Thank You for looking at our listing here. PLEASE read this ENTIRE listing Description Before placing a serious offer or clicking the BIN. Here is a Pretty Nice 1989 Yamaha YZ250 Moto-cross bike. This bike starts right up and runs great! The chain has never been tossed into the case. Motor has good compression. Clutch works good with no chatter. Transmission shifts smooth throughout all gears. This has FMF exhaust with a spark arrested Silencer. There are a couple lower dents in the pipe. The 0-ring Chain and Sprockets are in good shape. Good brakes, both front and rear. Rear tire is in very good shape with little time. Front tire shows some wear. The rear wheel is in good shape with NO cracks or dents. The front wheel is almost new. The Plastic is all in good solid shape, but not perfect. There is a tiny crack in the left side radiator shroud, a crack in the front fender where it mounts on and a crack in the underside of the rear fender. It is all solid and works good. The seat cover is dirty in spots and has a couple small tears in the far back. The front fork seals do show some leaking. Rear shock is fine. No loose wheel bearings. Radiators are both in good shape. This comes with a clear Michigan title. Non Paying Members will receive a Strike. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is due within 4 days to our Paypal account. Thiss 1978 Yamaha YZ250 is a true low hour unrestored all original barn find that I purchased it from the original owner 3 years ago. The original owner told me that the bike was lightly and sparingly trail ridden in fields and pastures for a while when new and never had any work done to it except that way back when he had the seat cover professionally replaced due to it getting a tear in it when it was in his garage, its a perfect job. The original tires actually are a perfect indicator of the hours this bike actually has on it! The bike sat idle for the better part of  30+ years and when I bought it, I cleaned the carb, new plug, new air filter and oil in the gear box and it fired up on the 3rd kick. It has basically been stored in my garage since for the last 3 years, and has always been stored inside since new. It usually starts in 1-3 kicks, and it runs very VERY strong and perfectly, and even idles well. (I race a modern 450 and vintage 1981 Maico 490s) The trans and clutch are perfect. Still on its original IRC tires. The rear shock feels like new, firm with excellent damping. The forks hold air and function as they should (feel like crap compared to modern forks!). All original plastic (still decent), and fork boots (no tears), and even straight unbent original handle bars. The pipe has some minor dents in the lower front head area. The original chain and sprockets are still nice. Even still has its original kick stand (remember when MX bikes came with them!) The original frame paint is still in nice shape with just some minor ankle rub wear on one side and on the underside of the engine cradle. If I was restoring it I would not repaint the frame and just do proper touch ups where needed. This would be an amazing start to do a museum 100 point restoration, or just go over it and prep it to race some vintage Ahrma motocross events. This is the true Bob Hannah era YZ 250, the year he dominated motocross and supercross in the 250 class. PICK UP ONLY. I have a full 1 1/4 mile modern motocross track at my house and any serious buyer is more than welcome to come and ride it and go over the bike in person, actually I would prefer that! Again this is a 36 year old MX bike, so there is age related wear from just storage as well as minor use. There are NO warrantees on the bike as they did not even come with one when new!!! Unfortunately, I only was able to race/ride it about 5 times and simply do not have the time anymore. This bike is race ready and is super fast. This bike is the last year that Yamaha made the famous triangular swing arm. Bike is in great shape and has the white/red Euro plastics. The motor was freshly re-built in 2012, rebuilt suspension by Thor suspensions, re-arced brakes, new cables, levers, etc, rebuilt seat with anti-slip cover, new Mikuni carb, All new Euro plastic, pro-form pipe and muffler. *Pickup only no shipping will be provided, it is your responsibility to arrange shipping for the motorcycle if needed. a company named 'Uship' is pretty reasonable they ship motorcycles just about anywhere in the states, contact them for more info if needed. 1980 Yamaha IT 250. The engine has OUTSTANDING compression, shifts great, clutch works smooth as butter and has NO issues. The chain and sprockets have extremely low wear, Mono shock has good dampening, brakes work well. The only real issue with this great classic machine is..... the plastic!! It will need new side panels, front fender, rear fender and the gas tank will need to be stripped of the unsightly white paint! It is pretty ugly BUT look past that... It is in excellent mechanical condition!! The head light does not work I assume it needs a bulb but, I do not know for sure.
