Ariel, BMW, BSA, Belle Plaine Excelsior Henderson, Harley Davidson, Indian Brave, Indian Enfield, Norton, Royal Enfield, Triumph, to name a few. 1953 Indian Brave. A short history of the Indian Brave: The first Indians were built in Springfield, MA in 1902.The duPont Company took control of the Indian Motocycle Company (yes MOTOcycle) in 1930, but poor profits from too few Army contracts inticed them to sell to Ralph Rogers in 1945. Rogers turned his engineering expertise to small vertical singles and twins, hoping to compete with the British invasion. He continued producing the Chief through 1948, but slowed production of the Chief in '49, concentrating instead on the new bikes. But the new bikes had been hastily engineered and badly produced. Rogers had borrowed heavily from Brockhouse Ltd. in England, who owned Excelsior Motorcycles in Birmingham. In 1950, Brockhouse called in the debt, and divided Indian into separate sales and manufacturing companies.Brockhouse introduced the Indian Brave you see here, which used a side-valve unit-construction engine. Its piston displaced 248.326 cc (76mm x 64.5mm bore). The bike featured a modified Albion three-speed gearbox and put out 8.25 HP. The motorcycle was capable of 50 mph cruising speed, with a top speed of nearly 60 mph, and got 80 mpg.Rogers went out of business in 1953, making the Springfield Indian Company here in America officially bankrupt. But Brockhouse still owned the rights to the Indian name, and was still selling their Braves to Indian dealerships here in America in 1954. According to my research, approximately 14,000 Indian Braves were produced and sold (both here in America and in England), which would make this bike number 7,502 out of apx 14,000.Brockhouse stopped manufacturing motorcycles in 1955 to concentrate on badging Royal Enfields as Indians, and imported these models to the Indian dealerships here in the US until 1960. But that's another chapter in Indian's history. This bike has been completely restored. Crankshaft-to-piston crown and wheel-to-wheel. Everything is new or re-fabricated. The original header and muffler are in very good condition. Mechanically, the bike needs nothing. The title is clear. The original chronometric speedometer is in beautiful condition. But the parts for the speedometer drive are no longer available, so the speedometer does not work. The bike has a wheel-base of 52.06". Tires are 300X18. Seat height is 29" without rider. Handlebar height measures 37" from center of grip-end to the road. Adjusting bars forward or backward will alter this height. Actual wet weight (ride-ready, w/battery, all fluids, 1/8 gallon gas in tank) is 233 pounds. (49% weight on front wheel, 51% of weight on rear wheel) Add 6 pounds per gallon of gas, which may alter front/rear weight percentages. Everything is stock except the piston (Wiseco), chain, sprockets, battery box .... The bike was produced and sold with NO battery box at all, battery just sticking out like a sore thumb. We fabricated a nice-looking, period-correct battery box. Also non-stock are the tires and inner tubes, cables, handlebar grips, many assorted bushings, bearings and gaskets. The seat is period-correct and was on the bike when we acquired it. All the wiring is new, fabricated and covered in period-looking sheathing, routed as we observed in 1953 advertising photos. I assume the handle bar levers are stock, as they look period-correct. They were on the bike when we acquired it. The frame is repainted, the tank and fenders are repainted. The decals are NOS, made in the late 40's/early 50's, purchased from the Indian Owners Club of America. They were very brittle, and we went through three sets before we succeeded, and even then the right side is not perfect. Tank has been clear-coated after the decals were applied. Over the years, the storied builder of America's most coveted bikes has fully tapped our culture, inspiring t-shirts, tattoos and even other vehicles. In short: Harley-Davidson is more than just a motorcycle, it's a lifestyle. That said; it's the motorcycles that keep enthusiasts coming back. Nearly every year, model, frame and engine has its own set of diehards that swear by a particular Harley vision. But, no matter your preference, it's hard to deny the significance of a sweet bike like this 1948 UL Flathead. Restored by one of the best Harley gurus in the country, this world-class scoot is a shining example of why every gearhead loves a HOG. And if you're in the market for a little 2-wheel royalty, it's your first-class ticket to open road freedom! APPEARANCE Originally introduced in 1938, Harley-Davidson's UL Sport Solo line ran the gamut from broad-shouldered cruiser all the way to commercial utility bike. Lovingly restored, and kept on permanent display, this lust-worthy UL hasn't logged any miles since the last wrench was turned on its NOS Harley hardware. A mirror-like coat of black paint serves as the foundation for era-correct scallops that are detailed with red pin striping. At the front of that pigment, the dark vibes start with an NOS Harley fender, which parades NOS Harley trim and an NOS Harley light in front of a correct fuel tank. Simple and classically shaped, that attractive tank, equipped with a factory dash, breaks perfectly in to an NOS buddy seat that's propped on NOS buddy springs. That saddle hangs over a second NOS Harley fender that centers an NOS tombstone taillight behind an NOS Harley bumper. And overall, this UL features classy, retro-cool aesthetics that are sure to age just as well as their high quality components allow. ACCESSORIES Restored to mix timeless visuals with a roster of components that was tirelessly hoarded over many years, this HOG is a virtual Case Study in authenticity. Up front, a correct Springer fork rides between an NOS Beck headlamp, NOS Harley handlebars, NOS Beck throttle grips and a polished brake handle that controls a correct brake system. Behind those bars, NOS Harley pegs, NOS Harley running boards and NOS Harley mats let the rider kick back, stretch his or her legs and chase the sun. Beneath those components, NOS Harley exhaust hangs a finned tip behind NOS Harley slinky covers. And cool bits, like a polished horn, a yellow kick pedal and a vintage fire extinguisher, show that someone really sweated the details. CHASSIS By the late '40s Harley had successfully recovered from the Great Depression and kick started civilian production on the coat tails of World War II. The 1948 model year would be the last to use the Springer fork, but little else changed when it came to the bike's foundation. And, naturally, this UL has been fully rebuilt to era-correct status all the way down to its NOS shock absorber. That stiff suspension is great at ensuring the rider gets an authentic feel for the road. There's an NOS Harley electrical system that works well with an NOS Harley accessory carb choke. And everything rolls on NOS Harley rims, which twist NOS Beck tires around NOS hubs and NOS cadmium spokes. DRIVETRAIN After almost two decades of manufacture, Harley had tweaked their flathead engines into well-tuned running gear. That said; 1948 would be the last year of the Big Twin UL, as it and the brand's wildly popular 'Knucklehead' were replaced by an upgraded V-Twin that would eventually earn the nickname 'Panhead'. That means this bike's original, 74 cubic inch flathead was an interesting rarity even in its heyday. Naturally, that VIN-matched powerplant is outfitted with an array of NOS components, including aluminum motor heads and old school primary covers. Electricity still takes the shape of a 6-volt system, which is augmented with a vintage-look gel cell battery. And behind that zero-mile motor, a correct Harley 4-speed processes commands from an NOS Beck gearshift knob. In addition to great aesthetics, this incredible motorcycle provides an authentic riding experience that's sure to inspire memories for older bikers while creating plenty of adventure for young enthusiasts. Widely considered one of the most exclusive Harleys ever built, it only makes sense that a pristine example of the famed UL Flathead would make its way to the front of our legendary showroom. That means there's only one part of the story left to tell: the part where one lucky enthusiast rides their new classic in to a golden sunset. And since no two can ever distress the same, each becomes a completely unique commemorative "sculpture." The finishing touch is a bold gold Cloisonné showing the Harley-Davidson® Bar and Shield. (Available only on 110th Anniversary Edition models)Twin Cam 103™ Engine HeritageThe knowledge of what makes an engine truly move a rider runs deep at The Motor Company, and it was put to good use when we created the Twin Cam 103™ engine. We painstakingly perfected every cubic inch, pushing design and technology forward—all without compromising one bit of Harley-Davidson®'s unique styling. Evolved, yet carrying on the legacy of the Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution®, Twin Cam 88® and Twin Cam 96™ engines that came before. The performance and durability are a direct result of the untold miles logged on the V-Twin since 1909, and the proud heritage that comes from a century's worth of commitment to life on two wheels.Harman/Kardon® Advanced Audio SystemNaturally, the king of the road gets some royal extras. The premium two-speaker, 20-watt per channel Harman/Kardon® audio system boasts great sound for booming down the boulevard and highway, and, yeah, it might as well go to 11. It's loud, proud and comes with AM/FM receiver and accommodates a CD or MP3 player. Riding free just wouldn't be the same without the right soundtrack.Dunlop® Multi-Tread™ TiresThe 180mm back tire is engineered to do more than fill out the rear fender and put a bigger patch of rubber on the road. Dunlop® Multi-Tread™ technology uses harder compounds at the center and softer on the sides for a tire that still knows how to knuckle-down on corners. Perfect for making this bike agile on every curvy stretch of road. And the way it feels going through an abrupt off-camber turn will put a grin on your face that'll last to the next state line.2013 Harley-Davidson® FLHTK Electra Glide® Ultra LimitedYear2013ManufacturerHarley-Davidson®Model NameFLHTK Electra Glide®Trim NameUltra LimitedGeneric Type (Primary)TouringDimensionsLength98.6 in.Seat Height, Laden27.3 in.Seat Height, Unladen29.1 in.Ground Clearance5.1 in.Rake (steering head) (deg)26Trail6.7 in.Wheelbase63.5 in.Tires, Front SpecificationNW 130/80B17 65HTires, Rear SpecificationNW 180/65B16 81HFuel Capacity6 gal.Oil Capacity (w/filter)4 qt.Weight, As Shipped882 lb.Weight, In Running Order911 lb.Luggage Capacity -Volume4.52 cu ftEngineAir-cooled Twin Cam 103™ with Integrated Oil-CoolerBore3.875 in.Stroke4.38 in.Displacement103 cu inCompression Ratio9.6:1Fuel SystemElectronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI)DrivetrainPrimary DriveChain, 34/46 ratioGear Ratios (overall) 1st9.593Gear Ratios (overall) 2nd6.65Gear Ratios (overall) 3rd4.938Gear Ratios (overall) 4th4Gear Ratios (overall) 5th3.407Gear Ratios (overall) 6th2.875ExhaustChrome, 2-1-2 dual exhaust with tapered mufflersWheel Type, FrontBlack and Chrome, 28-spoke Cast AluminumWheels Type, RearBlack and Chrome, 28-spoke Cast AluminumBrakes, Caliper Type32 mm, 4-piston fixed front and reaPerformanceEngine Torque Testing MethodJ1349Engine Torque100 ft-lbEngine Torque (rpm)3,250Lean Angle, Right (deg.)33Lean Angle, Left (deg.)31Fuel Economy: Combined City/Hwy42 mpgElectricLightingHigh beam, running lights, front fender running lights, directional light bar, low oil pressure, engine diagnostics, cruise control, speakers, accessory, security system, 6-speed, low fuel warning, ABSGaugesFairing-mounted electronic speedometer with odometer; time-of-day clock on CD player/stereo; dual trip meter; low fuel indicator light and mileage countdown feature; low oil pressure indicator light; engine diagnostics readout; LED indicator lights; 6-speed indicator light; cruise control indicator light Tachometer with fuel, voltage, oil pressure and ambient air temperature gaugesLocationDurham, North CarolinaConditionPre-OwnedStock NumberDB695667Year2013MakeHarley-Davidson®ModelFLHTK - Electra Glide® Ultra LimitedFamilyTouringVIN1HD1KEM10DB695667EngineAir-cooled Twin Cam 103™ with Integrated Oil-Cooler

Black like the frame with a retro feel adds to the old school attitude. Give your passenger something to hold, or strap on a bedroll for a weekend run.Beefy Triple Clamps & Forks: This is what makes a Wide Glide® unique—beefy triple clamps and raked out forks for a long, wide style. The shear amount of steel up front gives this Harley-Davidson® motorcycle a defining look, one you can see coming for miles. Just as fat and aggressive-looking as the first Wide Glide® model built by Chief Styling Officer Willie G. Davidson back in 1980.Blacked Out Rims & Large Front Wheel: Raw, gritty and no-nonsense—the Wide Glide® model features black laced steel wheels with a large 21" wheel up front for a quintessential long custom look. Out back, the 17" rim is wrapped in a 180mm tire for a perfectly proportioned rear end.Clean Rear Fender Styling: The lines are clean as the distant horizon and the fender is cut short with a side-mounted license plate bracket for an old school look. Fastened to the fender are retro-style, bullet stop-turn-tail lights that combine to work twice as hard for you—stop beams and running lights plus turn indicators in two low-profile rear lamps.Drag-Style Handlebar: The Wide Glide® motorcycle features an internally wired 1 1/4-inch bar with tall risers. This beefy custom handlebar is truly reminiscent of a classic, old school raked-out chopper. And with the wires buried in the steel, you get a clean, minimal look with nothing standing in your way.Iconic EnginePure Harley-Davidson Styling: Feast your eyes on the Twin Cam 103™ engine and there's no mistaking its roots. This is authentic Harley-Davidson style through and through with an attention to detail you won't find from any other motorcycle company. Black powder-coated heads and cylinders are highlighted by machined cooling fin tips and chrome rocker covers. It's a jewel machined out of metal. Pure. Dripping with power. From the classic edge of the cooling fins to the clean lines of cases and covers—the Twin Cam 103™ engine makes an ironclad statement about holding on to what's right and staying true to what satisfies.Six-Speed Cruise Drive® Transmission: You want a ride that rumbles—not begs for mercy—when you lean on it a little. The Six-Speed Cruise Drive® transmission provides smooth, quiet shifting and reduces engine speed on the highway, so you get a better match between engine turnover and road speed. It's a rare ride when a bike responds like this, and a low growl goes a long way when you're opening up the road ahead.Twin Cam 103™ Engine Heritage: The knowledge of what makes an engine truly move a rider runs deep at The Motor Company, and it was put to good use when we created the Twin Cam 103™; engine. We sweated bullets perfecting every cubic inch, pushing design and technology forward. And we did it all without compromising one bit of Harley-Davidson's unique styling. Evolved, yet carrying on the legacy of the Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution®, Twin Cam 88®; and Twin Cam 96™ engines that came before. The performance and durability are a direct result of the untold miles logged on the V-Twin since 1909, and the proud heritage that comes from a century's worth of commitment to life on two wheels.Twin Cam 103™ Engine Innovation: Fire up the Twin Cam 103™ engine and feel the low-end torque unleashed. Thanks to the lightweight piston design, delivery of the added power is more refined than ever. Then put your foot on the shifter and feel how the engine and Six-Speed Cruise Drive® transmission were designed to work together. Six speeds. A strong driveline and strong internal parts. Low routine maintenance. And a low cruising rpm couldn't feel better.Twin Cam 103™ Engine Power: Live your ride to the power of Twin Cam 103™. The air cooled Twin Cam 103™ Harley Davidson® engine delivers more stump pulling torque, while its Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection jetting gives crisp, lively throttle reaction. It’s a performance punch that you’ll appreciate when passing, climbing hills, or rolling with luggage packed or a passenger in back—all under that signature Motor Company rumble. And it comes at lower cruising rpm, so you ride more smoothly, with less engine vibration and better highway fuel economy.TechnologyH-D® Smart Security System (Optional): The factory-installed next-generation security system features a hands-free fob that automatically arms and disarms the vehicle electronic security functions as you approach and walk away from the bike. Stick the fob on your ignition key ring and let it do all the work. It's this attention to details and security that make Harley-Davidson® motorcycles unique.Standard Anti-Lock Brakes: You may be cruising with swagger, but you know safety counts. This sophisticated ABS gives 'stopping power' a double meaning. Its components are tastefully hidden within the wheel hub, so you'll still turn heads with clean, streamlined design. But more importantly, you get certainty in the saddle knowing your bike's going to behave when you need it.HandlingAdjustable Suspension: Easily adjust preload with a spanner wrench to suit your suspension to your riding style. The slammed low rear suspension gives you a more laid-back riding position and style. Low-profile, kicked back for profiling down the boulevard and hugging corners.Michelin® Scorcher™ Tires: Michelin® Scorcher™ Tires provide the superior performance, sensational grip, impressive durability and excellent handling expected on a race-bred bike. The exclusive deep-cut tread design improves grip and water evacuation capability. Grip performance and durability is also enhanced by the tire's rubber compounds, which use the latest generation of Michelin synthetic polymers. Under the rear rubber, aramid belts are used to stabilize your ride, which helps inspire confidence in handling.ComfortForward-Mounted Controls: With the custom forward-mounted controls on the Wide Glide® model, you can kick back a little and stretch your legs for the ultimate cruise through town or across the state line. It's time to take in the open road the way you were meant to—on a two-wheeled machine that's built to outdo the rest.DimensionsLength: 96.3 in. (2,445 mm)Seat Height, Laden: 25.5 in. The amount of torque and horsepower it delivers over the RPM range is in direct proportion to the feeling it gives you when you roll on the throttle. We know what riders want from a motorcycle engine because we’ve been building them for 110 years. Project RUSHMORE gave us the opportunity to dial it in just right. We conducted thousands of road tests with real riders giving us feedback to build the next iteration of the legendary Harley-Davidson® engine. The consensus was: We want more. More low-end torque, more passing power, more perfection in the tone of the exhaust note, more of the feeling we ride a motorcycle for. So we built the engines that deliver it. We’re proud to unveil the next level of Harley-Davidson® V-Twin engine. And prove once and for all, the customer is always right.Pure Harley-Davidson Styling: Feast your eyes on the Twin Cam 103™ engine and there's no mistaking its roots. This is authentic Harley-Davidson style through and through with an attention to detail you won't find from any other motorcycle company. The Six-Speed Cruise Drive® transmission provides smooth, quiet shifting and reduces engine speed on the highway, so you get a better match between engine turnover and road speed. And the Isolated Drive System makes acceleration flow in a smooth, steady stream from your wrist right down to the pavement. And it comes at lower cruising rpm, so you ride more smoothly, with less engine vibration and better highway fuel economy.High Output Twin Cam 103™ Engine: Asking riders if they’d like more passing power is like asking them “Would you like more beer in the pitcher” when they have reached their final destination at the end of a long, dusty ride. Everybody wants it, and the new High Output Twin Cam 103™ engine is 103 cubic inches of Harley-Davidson V-Twin you can rely on to deliver it. There’s a new airbox for increased intake airflow and a new cam that optimizes phase and duration. The result: better low end torque and faster 60 to 80 mph 5th gear roll-on to get you around that 18-wheeler. In the tradition of the Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution® Twin Cam 88® and Twin Cam 96® engines that came before it, the new High Output Twin Cam 103™ engine is raising the bar for the feeling an engine delivers to the rider. There’s a reason we’re called the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Once you send some fuel this one, you’ll have do doubt what it is.ConfidenceProject RUSHMORE - Confidence: Here are some of the innovations The Rider Project led to: the new Reflex™ Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Linked Brakes, new dual halogen and LED headlamps and fog lamps, brighter Tour Pak® lighting, brighter turn signals, brighter brake lights, and a new steering head with stiffer front forks. Locked-up tires are now history even when there’s wet pavement. We’ve made it feel even better to lean your way through a turn. Now you can see better. And we’ve made you more conspicuous to the cage-driving public. Because one thing we all agree on is this: Bikes that work better make riders who ride better. Take a ride. See how good you can be.Reflex™ Linked Brakes with Anti-lock Braking System: No doubt about it, there are times riding when you need to haul things down in a hurry. And you don’t get to pick those times. Or decide whether or not they occur when you’re on a flat, smooth, dry, perfect new stretch of pavement. That’s why our touring models feature new Reflex™ anti-lock braking (ABS) with dynamically, electronically linked brakes. ABS turns a locked up front wheel or a rear wheel skid into a relic from riding’s history. And the front and rear brakes are electronically linked to provide exactly the right amount of brake to each tire no matter what the road condition is. No matter how good you are, this will make you a better rider.New Steering Head and Front Forks: Whether it’s a big sweeping curve or a set of tight turns, getting through the corners just got better. We stiffened up the front end, increased the fork diameter to 49mm and added new steel ball bearings, with lubricant contained inside to keep contaminants out for durability. The responsiveness is dialed in.Air-Adjustable Suspension: With air-adjustable suspension that comes standard, you can dial in your ride to accommodate heavier or lighter payloads, battle unexpected road conditions or simply set it to how you like to roll. The lighter the load, the softer you can go by decreasing the air pressure a bit, or increase the air pressure for a more firm ride. A convenient air valve is located between the saddlebag and rear fender for quick adjusting. It's all about rider and passenger comfort and setting your bike to fit your taste—the easy way.Brembo® Brakes: Confidence. Control. High-performance dual disc Brembo® brakes offer consistent stopping power at all speeds. The 4-piston front and rear caliper with dual front rotor brake system is state of the art and top of the line. It's just another way The Motor Company puts a high level of detail into their bikes to give you peace of mind throughout your journey.Dunlop® Multi-Tread™ Tires: The 180mm back tire is engineered to do more than fill out the rear fender and put a bigger patch of rubber on the road. Dunlop® Multi-Tread™ technology uses harder compounds at the center and softer on the sides for a tire that still knows how to knuckle-down on corners. Perfect for making this bike agile on every curvy stretch of road. And the way it feels going through an abrupt off-camber turn will put a grin on your face that'll last to the next state line.H-D® Smart Security System (Optional): The factory installed next-generation security system features a hands-free fob that automatically arms and disarms the vehicle electronic security functions as you approach and walk away from the bike. Stick the fob on your ignition key ring and let it do all the work. It's this attention to details and security that make Harley-Davidson® motorcycles unique.New ergonomically designed hand controls: It’s hard to enjoy the ride or keep your eyes focused on what’s coming down the road when you’re fussing and bothering with the switches on your handlebar. So we’ve worked over the hand controls on our new touring bikes with as much passion as we’ve worked over our new engine. We made the shape more ergonomic and located and angled them to fall right under your thumbs. We’ve added left-hand cruise for easy activation, an easily locatable trigger switch to control and scan through functional readouts. And we’ve improved the feel to give you a confidence-inspiring click at every push of a button. And it’s all prewired for parts and accessories, which even lets you customize with less fuss and bother.Dual Halogen Headlight and Fog Lamps: When the sun goes low, the amount of road you have your eyes trained on stays high .Sitting inside that classic Hiawatha nacelle, you got a new dual halogen headlamp and halogen fog lamps to match. Boasting a higher quality of light than previous models courtesy of a darkness-defying 986 lumens, they ensure you’ll have no trouble seeing everything out there that needs to be seen.Authentic StylingProject RUSHMORE - Styling: Project RUSHMORE is the journey we set out on to take our touring motorcycles to places never imagined before – to turn all the possibilities for what a motorcycle can be now into true Milwaukee steel. We did it our way, as we’ve always done. As riders. Riding with other riders. Thousand of hours, countless road tests, millions of miles. Looking for the technology and innovations that truly make the ride better. We went over the bike fender tip to fender tip. Making it work better. Making it look sleeker. Modern. Clean. Tight. Let your eye take the journey over the machine. This is classic Harley-Davidson style and an all-new look at the exact same time. At Harley-Davidson, form has always followed function. And both have always reported to emotion. Now we’re just doing it on a completely different level.Low Mounted License Plate: We keep the back end clean and classy with a low mounted license plate that features little visible hardware. As an extra touch, we throw some LED lighting around the tag for crisp visibility and style—just enough to give your tail end a glow when you're riding through the night. This completes the classic, uncluttered look of the Road King® model.Classic Fuel Tank: Part of the unmistakable style of the Harley-Davidson® Road King® motorcycle is plenty of room for showing off your paint. This classically styled, bold six-gallon fuel tank doesn't just give you a bigger canvas for premium or custom paint; it holds six gallons of go so you can eat up a lot more road between pit stops. A dual-color paint scheme and unique Harley-Davidson waterslide graphics give this bike a truly one-of-a-kind look.Classic Hiawatha Headlamp: Big and commanding, this headlamp hearkens back to the Big Twins of the 60s. You get nothing less than the latest in materials and technology. Clear-lens reflector optics provide a longer distance high beam and wider low beam. It's a bright, striking daytime lamp that blasts a little further into the night. There's just no beating the classic lines of that sweeping headlight nacelle.New Tank And Fender Badges: This isn’t just a motorcycle. It’s a work of art, born out of passion, creativity and long days, late nights and refusing to be satisfied until every detail was perfect. When we added the signature, we did it with metal. Nothing else would be right on this masterpiece.New Tank Mounted Gauges: New graphics and wider numbers show up on the Road King® motorcycle's gauges this year. There are also a new RPM read out and a new gear indicator in the odometer display area. One quick glance tells you everything you need to know.Agitator Chrome Wheels: The Road King® motorcycle rides on custom Agitator 7-spoke, mirror-chrome wheels wrapped in classic wide white wall tires. And there's a new brake rotor designed to show more of the wheel and a cut back front fender that uncovers more of the white wall tire. Nostalgia, meet the cutting edge of street custom.ComfortProject RUSHMORE - Comfort: The comfort of our machines has been dialed in the hard way: Over 110 years and thousands of miles in all kinds of conditions on every kind of street, road and highway ever laid down in pavement. Long hours in the saddle are the only way there is to learn what you need to know about things like airflow, heat management, seat materials and textures and the amount of effort it takes to pull a clutch lever. We don't stop until we build the most comfortable machines you can throw a leg over. We all want to go farther, and when you and your rider are more comfortable in the saddle, you can.Full-Length Footboards & Toe/Heel Gear Shifts: Your boots were made for riding—any way you see fit. Our full-length footboards boast a time-tested, tried-and-true design and rubber isolation for a comfortable ride, while the height-adjustable passenger boards add another level of customizable comfort for your riding partner. And for shifting gears, you can use either the traditional toe-shift or the even easier, more convenient heel-shift. It might take a few rides, but once you've gotten used to the smooth shifting rhythm, you'll never give it up.Two-Up Road King® Seat: A classic feature revamped for contemporary looks and performance—without sacrificing an ounce of nostalgic style. Sculpted with a deep bucket and narrow neck this ultimate Touring saddle relieves pressure on your thighs, while providing more back support and comfort for a wide variety of rider sizes. And the lower seat height—26.5 inches to be exact—puts your feet closer to the road to enhance your confidence. Additionally, the leather trim and premium stitching accentuate the advanced ergonomics while giving the seat that sharp detail you only find on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. It's science in service of comfort, and your way to beat fatigue over the long haul.Wide Set Handlebar: Style and maximum comfort. That's the perfect balance of the wide set handlebars that come standard on the Road King® model. They're designed to keep you comfortably propped in a commanding position while making sure your neck muscles stay calm and relaxed mile after mile, state after state. Durable stainless steel insures the structural rigidity you expect from a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle with the deep, lustrous finish you desire.Detachable Windshield: Go from touring to cruising in a heartbeat. Detach the screen for a clean, cool cruising style, or re-attach it in seconds for a clean envelope of air over the long haul. The windshield is as tough as they come—durable, scratch resistant, low maintenance. And whether you choose to have it on off, your Road King® motorcycle rules with a nostalgic style and versatility you can make your own.Standard Cruise Control: Installing cruise control is standard operating procedure on the new touring models because riding long stretches of unbroken highway is standard operating procedure among touring riders. Electronic throttle control means no cable cluttering up your handlebar. And the switches are placed where you can easily dial in your speed with your left thumb, give the wrist a break, and keep hauling on down the road.ConvenienceProject RUSHMORE - Convenience: If you want the ride to be truly epic, you have to sweat bullets to make the little things work exactly right. This is what Project RUSHMORE was all about. Now you have saddlebags that can be easily opened with one hand. Compartments that open with one touch. And we’ve increased the storage space on these new machines without ruining the sleek, road-eating look of the bike. It all adds up to hundreds of little moments where things just click conveniently into place. Because there can be no imperfections in the quest for the perfect ride. One Touch Design Philosophy: Here’s the rule we laid down for every compartment cover and saddlebag lid on our touring line: if it doesn’t open with the single touch of a button or one hand, while wearing gloves, it doesn’t go on the motorcycle. Because in all our conversations with all the riders we talked while we were rebuilding these motorcycles from the ground up, we didn’t encounter a single individual who wanted to have to put something on the ground before he could store it in a saddlebag.New Saddlebag Design: Don’t let the sleek new look of these saddlebags deceive you. The look is tight on the outside, but things just got a little roomier on the inside. You want stuffability and these deliver bigger than ever. The hinges are simple and clean and the lids they open with one touch of one hand. The lock is tight and integrated into the latch where you can put the key in without the danger of scratching your premium paint. Welcome to the next level of the bagger.DimensionsLength: 96.5 in. And prove once and for all, the customer is always right.Twin-Cooled High Output Twin Cam 103® Engine: If you started in 1909 with the very first Harley-Davidson V-Twin engine and worked your way up through every engine, every innovation, every improvement, every ride, every durability test in all those years and countless miles since, you arrive at the Twin Cooled High Output Twin Cam 103™ engine. This is the top of the line. 103 cubic inches of air and precision cooled Harley-Davidson® V-twin power. Twin cooling cools the heads around the exhaust ports to deliver at or near peak performance under all operating conditions and temperatures. Higher compression ratio increases efficiency and horsepower. There’s a new airbox for increased airflow and a new cam to optimize low-end torque. It’s got the fastest 60 to 80 mph 5th gear roll on in the history of Harley-Davidson. Which means it’s got the most passing power in the history of Harley-Davidson. On top of all that, it puts less heat on the rider and passenger on scorching days and in stop and go traffic.Pure Harley-Davidson Styling: Feast your eyes on the Twin Cam 103™ engine and there's no mistaking its roots. From the classic edge of the cooling fins to the clean lines of cases and covers—the Twin Cam 103™ engine makes an ironclad statement to holding on to what's right and staying true to what satisfies the rider.Six-Speed Cruise Drive® Transmission: You want a ride that rumbles—not begs for mercy—when you lean on it a little. It's a rare ride when a bike responds like this, and a low growl goes a long way when you're opening up the road ahead.Twin Cam 103™ Engine Heritage: The knowledge of what makes an engine truly move a rider runs deep at The Motor Company, and it was put to good use when we created the Twin Cam 103™ engine. We painstakingly perfected every cubic inch, pushing design and technology forward—all without compromising one bit of Harley-Davidson's unique styling. Evolved, yet carrying on the legacy of the Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution®, Twin Cam 88® and Twin Cam 96™ engines that came before. And a low cruising rpm couldn't feel better.InfotainmentProject RUSHMORE - Infotainment: More sound. Purer sound. Big, full color touch screens. Switches that are located where you intuitively want them to be and can reach without removing your hands from the grips. Voice activation for your music, phone and GPS. Or as more than one rider asked: “Why can’t the infotainment system on my motorcycle blow away the ones the car companies put in their cars?” We couldn’t agree more. Check out the new infotainment system Project RUSHMORE brought to the sport of motorcycling. You won’t believe your eyes. Or ears.5.25-inch Front and Rear Speakers: The sound delivered front and rear comes from 5.25-inch speakers mounted securely in sealed and tuned enclosed speaker housings.New 6.5-inch Full Color Touch Screen Display: This 6.5-inch full color touch screen puts all your information in front of you bigger than ever. Modern graphics, colors you can dial in, and auto and manual dim. Design to sit stylishly inside your fairing, it takes screen technology to a new level of Harley-Davidson functionality. This is more than you expect, but when you’re going all the way, it’s everything you deserve.Ready For Your Upgrades: The new Boom!™ Box 6.5GT was built with your personal touches in mind. You can integrate P & A satellite radio right into the vehicle radio with no external mounting and control it through the hand controls. Additional satellite services such as weather and traffic can be added and overplayed on the GPS maps. You can even download map upgrades and additional functions. The only question is, how far do you want to go?Jukebox with USB Port for iPod/iPhone: The Jukebox opens with one touch of a button and includes a USB connection which accepts your iPhone, iTouch, non-iPod imitators, and SD card and other USB compatible devices. Pop it open, plug in and your device becomes a part of your motorcycle. Ready to be operated by voice command or hand controls.New Fairing Reduces Head Buffeting: This is what the science of cheating the wind involves at Harley-Davidson now: Fluid mechanics, algorithms, high-speed super computers and thousands upon thousands of wind-tunnel tests with riders in the saddle telling us how it feels. And that’s before we take it out on the road for thousands of miles of real world wind gusts and every form of rain a cloud can spit out. The result: a brand new take on the classic Batwing fairing that delivers smoother air flow and reduced head buffeting. Most of it thanks to the pressure-equalizing duct on the front. It opens and closes with one touch of a button. The feeling of being in the wind just got even better.New Boom!™ Box 6.5GT Radio: Let’s start with the big news: 25% more volume for your tunes. The new Boom!™ Box 6.5GT Radio puts out 25 watts per channel at 1% distortion and features a factory-tuned, optimized equalizer that pumps out more power and can be played louder while maintaining the clarity of your sound. And the new speed tuning system delivers more than just volume changes at different speeds. It changes the level of bass and treble to dial-in the best sound, whether you’re running at stately pace down the strip or going hell for leather down an open stretch of road. How do you like the sound of a Harley® motorcycle now?Voice Recognition, Bluetooth: The Boom!™ Box 6.5GT gives you voice recognition for hands free operation of your mobile phone, navigation system and music. It’s also Bluetooth capable. Whatever you want, just say the word. Whether it’s directions to the next gas station, a call back to the office you’re not at today or a song that fits the stretch of road you’re on, it’ll be served up without missing a beat.ConfidenceProject RUSHMORE - Confidence: Here are some of the innovations The Rider Project led to: the new Reflex™ Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Linked Brakes, new dual halogen and LED headlamps and fog lamps, brighter Tour Pak® lighting, brighter turn signals, brighter brake lights, and a new steering head with stiffer front forks. No matter how good you are, this will make you a better rider.Daymaker™ LED Headlights and LED Fog Lamps: For those who regard darkness as an invitation to go farther, the Daymaker™ LED headlight with LED fog lamps will light the way. With 2,136 powerful, daylight-simulating lumens that bathe the dark road in natural light, a shoulder-to-shoulder spread of 160 feet and a 450-foot punch, the night is yours to take with full confidence. Because not all of us look for an exit when day turns to night.New Ergonomically Designed Hand Controls: It’s hard to enjoy the ride or keep your eyes focused on what’s coming down the road when you’re fussing and bothering with the switches on your handlebar. So we’ve worked over the hand controls on our new touring bikes with as much passion as we’ve worked over our new engine. We made the shape more ergonomic and located and angled them to fall right under your thumbs. We’ve added left-hand cruise for easy activation, new toggle switches to control infotainment functions, an easily locatable trigger switch to control and scan through functional readouts. And we’ve improved the feel to give you a confidence-inspiring click at every push of a button. Even the dash panel switch gets better. And it’s all prewired for parts and accessories, which even lets you customize with less fuss and bother.New Steering Head and Front Forks: Whether it’s a big sweeping curve set of tight turns, getting through the corners just got better. It's just another way The Motor Company puts a high level of detail into their bikes to give you peace of mind throughout your journey.Dunlop® Multi-Tread™ Tires: The 180mm back tire does more than fill out the rear fender and put a bigger patch of rubber on the road. Dunlop® Multi-Tread™ technology uses harder compounds at the center and softer on the sides for a tire that still knows how to knuckle-down on corners. Perfect for making this bike agile on every curvy stretch of road. And the way it feels going through an abrupt off-camber turn will put a grin on your face that'll last to the next state line.H-D® Smart Security System: The factory installed next-generation security system features a hands-free fob that automatically arms and disarms the vehicle electronic security functions as you approach and walk away from the bike. Stick the fob on your ignition key ring and let it do all the work. It's this attention to details and security that make Harley-Davidson® motorcycle unique.Authentic StylingProject RUSHMORE - Styling: Project RUSHMORE is the journey we set out on to take our touring motorcycles to places never imagined before – to turn all the possibilities for what a motorcycle can be now into true Milwaukee steel. Now we’re just doing it on a completely different level.Restyled Fairing and Front Fender: Let’s start with this: When you see the iconic shape of a Harley-Davidson® Batwing fairing coming at you down the road, it leaves no question that you’re looking a machine born in Milwaukee and built for gigantic miles of road. But this is about moving forward. How do you maintain that iconic shape, yet give it a sleeker, more progressive style? The answer is right here. The new Batwing fairing gives you less head buffeting (see comfort section for the full story on that) but also the look that instantly announces “Hey, this is a HARLEY-DAVIDSON® motorcycle. Of course, we didn’t stop at the fairing. The fairing lowers and Tour-Pak® luggage carrier got a sleeker new look to match. And we worked over the front fender, too – with a clean new look that’s cut back to expose more of the wheel and tire. It all comes together for a look that’s totally new, yet instantly familiar. Welcome to the next generation of Harley-Davidson touring motorcycles.New Inner Fairing Design: Put your eye to the inner fairing of the Ultra Limited and you’ll see a whole new layout to greet the eye. There’s a bigger display screen (see the whole story in the infotainment section). The gauges have been given a new treatment, too. You’ll notice a 10 percent larger viewing area, wider, taller numbers sitting on top of that classic black background. The information gets bigger and better too. There’s a gear indicator for all six gears and the display area, which can now be operated by an extremely convenient trigger switch, puts more information at your fingertips. The temperature and fuel gauge are larger too. When you’re on the road, one quick glance tells you everything you need to know.Gloss Black Inner Fairing: A premium gloss black finish comes standard on the Ultra Limited. It's there because on a bike like this one, you can't help but go the extra mile.New Tank And Fender Badges: This isn’t just a motorcycle. It’s a work of art, born out of passion, creativity and long days, late nights and refusing to be satisfied until every detail was perfect. When we added the signature, we did it with metal. Nothing else would be right on this masterpiece.New Airbox: Our design philosophy can be summed up pretty simply: form follows function, but both report to emotion. This new airbox is a prime example of that. It’s the most functional airbox we’ve ever put on a Harley-Davidson® touring bike. It let’s the engine breathe better for more power, but it’s also designed to give you more leg room and provide better airflow around the rider. Emotion? That’s the part you feel when you look at it sitting right at the center of your V-Twin engine.Bullet Turn Signals: We went end to end and top to bottom to give the 2014 Harley-Davidson® Touring line-up the clean, tight, sharp, iconic look and feel that is only befitting of the next generation of our motorcycles. The finishing touch – bullet turn signals. Sleek and modern, yet a timeless classic.17" Impeller® Front Wheel with New Brake Rotor: Sitting out front on the Ultra Limited you’ll notice a 17-inch cast aluminum, 10-spoke Impeller wheel. In the back you’ve got a 16-inch Impeller to match. There are new brake rotors designed to show off more of the premium custom look of the wheels. Because if you’re going to go this far, you might as well take it all the way.Classic Fuel Tank: Part of the unmistakable style of the Harley-Davidson® Ultra Limited motorcycle is plenty of room for showing off your paint. This classically styled, bold six-gallon fuel tank doesn't just give you a bigger canvas for premium or custom paint; it holds six gallons of go so you can eat up a lot more road between pit stops. We know fuel economy is important—but so is style. A dual-color paint scheme, crisp pinstripes that run the length of the bike and special Harley-Davidson® tank medallions give this ride a one-of-a-kind look.ComfortProject RUSHMORE - Comfort: We dialed in the comfort of our machines the hard way: over thousands of miles in all kinds of riding conditions on every kind of street, road and highway ever laid down in pavement. Experienced riders and passengers putting in long hours in the saddle and giving us feedback on every aspect that contributes to comfort on the road. Airflow, heat management, passenger space, back rests, seat textures, leg room and hand controls all went under the hard microscope of the road and got tested and re-tested by real riders and worked and re-worked by us until we were satisfied we had built the most comfortable machines on the road. We all want to go farther, and when you and your passenger are more comfortable in the saddle, you can.New Fairing Lowers: There’s no such thing as a minor irritation when you’re going to be experiencing it for tens of thousands of miles. The little things make a difference. Like the way the wind comes around your fairing lowers. We’ve got the new fairing lowers dialed in just right, thanks to more wind tunnel and real world riding tests than we’ve ever done before. And the vents open with one touch when the going gets hot. You’ll appreciate them more with each passing mile.Newly Designed Back and Arm Rests: If you really want to know what makes a passenger comfortable, you start by asking people who’ve seen a good part of the world from the back of a bike. You run thousands of miles of road tests in heat, cold, sun, and rain. You use their input to perfect the height, the width, the shape, the contour, the texture of the leather, the lumbar support. You install controls that can be easily reached and operated with one hand. What you end up with is the back and arm rests you’re looking at right here. Passengers love them like they’re their own babies, because in a manner of speaking, they are.Standard Cruise Control: Installing cruise control is standard operating procedure on the new touring models because riding long stretches of unbroken highway is standard operating procedure among touring riders. Electronic throttle control means no cable cluttering up your handlebar. And the switches are placed where you can easily dial in your speed with your left thumb, give the wrist a break, and keep hauling on down the road.Full-Length Footboards & Toe/Heel Gear Shifts: Your boots were made for riding—any way you see fit. It might take a few rides, but once you've gotten used to the smooth shifting rhythm, you'll never give it up.Heated Hand Grips: When the chill gets at you, just having a little heat would be nice enough. But this is a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle and we're all about the details. Our heated handgrips have six settings, so you can easily adjust on the fly for the heat you need with the versatility and control you come to depend on.Wide Set Handlebar: Classic style and maximum comfort. That's the perfect balance of the wide set handlebars that come standard on the Ultra Limited model. They're designed to keep you comfortably propped in a commanding position while making sure your neck muscles stay calm and relaxed mile after mile, state after state. Durable stainless steel insures the structural rigidity you expect from a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle with the deep, lustrous finish you desire.Increased Passenger Seat Space and Leg Room: Here's a message for all passengers: Your time in the saddle just got better. That goes quadruple when you’re 1000 miles into the ride of a lifetime making the final leg of the day to get to the hot tub and relax for the evening. Because the longer the ride, the more you'll appreciate the improvements we made. This year the passenger pillion is one inch wider and one inch longer. We moved the saddlebag guards for more leg room. And we put 2 more inches of room between the speakers. It all adds up to a ride that provides best-in-class comfort.ConvenienceProject RUSHMORE - Convenience: If you want the ride to be truly epic, you have to sweat bullets to make the little things work exactly right. This is what Project RUSHMORE was all about. Now you have saddlebags and Tour-Pak® luggage carriers that can be easily opened with one hand. And new removable Travel Bags are standard. Welcome to the next level of the bagger.New Tour-Pak® Design: Like the new saddlebags, the new Tour-Pak® luggage carrier design is sporting a sleeker new look, but it didn’t come at the expense of storage space. They’re bigger inside than ever and can easily accommodate two full-face helmets. There’s a new document and toolkit pouch. The lock is integrated into the latch to keep your key away from your premium paint. And new premium hinges that work better and look sharper. You can operate the single latch with one hand. Storage. Check. We have it covered.Push Button Fuel door: One button, one touch, fuel door open. Any questions?New Standard Battery Charging Harness: No question a battery charging harness is a must have on a motorcycle. Now it’s standard. So you don’t have to waste even the ten minutes it takes to install one on some sunny Saturday when you could be riding.DimensionsLength: 102.4 in. (2,600 mm)Seat Height, Laden: 27.3 in. The 2011 Harley-Davidson Road King FLHR is powered with a Twin Cam 96 engine styled to perfection with the performance you need for Harley touring. The Road King FLHR has a classic Hiawatha headlamp that is a defining feature of this bike. Big and commanding, the Harley Road King headlamp hearkens back to the Big Twins of the 60s. You get nothing less than the latest in materials and technology. Clear-lens reflector optics provide a longer distance high beam and wider low beam to light up your Harley touring experience. It's a bright, striking daytime lamp that blasts a little further into the night. Harley has many other touring motorcycles to take a look at including ones with motorcycle luggage capacity and a unique frame mounted Harley fairing. Take time to discover more motorcycle touring bikes such as the Harley Street Glide.Authentic StylingClassic fuel tank: Part of the unmistakable style of the Harley-Davidson® Road King® motorcycle is plenty of room for showing off your paint. There's just no beating the classic lines of that sweeping headlight nacelle.GTX® saddlebags: These injection-molded hard bags have room for 2.26 cu. ft. volume of long-haul luxuries and a perfect surface for showing off some premium paint. Even better, these saddlebags open from the top, so your gear won't end up spilled all over the highway. They keep your fancy unmentionables dry, and the chrome latches won't corrode in bad weather. And when you're off the road, one common key starts the bike and gives you access to your saddlebags, keeping your pockets as uncluttered as your bike's classic design.Tank-mounted gauges: Tank-mounted fuel gauges boast traditional styling while offering you a clean, unobstructed view of the electric speedometer and odometer. A little chrome never hurts either. You'll only find these unique gauges on the Road King® and Road King® Classic models.Large 17-inch front wheel: If you crave long-haul agility on rides of all distances, then you're going to love this. Starting on the 2009 Touring models, we beefed things up a bit, adding a big, mighty wheel with a low aspect ratio. That means the bike maintains its legendary tight turning radius, balanced feel and superior low-speed maneuverability.Low mounted license plate: We keep the back end clean and classy with a low mounted license plate that features little visible hardware. As an extra touch, we throw some LED lighting around the tag for crisp visibility and style--just enough to give your tail end a glow when you're riding through the night. This completes the classic, uncluttered look of the Road King® model.Premium paint: Up to two times thicker than the competition, custom quality paint comes standard on all Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. Clearcoat layering up to five mils deep. Bigger metal flakes. Unique effects in the pearl colors. Skimping simply is not in our vocabulary.Hand finished fuel tank: All Harley-Davidson® fuel tanks are finished by hand--that's what makes them stand out from the competition. Their seamless design and unmatched style are unique among all motorcycles on the road. The tanks are one of the first and last things people notice when they lay their eyes on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle--so we make it worth their time.Iconic EngineTwin Cam 96™ engine heritage: The knowledge of what makes an engine truly move a rider runs deep at The Motor Company, and it was put to good use when we created the Twin Cam 96™ engine. We sweated bullets perfecting every cubic inch, pushing design and technology forward. And we did it all without compromising one bit of Harley-Davidson's unique styling. Evolved, yet carrying on the legacy of the Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution® and Twin Cam 88® engines that came before. The performance and durability are a direct result of the untold miles logged on the V-Twin since 1909, and the proud heritage that comes from a century's worth of commitment to life on two wheels.Twin Cam 96™ engine innovation: Fire up the Twin Cam 96™ engine and feel the low-end torque unleashed. And a low cruising rpm couldn't feel better.Pure Harley-Davidson® styling: Feast your eyes on the Twin Cam 96™ engine and there's no mistaking its roots. This is authentic Harley-Davidson® style through and through with an attention to detail you won't find from any other motorcycle company. Black powder-coated heads and cylinders are highlighted by polished rocker covers. It's a jewel machined out of metal. Pure. Dripping with power. From the classic edge of the cooling fins to the clean lines of cases and covers--the Twin Cam 96™ engine makes an ironclad statement to holding on to what's right and staying true to what satisfies the rider.Six-Speed Cruise Drive®: You want a ride that rumbles--not begs for mercy--when you lean on it a little. The Six-Speed Cruise Drive® transmission provides smooth, quiet shifting and reduces engine speed on the highway, so you get a better match between engine turnover and road speed. It's a rare ride when a bike responds like this, and a low growl goes a long way when you're opening up the road ahead.Four-point engine isolation system: After three decades of keeping the vibrations of the Big Twin from getting to the rider, Harley-Davidson® engineers decided to take something that is already great and make it even better, perfecting the delicate balance of shake, rattle and ride--comfortably. In 2009, we added a fourth isolation point to our three-point rubber engine isolation system. Just get that Big Twin idling and feel the difference.Classic Harley-Davidson® rumble: Iconic, fierce, the most distinct decibels you'll ever hear bouncing off city canyons or scenic country landscapes. The sound of a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle has a rich history of its own. It's a classic roar. It's the sound of freedom, soul and self-expression.TechnologyCruise control (optional): If you're ready to take touring to the next level, the optional cruise feature will help you settle in for the long haul. Get the comfort of the cruise without the cables cluttering up your handlebar. Our electronic throttle control technology makes it possible to have the best of both worlds.Anti-lock brakes (optional): When it comes to the Road King® model with optional ABS, "stopping power" has a double meaning. The components of our ABS are tastefully hidden within the wheel hub, so you'll still turn heads with clean, streamlined designed. More importantly, though you get certainty in the saddle knowing your bike's going to behave when you need it. Offered as a part of the "Security Package" (which includes the H-D® Smart Security System).High output accessory connector: Harley-Davidson® touring means maximum comfort in all conditions and the capacity to add whatever enhances and personalizes your ride. The high output charging system provides an electrical capacity robust enough for your add-ons: heated vests, heated seats, heated handgrips, lights to showcase the engine, you name it So if you're hell-bent on two-wheeling it, we make sure you've got the juice to do it your way.Artfully hidden technology: Harley-Davidson® leverages the latest in technology without compromising style and function. That means we hide electronics. The whole wiring harness is skillfully routed behind the jewels of the bike--the tank, engine and all the other eye-popping features you want to see. It's just another way The Motor Company goes the extra mile to give its bikes that premium, top-of-the-line fit and finish.Intuitive controls: Hand controls on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle are incredibly intuitive. The turn signals are self-canceling and, based on the speed and angle of the motorcycle, they know how long to stay on. Engaging the controls quickly becomes second nature so you can focus less on turning off your signal and more on basking in the freedom of the ride.H-D® Smart Security System (optional): The factory installed next-generation security system features a hands-free fob that automatically arms and disarms the vehicle electronic security functions as you approach and walk away from the bike. Stick the fob on your ignition key ring and let it do all the work. It's this attention to details and security that make Harley-Davidson® motorcycles unique.HandlingFrame and swingarm: Change everything. Lose nothing. Our complete redesign of the frame and swingarm has only been around since 2009, and it's already changing the game entirely. Stamped and welded parts and bent tubing were ditched for strong castings and forgings--just like the legendary Harley-Davidson frames of years past. The result is a frame that rides rigid and owns the corners. The acceleration is strong. The ride is tight and responsive. And the feel on the road is confidence inspiring.Legendary low speed maneuverability: At The Motor Company, we believe you don't make innovative, next-generation Touring motorcycles without shedding a little blood, sweat and tears. And when you get it right--like with the low speed maneuverability on our Touring models--all the other upgrades in the ride combine to create a big-boned bike that is light and nimble while carving up tight turns or if you find yourself riding in a parade or group ride.Fine-tuned front end geometry: H-D® might as well stand for "handling details." Here's another key engineering innovation we added because we refuse to settle. Starting in 2009, we took an already royal ride and fine-tuned the front end further, adding just enough trail to make it even more responsive. You might not fully appreciate the difference until you're tucked into a long twisty, sewn to the saddle and fully in tune with every curve of the road.Dunlop® Multi-Tread™ tires: The 180mm back tire reengineered in 2009 does more than fill out the rear fender and put a bigger patch of rubber on the road. Dunlop® Multi-Tread™ technology uses harder compounds at the center and softer on the sides for a tire that still knows how to knuckle-down on corners. Perfect for making this bike agile on every curvy stretch of road. And the way it feels going through an abrupt off-camber turn will put a grin on your face that'll last to the next state line.Brembo® brakes: Confidence. Control. High-performance dual disc Brembo® brakes offer consistent stopping power at all speeds. The 4-piston front and rear caliper with dual front rotor brake system is state of the art and top of the line. It's just another way The Motor Company puts a high level of detail into their bikes to give you peace of mind throughout your journey.Air-adjustable suspension: With air-adjustable suspension that comes standard, you can dial in your ride to accommodate heavier or lighter payloads, battle unexpected road conditions or simply set it to how you like to roll. The lighter the load, the softer you can go by decreasing the air pressure a bit, or increase the air pressure for a more firm ride. A convenient air valve is located between the saddlebag and rear fender for quick adjusting. It's all about rider and passenger comfort and setting your bike to fit your taste--the easy way.Tuned to be ridden: Harley-Davidson® motorcycles are different from any other bike out on the road. There's a balance to them. The steering, the maneuverability--it's all in concert. And each Harley-Davidson® model is tuned differently to create a unique riding experience for each individual no matter which bike they swing their leg over. Let's face it, we didn't get to where we are by being like everyone else.ComfortNew Two-Up Road King® seat: Another classic feature revamped in 2011 without sacrificing an ounce of nostalgic style: the newly sculpted seat with a deeper contoured bucket and narrower neck. This ultimate Touring saddle relieves pressure on your thighs, while providing more back support and comfort for a wide variety of rider sizes. And the lower seat height--26.5 inches to be exact--puts your feet closer to the road to enhance your confidence. Additionally, the leather trim and premium stitching accentuate the advanced ergonomics while giving the seat that sharp detail you only find on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. It's science in service of comfort, and your way to beat fatigue over the long haul.Full-length footboards: Your boots were made for riding, in any way you see fit. Our full-length footboards boast a tried and true design that's stood the test of time. Plenty of foot positions for your taste and comfort. Rubber vibration isolation for a comfortable ride. And heel-toe shifting for confident shifting every time. It takes a few rides, but once you've gotten used to the smooth heel-toe rhythm, you'll never give it up. The toes of your boots won't take the same beating, either.Wide set handlebar: Classic style and maximum comfort. Leave the screen on for a clean envelope of air over the long haul. Or detach it in seconds for a completely new look and ride. The Lexan® windshield is tough as they come--durable, scratch resistant, low maintenance. And whether you choose to cruise or keep the shield on, your Heritage Softail® Classic model rules with a nostalgic style and versatility you can make your own.2-1-2 exhaust: Welcome to the crossroads of pure Harley-Davidson® style and smart engineering. The "Tommy Gun" 2-1-1 exhaust helps direct heat away from the rider and passenger, while providing ample performance, signature Harley-Davidson® rumble, and big style.Engine idle temperature management strategy: Our motorcycles are built to be ridden. A lot. So that means that rider comfort is top of the mind. Always. With the Engine Idle Temperature Management Strategy (EITMS) feature, the motorcycle automatically cuts fuel and fire from rear cylinder when idling, which helps reduce engine heat felt by rider and passenger. This feature can easily be turned on by your dealer.Seat engineering and design: The seat is home for Harley-Davidson® motorcycle riders. They want a seat that has unique style without sacrificing comfort. Because of that, Harley-Davidson® invests a lot of time in researching, designing and testing seats so that every bike has just the right saddle.DimensionsLength: 95 in. The motorcycle continues to offer the purest representation of Harley’s iconic design language and comes with a unique set of custom-style features that give it a pretty distinctive character. In terms of power, the 2014 Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide is equipped with an air-cooled, Twin Cam 103 engine with a displacement of 103.1 cu in. The engine is mated on a Six-Speed Cruise Drive Transmission and delivers a maximum torque of 98.8 ft-lb at 3,500 rpm.The motorcycle comes with a factory-installed next-generation security system that is fitted as standad equipment. The company says that the system “uses a hands-free fob that automatically arms and disarms the vehicle electronic security functions as you approach and walk away from the bike.”Sissy Bar The black, wire form sissy bar is a nod to the chopper style with a slight pullback for a unique look. Black like the frame with a retro feel adds to the old school attitude. Give your passenger something to hold, or strap on a bedroll for a weekend run.Tank Flame Graphics (Optional) The Wide Glide® motorcycle’s Vivid Black finish is pure and mean, but if you want to make a hotter statement, you can relive the 1970’s with the nostalgic ’flame’ design on the fuel tank. This optional custom look applied by The Motor Company is guaranteed to get stares from envious cagers who spot you blazing down the streets.Beefy Triple Clamps & Forks This is what makes a Wide Glide® unique—beefy triple clamps and raked out forks for a long, wide style. The shear amount of steel up front gives this Harley-Davidson® motorcycle a defining look, one you can see coming for miles. Just as fat and aggressive-looking as the first Wide Glide® model built by Chief Styling Officer Willie G. Davidson back in 1980.Blacked Out Rims & Large Front Wheel Raw, gritty and no-nonsense—the Wide Glide® model features black laced steel wheels with a large 21" wheel up front for a quintessential long custom look. Out back, the 17" rim is wrapped in a 180mm tire for a perfectly proportioned rear end.Clean Rear Fender Styling The lines are clean as the distant horizon and the fender is cut short with a side-mounted license plate bracket for an old school look. Fastened to the fender are retro-style, bullet stop-turn-tail lights that combine to work twice as hard for you—stop beams and running lights plus turn indicators in two low-profile rear lamps.Drag-Style Handlebar The Wide Glide® motorcycle features an internally wired 1 1/4-inch bar with tall risers. This beefy custom handlebar is truly reminiscent of a classic, old school raked-out chopper. And with the wires buried in the steel, you get a clean, minimal look with nothing standing in your way.Pure Harley-Davidson Styling Feast your eyes on the Twin Cam 103™ engine and there’s no mistaking its roots. This is authentic Harley-Davidson style through and through with an attention to detail you won’t find from any other motorcycle company. Black powder-coated heads and cylinders are highlighted by machined cooling fin tips and chrome rocker covers. It’s a jewel machined out of metal. Pure. Dripping with power. From the classic edge of the cooling fins to the clean lines of cases and covers—the Twin Cam 103™ engine makes an ironclad statement about holding on to what’s right and staying true to what satisfies.Six-Speed Cruise Drive® Transmission You want a ride that rumbles—not begs for mercy—when you lean on it a little. And it comes at lower cruising rpm, so you ride more smoothly, with less engine vibration and better highway fuel economy.TechnologyH-D® Smart Security System (Optional) The factory-installed next-generation security system features a hands-free fob that automatically arms and disarms the vehicle electronic security functions as you approach and walk away from the bike. Stick the fob on your ignition key ring and let it do all the work. It’s this attention to details and security that make Harley-Davidson® motorcycles unique.Standard Anti-Lock Brakes You may be cruising with swagger, but you know safety counts. This sophisticated ABS gives ’stopping power’ a double meaning. Its components are tastefully hidden within the wheel hub, so you’ll still turn heads with clean, streamlined design. But more importantly, you get certainty in the saddle knowing your bike’s going to behave when you need it.Adjustable Suspension Easily adjust preload with a spanner wrench to suit your suspension to your riding style. The slammed low rear suspension gives you a more laid-back riding position and style. Low-profile, kicked back for profiling down the boulevard and hugging corners.Michelin® Scorcher™ Tires Michelin® Scorcher™ Tires provide the superior performance, sensational grip, impressive durability and excellent handling expected on a race-bred bike. The exclusive deep-cut tread design improves grip and water evacuation capability. Grip performance and durability is also enhanced by the tire’s rubber compounds, which use the latest generation of Michelin synthetic polymers. Forward-Mounted Controls With the custom forward-mounted controls on the Wide Glide® model, you can kick back a little and stretch your legs for the ultimate cruise through town or across the state line. You can go with the standard steel-laced wheels on blackwalls with a chrome hub. Or turn the clock all the way back with the optional chrome laces and wide whitewalls.HIDDEN REAR SHOCKS If you want a comfortable bike but love that rigid-suspension look, you've come to the right bike.
