Very rare Yamaha 500 which was brought to the states in 1986 and been in same owner collection 29 years. Bike has been sitting some time, Bodywork is in Excellent shape with the excepetion of the upper where the mirrors connect to the fairing mount. Unfortunately a board fell on the it years ago and cracked the mount points.Bike has been tastefully modified with FZR wheels, brakes and Performance pipes. I DO HAVE the stock wheels and stock pipes. Bike has not been started for years but was stored correctly in climate controlled room. There is only 4400+ - original miles on the bike. I have lots of parts that go with the bike. Bike is 100% OEM, Windshield is perfect and also has solo seat cowl.

1985 Yamaha RZ 500 in good except for the plastic which nee some attention. I recently purchased the bike this summer form Canada and rode it some with the intention of eventually restoring it. I realize I have to many other projects going on (I've had an RZ 350 in the garage now for about 7 years) and not enough garage space, so I'm starting to sell off some of my bikes. Everything on the bike works as it should such as horn, turn signals, lights, etc. The bike has a set of Nikon GP pipes on it and will come with stock pipes also. The bike will come with a spare rear wheel with a brand new tire on it. The bike will also come with some spare plastic in various states that will need repair work done on it. Would prefer to sell to someone that could come and pick up bike and bike is available for inspection. May end auction at any time since bike is also being advertised on other venues.

This is the rarer Japanese RZ500R version. Not a RZ500 (steel frame) version.  The R version was made in much smaller numbers for the Japan market only. This bike is California registered. The bike has new tires which came with it which a friend of mine helped me to install. I did buy a new battery even though the original would start the bike it appeared to have some bad cells. The battery cover is included and is in also in very good condition.   The bike has 7,207.4 miles on it.

Original RD500 up bike never been touched at all could be a project or mot it and ride it engine runs and sound perfect. No leaks anywhere. I had the bike on the road in 2012 after overhauling the carbs and balancing as was not running very well when I got it. A new owner needs little or no addition. Request pictures

ivisionary Store This listing seems to have brought a few other U.S. based RZs out of the woodwork. In my opinion, none are as compelling an addition to the perfectionist enthusiast stable, as this one. The aluminum-framed Japanese version, while very cool, was also regarded in the day as a flexy flier. Look at the cross section of today's aluminum framed 600cc/100HP class cycles for proportional comparison. Steel is stronger, less prone to failure, and more reliable - which is why Yamaha issued very few aluminum framed RZ500s, and all of them were 1st year Japan-only 1984s. Odometer fraud is exceedingly easy with early motorcycles (unthread speedo cable, and ride), and as we all know, the more owners, the more little gotchas and imperfections creep into old bikes. One machine offered for sale with unbelievably low "original miles" but never washed since new, ridden monthly and current registration ... c'mon. You don't need a car wash to do the job of a garden hose. "Get that filthy tired old bean-oil-smelling POS out of my living room" is likely a common spousal refrain. Every time you take a bike apart, it loses a little bit of something. Like taking apart and reassembling a notebook computer again and again and again. So here we are again, and this time, having figured out how to correct the listing errors, the price is also adjusted down to a real-world level. Original Listing Copy, corrected: I am a US resident but grew up in Canada and bought this RZ500 in Toronto new to go with my '84 as the virgin, 100% stock and pristine garage queen. The '84 (sold - not THIS bike) stretched the chains, did the Highway 400 and 404 roll wheelies at 100+ km/h, got the dyno prizes and when kids came along, moved on to a new owner. This bike still has its oil pump set to the factory "rich" break in spec as it was never brought back for its follow-up service when it was new. *THIS* 1985 bike, remained 100% stock except SS brake lines, done at dealer pre-delivery, and Metzeler tires. (personal preference). Because I had (2) RZ500s and a stable of up to 12 bikes, I rode it very rarely and it was last plated for road use in 1999. Since then it was stored at our family estate which while not explicitly "climate controlled" was an attached insulated full brick 2 story with mezzanine garage - and you can tell from the bike's condition. Here are pics from when it was cleared from the family estate mid-May to a secure storage in Niagara, Canada. I am entitled to import this bike as a personal effect as a US resident but will not do so until the bike is sold to a US buyer. For the rest of the world bike ships FOB Toronto to your destination. Deluxe services such as professional crating, white glove delivery, airfreight are all available. My first priority is that you, as the buyer, are 100% satisfied with your purchase, and to do everything it takes so that your ownership experience is the very best imaginable. This bike was last started with fresh gas and oil, and ran very well, the summer of 2009 (but has not been legally plated for road use since 1999) for about 10-15miles of gentle riding around the subdivision. At this juncture, I will not start or run it unless stipulated by a buyer who has made a monetary deposit. To ensure that there is no needless tire-kicking, with a monetary deposit, I will be glad to send you as many more photos of it as you wish, and to show you that it turns over, and to video every single square inch of it. I will accompany you and admit you to the secure storage to inspect the bike personally in Southern Ontario, Canada, if you would like to come here - you will not be disappointed. A few minor errors in this listing that I could not correct, required me to end the auction early. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PURPLE KAWI H2-750 MOTORCYCLE THAT WAS/IS IN THE LAST PIC IS A DIFFERENT ITEM AND NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE. Here is the complete list of non-stock items and flaws I know about with this bike: - The DOT3 fluid has seeped out of the brake reservoir and somewhat marred the black paint on the aluminum - Does not have factory original Bridgestone tires or brake pads/hoses - replaced with Metzlers and Ferodos/Russell lines - Small scratch on "V4" sticker of cowl, RH side, visible from 3 feet, as missing "red", white paint below it perfrect, not visible 10 feet - Little spot on bellypan blue paint missing, RH side right beside alternator, noticed this after first listing - Non stock chain, changed to gold DOD o-ring along the way to match wheels - Original belly pan developed (and by developed, I mean, was broken during PDI) a crack. The crack got progressively worse, so I substituted the fiberglass reinforced belly pan from my 1984 rz500 when it was sold. This belly pan is 100% solid but does have a pro fiberglass reinforcement in the bottom Otherwise, this is about as close as it gets to "time machine". Nowadays, there are people who spend 20 grand on a Vuitton purse or a cold air intake for a Lambo, so I have set the B-I-N price accordingly so a well-heeled buyer can separate the wheat from the chaff and move on to arranging professional crating and delivery of his time-machine RZ500 (RD500LC), for shipment worldwide. I don't want to deprive the rich guy who scoffs at the BIN to just take it and enjoy the prize, but your reasonable offer is welcomed, and I will do what needs to be done to make you as proud and pleased to own this bike as I have been.

BASIC SPECS: A two-stroke, power-valve-equipped 347cc parallel twin with 26mm slide-valve Mikuni carbs, oil injection and six-speed transmission. A steel-tube frame with an aluminum swingarm rolls on 18-inch wheels with triple disc brakes. Its simplicity allowed it to be a light 371 pounds with the 5.2-gallon (!) gas tank half full. WHY IT’S DESIRABLE: The RZ350 is the most modern and last legal street-going two-stroke sold in the US. In the first full test, Cycle Workd July 1984 cover bike rated a “perfect 10” on the fun scale. On Jerry Branch’s dyno, the stock RZ350 made 42.7 hp at 9,000 rpm; redline is 9,500. The RZ350 turned in an impressive quarter-mile time of 13.19 seconds at 99.22 mph, and that was with the OE catalyst exhausts. Fun and nimble handling are improved with fitment of modern tires on those classic ’80s wheels. A surprising number of these bikes come up for sale at reasonable cost, but original, low-mileage examples in excellent condition can go for double blue book. Aftermarket parts support remains very good.

Real nice example of the classic RZ RD 350, bike was purchased originally in Germany and brought over to Canada.Very well maintained and stored properly in my heated shop, second home. This bike has never been ridden in the last 3 years and is primarily a visual treat for me as I plan to do some serious work soon to my 500, and will need a little extra funding. All original parts including mint stock pipes and all signals ,center stand, original airbox, and original seat stock plastic as this sweetheart has the ultra rare and sought after Yamaha GP style single seat, and as mentioned the bike has very nice brand new GP Microns c/w the aftermarket airbox, which really lighten things up , plus they sound crisp, there is literally 1/2 hr on these babies.Rear tire is brand new and the front is still very good, any bike of this age will have a few little nics but this bike is special, when it does go to a new owner I will miss her.I am sure there may be some questions so feel free to ask, great collector piece in the full Yamaha Racing Spirit.Of course any shipping is over and above and I am willing to assist if required.Good sound investment and a real classic.Do not let it get away, needs a very Good Home.Best Regards
