The changes for the 2004 Chief power train, which retained the 100-cubic-inch engine, included a redesigned crankshaft, a new camshaft with matching valve springs, vacuum-advance ignition, new cylinder-head castings with 9.0:1 compression, one-piece rockers, internal-bypass lubrication, and a new exhaust system, that reduced emissions and accommodated a catalyst for California models. These were claimed to provide a 7 percent horsepower increase and 14 percent more torque. The Chiefs' 170 changes also included Brembo master cylinders, the prettier hand and foot controls, new floorboards Gorgeous Indian Chief built by Indian Dealer in Gilroy, titled 2004, with several upgrades including 6 speed transmission, tach, Arrow shift linkage Chrome Primary etc. We purchased the bike from someon in Texas last November with only, it has original 1,500 miles. He had purchased the bike in 2010 when it had 17 miles. The seller had the bike at a San Diego museum. We add a brand new sidecar, brand new white wall tires, Indian Motorcycle paint shop, brand new genuine leather seats for the bike and Sidecar and leather wall panels to give it a nice elegant finish. This is one of the last no to say the last Indian Chief Vintage that was produced by Gilroy California #629. A collector for sure... If you can come and see the bike in person you won't be disappointed, it stands up anywhere it goes. Own a pice of history!

For sale is this low miles 2 tone red and black King's Mountain Indian Chief Vintage that originally sold new for $37,500. It has a 105 cubic inch engine with plenty of torque for acceleration along with a Baker 6 speed transmission that is smooth shifting and allows the bike to run all day on the highway at 70 MPH in 6th gear at about 2500 RPMs. It's a great highway bike. It is currently set up with a solo seat and seat rail with a luggage rack, but also comes with a passenger seat, passenger footboards and a tall backrest with a luggage rack on it as well. It also has the stage one performance exhaust and chip installed. The paint, leather and chrome are all in great shape. The only issue it has is that the windshield lock broke off and may need to be replaced, although the spring loaded clips on the windshield hold it in place just fine without the lock and it can be removed from the bike with a slot screwdriver. I'm only selling it because I already have 3 other Indians that I like to ride (1 Polaris and 2 Springfield) and this bike needs to be ridden more than I have time for so I want to send it to a good new home. There is no warranty offered or implied with this bike, what you see is what you get, so please ask any questions you may have before you buy or make an offer. I am the original owner and principal Chassis Engineer who designed several component parts and sub-systems on these fine machines. This motorcycle has been ridden sparingly as it has been preserved as a family heirloom however extenuating circumstances dictate this sale. A new AGM battery was installed in June and NC safety inspection completed in August. A factory Stage II ECU, 'free-flowing' muffler assy. (w/o baffles) and K&N air filter are currently installed resulting in increased torque & horsepower over the entire RPM range. The exhaust system now sounds much better than a stock system with a deep & throaty note that's not too obnoxious. Note, this Stage II ECU was properly developed and fully tested by my factory research & development team however due to the pending acquisition by Polaris Ind. in 2010/11, it was not commercialized for sale in the retail market. The original ECU, muffler & air cleaner can be easily re-installed without the need for special tools. All original 'take-off' parts are included along with a pillion pad (not shown), quick-detach/locking windshield, high-quality Indian bike cover, owner's kit and associated documentation.
