Up for sale is my 1988 Vmax with 61,943 miles. Runs fantastic. Just put in a brand new fuel pump 50 miles ago and brand new tires about 500 miles ago. Battery was just replaced 4 months ago. Needs nothing. Also has a Supertrapp Megaphone exhaust as well. Paint job is also only about a year and a half old. Have the paperwork to prove everything. Bike is extremely fast as you know and a whole lot of fun. Has never seen a track nor has it been raced before. Asking $2500 OBO. No lowballers or tirekickers. No trades. Test ride is available only if you have $2500 cash in hand; no exceptions. Thanks for looking!

Up for sale is a sharp-looking classic 1988 Yamaha V-Max muscle bike. The bike itself is in good original condition and has just 19,650 original miles (less than 730 miles per year). I picked this up in non-running condition as a winter project. Around $1500 worth of work was done to the bike over the past two months: --Major Carburetor Overhaul (completely taken apart, cleaned, new gaskets and O-rings) --Master Clutch Cylinder Rebuilt (new rebuild kit installed) --Slave Cylinder Rebuilt (new rebuild kit installed) --Clutch Flushed with New Fluid --Complete Radiator Flush and Fill --New Battery --New OEM Fuel Filter --New Oil and Filter The bike is now ready to ride! Bike starts right up, idles fine, and runs and sounds great! The original exhaust sounds awesome! The engine is a strong and beefy 1200cc engine. Bike is in great condition cosmetically for being 27 years old. Metal is shiny, plastic is in good shape. The bike has the normal wear-and-tear. Overall, I would rate it a 7 or 8 out of 10. All electricals (turn signals, headlight, brakes, horn) work. This bike has the nice K&N air filter installed (around $65). The rear tire is like-new and oversized for a more beefy look. Excellent tread! See pics. The popular V-Boost works! This is a VMax function that opens up butterfly valves to give you an extra boost of power. Stock V-Boost opens at 6000 RPM's. This bike has been updated to give you that extra power at 3000 RPM's instead of 6000! This is a very, very fast bike. This bike is a nice bike that turns heads. It's seriously not for the faint of heart. If you are a novice rider, I honestly would not recommend this bike. Yamaha made an awesome bike, and the V-Max remained virtually unchanged from 1985-2009 because it was so popular and dependable...and fast! You are looking at an iconic motorcycle here. Clubs exist simply for V-Max riders!!! Comes with the sissy bar as shown. Also included is a shop manual. I want you to know exactly what you are bidding on, so you have no surprises. The worst parts of the bike as I know them: --The front plastic driver's seat clip (on the bottom of the seat that slides into a little slot) is broken. The seat still locks into place with the rear locks, so the seat isn't going anywhere, but the front clip is broken. --Seat has some small tears on top of seat. They aren't terrible but definitely noticeable. --Old gunky gas tank was replaced with tank from another V-max. This "new" tank was previously coated on the inside, but that flaked off. Inside of tank was cleaned with muriatic acid, shaken with screws and bolts to remove pieces, and cleaned. Bike runs great, new fuel filter was installed, but tank is not original to bike (it had green crud). --Carburetors are not professionally vacuum-synched. The bike idles fine and runs great, but if you are going to race OR want tip-top performance, you might squeeze another 10% of performance out of the bike with a synchronization. The bike was synched via the old-school method of listening, revving, adjusting, and riding. --Clutch handle is slightly bent. Works fine, but you can tell it's different than the right-side brake handle in terms of feel/location. --Front fork seals need replaced. They have that classic "oil creeping up the fork" look. --Chrome has surface rust in places such as the mufflers. They shine nice, but they are not perfect. Right-side muffler also looks like it has some road rash in very back. Muffler is very minorly bent in and scratched. It's hard to see from afar, but if you get up under the bike, you can see it. --Highway foot pegs appear to be missing spacers and bolt to frame on lower half of pegs. They are bolted to the frame on top of the pegs, but it looks like both sides need another bolt to the frame (there is a receiving thread in the frame). These are really not big issues, but I have bought vehicles before on eBay, so I know the feeling of trying to wonder what you are going to get, and again, I want NO surprises!!! It's a sharp bike, but it's not showroom condition. It looks great, but it's 27 years old. Please look at the pictures, ask questions, or come and check it out! I only took this bike as a project for the winter. It had sat for numerous years without running. I honestly have less than 10 miles on the bike around my neighborhood, but it runs and shifts through all gears fine. This bike just needs to be ridden!!! Because I don't have many miles on the bike, understand that some other unknown issues may come up. I don't write that to scare you or lose a buyer...I just like honesty!!! Motorcycle is sold as-is. I encourage any and all questions!!! This bike is located in Springfield, Illinois, 62703. Buyer must pick up. I have ramps and can help load if necessary. Clear Illinois title.

I bought this bike 7 years ago. I loved the design and the legend from back in 84 when I first read about this bike. I was not disappointed. From my first ride, this bike is wicked fast, and wants to go faster. Super responsive throttle, redlines over 9k, 0-60 is 2 point something, this bike is awesome. I have had a couple of low speed crashes, which accounts for the scratches and dings and dangs. Restored what was damaged, and back on the rode. A couple of years ago, the bike developed this slip out of second gear thing every once in a while. So now when I ride it, I rev higher in first, then double shift to 3rd. Because the bike loves to go fast, I was naturally revving high in 1st to begin with. Around the same time, I noticed that the carb boots were getting a little cracked. While the bike was in the shop for a full carb rebuild, I got a screaming deal on another bike, which my girlfriend and I absolutely love to ride two-up. Now, my Vmax is only getting ridden about twice a month. Not good enough. Time to sell. I bought it with a salvage title. The previous owner (who also owns too many bikes) said that he bought it from a guy who had laid it down, insurance paid off, he bought the bike back, restored it, hence a salvage title. Hopefully the pictures tell the story. dings dangs bumps and bruises, one of the fastest bikes I have ever ridden. It is LOUD, with a 4-1 exhaust and holeshot muffler that was repacked about 3 years ago. New rear tire...Michelin Commando-2 high mileage tire. Front tire is ready to be replaced, but still has miles left. Corbin seat, after market shocks (I have the originals), modified brake light and license plate bracket, stainless brake lines, and whatever else I have forgotten. Miles are original on the original engine. Here is a short video (hope the link works) https://youtu.be/5R8iJh9jCCk
