It is time to find a new home for my beloved 2003 KTM 640 Adventure. I love it but have another adventure bike and I am not riding the KTM enough. The 640 Adventure has been designed by KTM to be the ultimate light-weight adventure bike. It has touring capabilities and is a blast off-road thanks to its high-quality components, powerful engine and great suspensions. I have ridden LA-Barstow-Vegas last year with it and it was equally comfortable on fire trails, deep sand, rocky steep hills. This bike is incredibly versatile. If you look at this posting, you probably know this bike inside out anyway. Mine has has 27,200 miles on the odo (very low for a 2003 model year), I have maintained it well and did a few upgrades: - crash bars - rental fat bars - new grips - Touratech sprocket protection - all fluids change done - new break pads front and rear - new tires front and rear - fold in mirrors - lithium battery - aftermarket seat (much much more confortable than the OEM) - battery tender connection - when I bought the bike the original grey paint was in terrible condition so I had it repainted to the KTM orange a year ago. This is my 2006 KTM 640 Adventure. I'm the original owner. It has taken me across the country on the Trans-Am Trail, and on trips to Mexico. It runs great, and is ready for its next adventure. I just bought a new bike and need to sell this one to make room. It comes with: Touratech Zega paniers Heated grips wired with an aerostich non-resistance heat controller KTM tankbag (not pictured) KTM soft topcase (not pictured) Laminar Lip (not pictured) KTM GPS/Rollchart mount bar (no GPS included) Charcoal canister replaced with euro-model toolbox Rear brake lever replaced with 660 Rally model with brake snake Kaoko throttle lock Accerbis two-piece front fender KTM short fender extension Key-switched fusebox mounted between instruments and mask After market side-stand Extra powerlet accessory plug Battery tender cable installed KTM two-piece orange rear sprocket (aluminum body, steel teeth) KTM racing exhaust (not currently installed, will include with bike) The bike has less than 33k miles, about 50/50 street dirt. Currently has Mefo Explorer tires that are pretty well worn (rear is decent, but front has some cupping). After getting stuck in the mud on a trip I replaced the original low front fender with a high fender. To do this, I removed one of the front disc rotors/calipers, and replaced the double banjo bolt on the first caliper. I also replaced the front brake lever/master cylinder assembly with the one from the earlier year model. This is the setup that was standard on this model prior to 2004 and is much more appropriate to offroad use. I still have all the parts I removed to do this (NOT INCLUDING THE LOW FENDER) and will include them with the bike. Imperfections: Scratches on the sides of the tank from off-road spills Lids to the paniers rattle as they have loosened over time Small hole in the dash where a switch used to be mounted to control the heated grips Laminar lip tends to fall off when riding off-road. New dual lock dots would fix this, but I haven't had time to order them - They cost less than $10 from Laminar. Rims have some scratches from tire changes. Note - I had this bike up on an auction site, but the buyer never followed through (never received any communication from him). So that's why it may look familiar if you have been looking there as well.
