This offering has been over a year in the works and we are truly excited to finally offer it up. It is unlikely that we or any other US dealer will ever have one of these for sale again. We're sort of surprised that after all the work and time that Bob didn't keep it for himself since he loves this particular model. Please note that this bike has a km/hr speedo on it which shows the kilometers ridden; we've done the conversion to miles in the listing. So now we'll share a great deal more on what could be your next BMW unfolds. Bob hunted this very rare beast down and began the process of negotiations, initial evaluations from afar and then another with a fellow dealers help at one point (just like we do for customers seeking private transactions) along with the complicated paperwork process to get it across the Canadian border legally so that we could deliver it with a clear, legitimate US based (Maryland) title to some very smart and very lucky individual.

This Bob's PROJECT BIKE has great potential. It may not be beautiful but it has what we believe to be low original mileage and looks pretty decent. It appears to be suffering more from lack of use than anything else but it arrive running strong and we took it in from the 2nd or possibly 3rd ownerR100's are hard to find in any shape or form. We've sold several PROJECT BIKE R100's in past few years in this price range but all were mechanically and cosmetically rougher. This one has even had some good value service perform locally and at Bob's during the past few years but also has a few current needs that prevents it from passing the Maryland Safety Inspection or MSI right now.

1976 BMW R75/6-R100RS, This is a special project but perhaps not for any reason our readers and those who might be interested probably have in mind. It’s a little more special (not specifically more valuable however) because Bob has known the person this interesting machine came to us from for almost as long as he’s been riding BMW motorcycles. As a result he watched this bike transform from the mostly original R75/6 it began its life as into the once beautiful R100RS hybrid it is now.Right up front we’ll disclose that to the best of the sellers knowledge this bike has about 80,000 total miles. He signed a document attesting to this and has no reason to not tell the truth. We believe that but you can judge for yourself if you don’t agree. It’s a bunch of miles for sure. The odometer shows 9,337 miles and that’s all that he believed was placed on the bike with that speedo which was swapped out at some point years ago. We’ve not ridden it far enough to know if the speedo actually logs miles and with the tires it has we aren’t going to test it out..We firmly believe that it still belongs on the road as it arrived running. But as a PROJECT BIKE it certainly requires a bunch of TLC, some mid-level expertise, a bunch of maintenance parts, tires, carb rebuild kits and a host of other stuff before you address the less than stunning cosmetics. But it is all there and there is a great deal that is hard to see in these teaser cell phone images but here they are just so we could get it up fast. If it does not sell pretty quickly Bob promised to take some better photos and provide a greater more diverse mix of views. For the short term, the astute lurker and efficient hunter-gatherer will call before that happens and steal it.

We are offering this PROJECT BIKE up short, sweet and with cell phone images that are not quite as beautiful or sharp (pretty close however) as our usual camera images. We wanted to get it out to market fast and Bob did the review or intake EVALUATION personally, took it in and made that decision. This will not be a lengthy story nor will there be more photos. We think these images tell more than enough of an accurate and if nothing else pre-visit story to get the attention of those who desire an old airhead project to do the job.

1984 BMW R100RS LAST EDITION, Alas, some machines teeter right on that fine gray line between a machine we’d love to have displayed in the showroom and one that gets relegated to the neat, tidy and well lit warehouse where most of the PROJECT BIKES reside until they find new homes. This is one of those machines because at 10 feet everyone thinks it looks great and it does plus it runs flawlessly. But it has a few needs so read on as it may be right up your alley.

1992 BMW R100GS, Bob can’t even recall the last time we had a R100GS to offer up for sale, let alone one that has so much extra value tucked in under the bumble bee paint job. As he gave it some longer thought it may have been this exact bike 5 plus years ago but it’s much nicer now. There are simply far too few that anyone is willing to sell or trade in these days. These bikes have quickly followed the original R80GS is popularity, dependability, light weight, durability and over time a steady increase in values. And then there is the sheer FUN factor involved in owning and riding an early GS.Yes, this one is missing the tank decals it originally came from BMW with but most people looking at it think this small change seriously improved the looks of this otherwise timeless machine. This owner was not the only soul who removed them – they simply were not everyone’s visual cup of tea. And that issue was not much different than the original two tone dual seat which in this case has been upgraded; yellow (the rider portion) seats tend to get very dirty pretty fast. And we will share right at the start of this story that there is a medium sized (smaller than a beer coaster) dent on the top right side which you’ll see in one of the images. We selected to not address this since the tank still holds a good 6 gallons of fuel and because it’s black does not show too badly; we didn’t think fixing it would make the bike a lot more valuable but could certainly do this for you once it’s yours. Otherwise the bike is in very nice, mostly original cosmetic condition from end to end and top to bottom. And Bob’s has been caring for this bike since 2009 when it came to us in trade from who we believe was the original owner. The next person (you?) to have fun with and care for this gem should be the third owner.

1967 BMW R100/2 Conversion, It''s impossible to share all the special features and effort that goes into building what has been called a /2 conversion since Bob first stated riding BMW''s in the 1970''s. What will be shared here is a brief history of the general class and some overall details on this specific example because it''s the one we have available to sell. If you''ve ever thought of owning one of these very special outfits, lusted after Bob''s rig (no it'' still not for sale) because you''ve seen him riding it or just because they are so unique and so very cool (each one is different) and this may be one of the nicest ever constructed. Plus it was all done by the experienced and talented team at Bob''s for the prior owner so we know pretty much everything about it. If we could be describing you, we strongly suggest that you stop reading now and call us before too many others learn that we have it available and get interested themselves. First a little history, back in 1970 when the /5 series and engines in 500, 600 and 750 cc displacements became available with 12 volt electrics, more horse power than the prior 500 and 600 cc kick started engine and the joys of pushing a starter button to start the beast people starting yanking their anemic 6 volt, 26 to 28 horsepower engines out and installing larger motors. They also gained the improvement in gear box technology as well as now having 12 volts to operate better lighting, audible horns and yes even some accessories that drew current. This was mostly done for all those people who attached a sidecar to their machine so they could take the family along, haul groceries, hardware, incredible finds from a flea market, camping gear to extend travels or even to give their best buddy who just happened to be furry and have 4 legs a nice ride in the countryside on a beautiful afternoon. Some others just enjoyed the modification process (so many of us a true gear heads) or had the need for more power and speed. Regardless of the reasons, anemic 1955-69 engines and gear boxes came out of bikes and a variety of larger ones went in. It started out with some 600''s thanks to crashed bikes but the 750 cc was the engine to have since it had, at the time, the most power. Then came the /6 series in 1974 and the R90/6 and even the R90S. In 1977 the R100 motors were cranking out some 60 plus horse power, more than double what was available in 1969 so when a bike really got wadded up there were never, more creative uses for some of those wrecks. Not many people needed to replace their existing R100 engine with another thanks to BMW''s solid design and reliability. This was a BIG improvement and at first all it involved was a change in driveline and some basic modifications to the frame and driveshaft to make it all come together.

1999 BMW R1100RT-P, It’s been quite a number of years since we saw a pre-owned Authority R1100RT-P that had the potential this one did when it first arrived at Bob’s. We’ve actually been servicing the machine for several years and with only 75,000 original miles it is a young bike by comparison to most that either came off duty in the early 2000’s and typically have 100,000 to 125,000 miles on them and have been through many owners since last performing official duties. This one had a very solid history so we got almost the entire story on how well it’s been cared for and serviced.

2004 BMW R1150R ROCKSTER, This one has seen far too few miles in the short eleven years since it was built by BMW and delivered to the first owner; we believe it has had just one other since but can’t confirm that with 100% accuracy. So we will encourage the next owner to get out and have more fun – the level of fun these machines were designed to deliver upon taking delivery. This is a mostly stock offering but it has seen a few nice additions and changes and was well equipped when new. This example was delivered with ABS, Tele-Lever and Para-Lever suspension, the optional center stand, optional passenger seat, factory heated grips, blue frame and fork components as well as matching valve covers and the tall stock seat. It now also boasts the addition of a very nice Wunderlich sport screen to keep the bugs away.

2002 BMW R1150RT-P, These ex-Authority bikes remain popular for many reasons: they look cool, they’re in colors civilian bikes are not offered, they come with extra equipment that is very expensive purchased separately and are set up for solo riding or touring. This one was originally sold to and used by the CHP in California according to BMW’s documentation. The person we acquired it from is believed to be the second owner but there is no way to confirm this with 100% accuracy. This is a PROJECT BIKE. We suggest that anyone interested in this machine read the full details, closely review the images provided, read the special bill of sale shared in the PROJECT BIKE section of the website and make time for a in person inspection. Like any PROJECT you might take on there can always be risks or unexpected issues which could arise later on.We do our best to honestly share all details and history we know about or have discovered during our intake inspection but that may not be everything associated with any given PROJECT BIKE. We also firmly believe that at the prices we offer these PROJECT BIKES all represent exceptional values based on the good parts that convey with each machine and all of them could be parted out at significant profit or just used as a spares bike for an identical model you may already own.It arrived running and started, shifted through all gears, stopped and rode fine on the slightly less than 1 mile loop we took it out on. There was some engine noise which could be from the timing chain, chain rails or even the valves; we’ve not explored this at all and it may run fine for thousands of miles without doing anything. The battery was not in perfect shape to start with but was on a trickle charger and we started it up just fine a week or so before doing this write up in late February.

2010 BMW R1200HP2 Sport, Collectible & Rare Blue-Black-White Hyper Sports MachineRare is perhaps an understatement, just 25 of these machines were imported into the United States in 2010 and only 23 were offered to the public. The other two went to BMW sponsored racers and one was totaled fairly early making this one of only two dozen US bikes. This special BMW was also brought in during 2009 and 2008 but that did not make it abundantly available. 2008 saw just 10 units imported and only 75 were brought in during the peak year of 2009. With an original MSRP of $26,995 it was never intended to be in everyone’s garage; just a lucky few.But to make them still harder to attain several more examples this limited machine were retained by BMW Motorrad USA for various projects, racing and a few “special purposes” that we never fully disclosed to even the dealers. Maybe a bonus for an exiting VP? But whatever the reasons only 115 were imported to the US and not all those were even available for sale to the public, so our educated guess is that under 100 were ever delivered to retail customers! That sounds like a future collectible to us. And this knowledge sort of makes you want to put it in a glass display case filled with a special preservative gas.But that would be a shame because this BMW was made to be ridden! Until recently this example, almost the very last one off the assembly line (#22 of the 25) in Munich was owned by a special client who had plenty of 2 and 4 wheeled toys and somehow managed to enjoy them all with a regular schedule but none saw a lot of miles. As a result this could be the lowest mile example to be had anywhere in the world unless there really is one on display in a glass case out there.

1998 BMW R1200C, It always bothers us when an otherwise decent low mileage bike shows up not running and in this kind of neglected condition All because the past owner simply never rode the darn machine. We think there was only one but it’s possible two prior owners had this one in their respective garages. Back when it was still under warranty BMW covered replacement of some assorted parts due to the finish failing. And we’d guess based on what we now reviewed that it mostly suffered from not being regularly ridden, cared for, serviced or washed and polished now and then. But whatever the reasons behind its history all that adds up to a great opportunity for someone to grab a solid Bob’s PROJECT BIKE!This one was originally delivered outside this immediate area and ran out of BMW warranty back in February of 2001. From what we can determine the mileage is correct and original but this is impossible to know with 100% certainty. However the seller did sign off on a Federal Odometer statement so we’re pretty sure it is as shown. It is a standard BMW Cruiser with factory ABS or anti-lock brake system for any non-BMW owners looking at this. It has the factory high USA style handlebars, BMW cylinder guards which incorporate a set of relaxing highway foot rests and a leather riders seat with the very unique passenger pad which also flips up to become an adjustable 3 angle riders backrest – an expensive little factory option all by itself plus that aftermarket passenger backrest is now NLA and pretty hot stuff. The wire wheels were also standard but certainly not cheap stuff when new, just like the chromed valve covers and double wall headers.

2004 BMW R1100S, Now here???s an opportunity to own one of the bikes that is an all-around staff favorite at Bob???s. Several people in addition to Bob (who owns two he rides) have these sweet machines. They do it all from super sporty to sport touring with every day commuting and fun in the middle. They have great ergonomics, accept full sized saddlebags, are light weight and still look great a full decade down the road. This light project is mostly in need of addressing some cosmetic issues which are not that substantial and doing a full service and depending on where you live replacing the brake discs ??? more on that later so keep reading if you???d like a fun and basically good looking solid machine. Like all PROJECT BIKES specific conditions of sale apply so be sure to review those documents.Let???s start with all things mechanical. We sent this bike through our tough PPI process as well as the Maryland State Inspection. It failed on only two issues ??? brake rotors being just under factory spec and with 66,000 plus miles that is not a surprise as they are wear items and will eventually use material up. In Virginia these would be fine as long as you keep good pads in play and the bike stops superbly. BMW sets a very high standard as does the state of Maryland in this regard. The numbers say replace them and if you do the work it costs less than if we did it but all around it is only a $950 job if we did it for you with pads and fresh hardware.Due to old gas and a small throttle mechanism issue we did not test ride the bike initially. Since taken in we???ve repaired that under $100 issue and the bike went out for a good, quick 2 mile test ride. According to the Master Tech the bike ???runs well, ABS works and (the) clutch (is) good???. As we don???t have records on this bike as it was originally purchased out of this area we believe it should have a full inspection II and biannual service to freshen up all fluids, etc. The center stand shows a very little bend from the same tip over incident that caused the main fairing bracket to be very slightly bent but even Bob could probably live with this; it is not a functional issue in any respect and does not need to be addressed to safely and enjoyably ride this bike.

2007 BMW K1200R SPORT, One of these days we are sure Bob is going to tell the Sales Manager ???sorry Dennis, but I???m keeping that K12R Sport for myself??? and one less machine will be offered u to our good customers. Most of the staff here is surprised that Bob does not already have a K12R Sport in his collection because he loves the sportier bikes. In fact he owns almost no true BMW touring machines with the exception of a spotless 1993 R100RT that is currently in the center of the museum along with a first year, 1977 R100RS.But he has not stolen this one so we???d suggest that if you are considering a K12R Sport as your next Beemer you call or visit us soon just in case he is quietly thinking about this machine. With such low mileage and just two owners since new it???s hard to imagine that a more perfect example exists anywhere. But the beauty on this one goes well beyond what one would hope for due to countless extras and flawless cosmetics and perfect mechanicals. That???s why we???re surprised Bob did not claim it.Delivered to the first owner at the end of November 2007 it has shown itself to be a perfect machine from a warranty or paid repair history review. Only the standard bulletins for a ring aerial (ignition), rear spring lever and a brake line were all covered by BMW and the only thing that actually ever failed was a battery and BMW covered that as well in 2008. The history we were shown indicated good care since new even though it was not initially purchased from Bob???s but we did take over the services and care in 2009.Our talented and dependable master technicians just performed a full service so a new owner gets everything on a shiny plate. Following the Maryland Safety Inspection or MSI we did a full Biannual service with coolant and brake bleed, we updated the cam chain tensioner, added a Powerlet accessory outlet, installed new front and rear Michelin Pilot tires filled with Nitrogen, replaced the rear brake pads with the most current style offered by BMW and then replaced the old fuel pump and related components under the most recent BMW service bulletins guidelines. As you would imagine it passed the MSI easily and then went on to pass the more stringent exam we created so it fully qualifies under the ADVANTAGE CERTIFID Program Exclusive to Bob???s BMW.
