2006 Harley-Davidson Road Glide BaseIntro The 2006 Harley-Davidson Road Glide is a sleek and sexy touring bike that offers everything one wants or needs in a long-range tourer. The Harley-Davidson Road Glide""s engine is similar to the one found on Harley-Davidson""s other Glide models – the impeccable 1450cc, air-cooled, Twin-Cam 88 engine. Available only as an option on the other Glide models, the Road Glide also comes standard with an Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) system. This ingenious system delivers a smooth and seamless response from the bike""s belt-driven rear wheel, and helps boost fuel economy. In fact, the Harley-Davidson Road Glide gets a strong 39 mpg city/46 mpg highway. Given the fact that the bike weighs a hefty 762 lbs., that""s quite an achievement. Plus, with its high-capacity five gallon fuel tank, you""re looking at well over 200 miles of riding, before having to stop to refuel. The chassis of the 2006 Harley-Davidson Road Glide features a steel, square-section backbone, with twin downtubes for superior rigidity. The bike""s 41.3mm triple circuit damping (TCD) front fork with 4.6 inches of travel, and rear air-adjustable shock with 3.0 inches of travel, combine to ensure that its ride is smooth and consistent on all riding surfaces. Additionally, its super-thick MU85B16 rear tire helps prevent slipping, so you can ride with greater confidence. Braking is efficiently handled by dual 292mm discs with four-piston calipers on the front wheel, and a solo 292mm disc with four-piston calipers on the rear wheel. Visually, the 2006 Harley-Davidson Road Glide looks as great as it rides. Its new black slash graphics give the available eight different color options a sharp and bold contrast. Countering the beautiful paint job on the bike""s fairing and saddlebags is the pristine silver powder-coated engine with chrome covers. In fact, chrome can be found all over the machine, from the cockpit""s instrument panel, to the slash-cut mufflers running along the bottom sides of the bike.
