It is a very nice and all serviced up bike. I have notes of the service work that have been performed when the bike was last torn down for service. All bearings in the motor and tranny have been replaced. "The BMW R 60 VIN 621434 was manufactured on July 01st, 1960 and delivered on July 20th, 1960 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat." Bike was sold originally in 1961 hence it was titled as 1961 and that was a common practice back in the days. Matching frame, engine, tag and title numbers. It is a very honest bike, one of the nicest riding and looking pre-1970 BMW bikes I have ever ridden. It is an older restoration. This bike has always been stored in temp. controlled garage and it shows. It is a very clean machine, not perfect but a great every day runner. The motor was restored including slingers work, bearings serviced, engine has compression (105 psi each cylinder), clutch and brakes work well, gearbox goes through all 4 gears as it should. Lights, horn, also all work as intended. Fairly recent tires and tubes, new wiring harness, reworked heads, new valve covers , new Worx shocks installed, Denfeld solo seat, Hoske style racing exhaust, Low "Magura" Euro handle bars and original tire pump. Top end resealed with brand new set of gaskets and seals, valves adjusted. Ever since we took the pictures we have installed color matching license plate bracket. Runs and rides excellent! "The Earles Forks and opposing cylinder engine always get a lot of attention." Please look closely at the photos and video as they are an important part of the description. 1968 BMW R-Series BMW 1968 R60US

For your consideration is this 1968 R60US BMW motorcycle. There were about 1,879 US forked R60's built between 1967-1969. While these machine don't necessarily have the charm of the Earles forked bikes almost everyone who's ridden both will agree that these telescopic forked bikes ride and handle much better. With the limited number of these built in the 3 years of production along side the Earles bikes , it makes them somewhat rare today. This example has very straight front and rear fenders and a decent gas tank. The rings were stuck in the bores when purchased but freed up when the cylinders were pulled off. The headlite shell will need replaced as it's toast as it the alloy handlebar risers and fork caps. The speedo reads 23,000 smiles and when restored (or just rebuilt) it'll be ready for many more. This machine came with steel chrome wheels that will need replaced or blasted and painted. Also something unusual for this bike is it has sidecar lugs welded on it whereas most (all?) other US bikes did NOT. This is a complete bike that needs restored by a loving owner. I would like nothing else than to keep this machine and return it to it's former glory but it's down the list a ways of my projects and finances unless i win the lottery before the auction ends...lol The cylinders, heads , carbs etc... that were on this machine will go with the new owner. The non-stock seat will sell with it also unless the buyer would rather have an original narrow or wide dual seat instead. It will be titled in my name with a current Ohio title when sold. Restoring these old bikes is easier now than it was 25-30 years ago thanks to BMW Mobile Traditions reproducing most of whats needed and Vech (and co.) at Bench Mark Works will be happy to answer any and all questions and sell you whats needed to put this desired antique back on the road reliably. I've been riding these classics since 1979 and still have that very bike i bought back then and it's never let me down. How many british bike owners can say the same??? The BMW R 60/2 VIN 1816703 was manufactured in 1968 and delivered on October 10th 1968 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat. -Andreas Harz, BMW Group Archiv Up for your consideration is an all original 1969 BMW R60/2. This bike has an honest 10k original miles!!! This is an absolute time machine that are almost impossible to find in this condition, they are either in parts or completely restored. A bike in this condition should keep appreciating and would make an excellent investment!! Of course the bike is numbers matching on the engine, frame and headstock. I have a clear title ready to transfer to you. This bike has the original wiring straps and the pinstriper's signature is under the tank. I believe that the front tire is original too. The only changes over the last 40 years seem to be; the rear tire, newer battery, newer and correct grips and a new gasket for the toolbox bolt. I am in awe of the originally of this bike!! The original owner specified the large touring tank and the bike is equipped with a chrome engine guard and taller bar and risers. This vintage bike starts on the first kicked after tickling the carbs and giving it a touch of throttle. There is no indication of any mileage over what the speedo reads; this bike has never been apart! I checked the rear splines and they are perfect, as pictured. The rear splines were greased, along with the original axle and the rear wheel replaced. I can deliver within the US for $1.50/mile loaded from my location. This is a nice 1971 BMW R60/5. It runs, shifts, rides, and brakes well. No weird noises or smoke. All the lights, switches, and controls work. The tank and fenders are in good condition with no dents in the tank and no cracks in the fenders. The petcocks work properly and don't leak, the exhaust is solid with some staining here and there but looks great overall. It has a new Westco battery and a new Conti Go rear tire. The front tire is a Metzeler Marathon in good condition. The handlebars aren't original but are comfortable when riding. There is no toolkit, tray, or tire pump with the bike. The odometer shows 3176 miles so I assume that the speedo was rebuilt or replaced. The speedo and tach work perfectly. It also comes with a key for the fork and seat locks.
