm it's producing 17 horsepower and 26 lbs/ft of torque, compared to 13 horsepower and 19 lbs/ft of torque developed by last years Yamaha TT500. While the XR makes its best power at 6500 rpm (33.44 horsepower), it doesn't penalize overrewing, continuing to produce nearly 27 horsepower up until 8500 rpm. This powerband is superb: it lets the rider power out of tight situations, chug up hills effortlessly and relax while he trail rides There is also a predictable but abundant surge of power m the mid-range, at which point it's incredibly easy to wheelie the machine in the first three gears. MPG: 46mpg (period test) Price then/now: $6,995/$5,000-$12,000 Back in the early 1980s, Harley-Davidson executives were still a bit nervous about the viability of the company. After all, they were trying to sell old-fashioned pushrod, two-valve, air-cooled V-twin machines in an era of multis with double overhead camshafts, 4-valve heads and liquid cooling. Shortly after Harley bought itself back from AMF in 1981, the decision was made to junk the revolutionary Nova prototype AMF had been developing, which had a V-four engine incorporating all those contemporary innovations. However, something decidedly kick-*** was needed to convince the faithful that this 80-year-old company still had what it takes to whoop the upstarts, and it had to be done on the cheap. What to do? The new heads used slightly larger valves to allow for the increased 998cc displacement, and also offered better support for the valve guides, considering that this was intended to be a high-mile street bike, not a constantly rebuilt race bike. After basic machining in Milwaukee, the heads were all sent to flow-guru Jerry Branch s shop in California. Branch did the porting and polishing, shimmed the double valve springs, and put in titanium collars and keepers. None of this was cheap. One big difference between the iron XL and alloy XR heads was that the valves were set at an included angle of 90 degrees on the stock Sportster versus 68 degrees on the XR. This allowed for a shallower combustion chamber and a flattish-topped piston on the XR, which helped create a shorter route from the spark plug to the combustibles. Performance package Harley claimed 70hp at 5,600rpm, along with 48lb/ft of torque at 4,400rpm. That power traveled along a triplex primary chain to a multiplate wet clutch, through a 4-speed Sportster transmission and out to the back wheel on a 530 chain. By Clement Salvadori

Beautifully restored 1982 Yamaha YZ 60, was only made in this style in 1982 and 1983, the holy grail of the mini motocross bikes, nearly impossible to find any more, let alone in this condition. Completely dissasembled and redone. Swing arm, lower fork tubes, and handlebars powder coated yellow, only one like it, and it looks awesome. Frame was sandblasted and painted, everything else sandblasted and powder coated. Both rims were sandblaseted and powdercoated gloss black. New front tire and tube, new rear tire and tube. New chain. Rear sprocket was not available, current one in great condition, and was cleaned and powder coated. New seat cover, new OEM style wicked tough graphics. New scott handgrips. Carburator was cleaned with new needle valve installed, new fuel petcock, new gas lines. New fork seals and fork oil. Runs and drives excellent and looks like new. Plastic all completely sanded down, cleaned and reheated for shine, in great original condition. Every nut and bolt was cleaned and coated, it looks like new. The Yz60 had a very short 3 year run, and are getting very difficult to find, let alone in this condition.. $500 deposit due immediately a auction end.
