SOLD...... 1981 R100 Silver. Reynolds stand, S/S lines. 10K Serv, New tires 1981 R100 (RS) Silver. Chrome Reynolds Ride-off stand, Stainless Braided brake lines. Fresh 10K Service, New Metzeller tires, 20,556 indicated. This 1981 R100 (RS) is clean and sharp looking. It started life as a R100RS, bur was soon converted to a standard R100, by removing the fairing and changing the handlebars. We started of with a Major 10K Service, and went on from there. We discovered that the valve adjusters were all the way out, so we suspected the common 1981 valve recession. We were correct, and since we had some nice low mileage 1982 on heads on the shelf, we just changed the heads for the newer and better ones. Based on normal wear indicators, we estimate the actual mileage is arounr 40,000 to 45,000 miles. We rebuilt the front master cylinder, and installed a pair of Braided Stainless front brake lines for more positive braking. We inspected the front and rear brake pads, and found them nearly new. We mounted and balanced a new pair of Metzeller tires and tubes. We serviced the steering neck bearing, inspected the fork tubes and dampers. Then we installed new 11 rib fork boots to give the front end a more finished look, and keep road dirt out of the fork seals. We also installed a new battery. We found that somebody had relined the fuel tank, and did a very poor job. We stripped out the bad liner and the remains of the original liner, then properly sealed it with POR15, the best fuel tank liner we have found in decades of rehabilitating older BMWS. Unfortunately this process requires dilute acid, and we ended up with some slight discoloration in the paint clear coat in the center of the left side of the fuel tank. New original Continental braided cloth covered fuel line was installed, with in-line fuel filters. The bike has a chrome Reynolds Ride-off centerstand (we can exchange it for stock if you prefer). The seat rear cowling features the optional BMW combo grab rail and luggage rack. An improved 1984 seat, with much better foam than earlier years, has been installed, and has been converted to lift-off, instead of hinges, to make it easier to work with. We installed a new tool tray gasket. All the aluminum is clean and bright, the chrome is bright and solid. The exhaust is all in excellent condition except the right muffler has a rust spot on the bottom. The paint is bright and solid overall, with the only exception being the aforementioned slight discoloration on the left side of the tank. The key fits the ignition and the fork lock. The fuel cap (unlocked) and the seat lock are missing a key. The engine and frame numbers do not match. There is no tool kit, tire pump, or owner?s manual. The bike starts easily, warms up quickly, and settles down to a steady idle. The acceleration is very strong, and the engine smoothes out nicely for highway cruising. The transmission shifts easily and smoothly. The clutch engages smoothly. As it is, this bike is ready for either the twisty 2 lane back roads, the mountain sweepers, or cruising down the freeway. It seats 2 comfortably for weekend rides, and would make a great daily rider for commuting into the city for work. There is a crack in the windshield but it has been stopped with a hole drilled at the end. A new Metzeller tire was installed and balanced on the front wheel. 6293970 1993 BMW R100RT, Classic Black. New battery. New Starter, Fresh 5K Service. Very Low Miles! 6293970 1993 BMW R100RT, Classic Black. New battery. New Starter, Fresh 5K Service. Very Low Miles! This hard to find 1993 BMW R100RT is painted ?Classic Black?, which is a Metallic Black. It has Monoshock rear suspension, and Dual front brake discs. We just installed a NEW Valejo Starter, new sealed battery, and we performed a Factory Reommended 5K Service (we had also previously performed a 10K Service on this bike). The pushrod tube seals showed some light seepage, so we R&R the motor top end and resealed it, plus replaced the oil pan gasket. The fork seals were also showing seepage, so we changed them too. The bike is clean and well cared for, and has a very low mileage of only 22,500 Miles. All electrical systems are in very good condition. The tires are Metzeller (ME33 front, ME 99 rear) and are in very good condition. The windshield is a 21? tinted Parabellum Air-balance system. The dash features BMW 4-Way Flashers, and BMW Heated Grips. The bike is equipped with an aftermarket ?Flip-A-Lever? Throttle friction device (cruse control). The seat is the optional BMW ?Comfort Seat?. The bike has BMW Saddlebags on BMW Chrome mounts, a BMW Small Trunk with passenger back rest pad on BMW Rack with optional HD support brackets, and a 3 piece Cordura BMW Saddlebag and Trunk Liner set. Also, it has the original BMW tool kit, Spare Keys, BMW Owner?s Manual, and Clymer Shop Manual. The paint is bright and shinny and in good condition. Over the decades, BMW constantly evolved the design of the Air cooled ?R?, continuously making upgrades and improvements. This bike represents ALL of the upgrades and improvements BMW ever made to the air cooled twin;? the best handling, stopping, and riding of all the R Bikes. PRICE REDUCED to $4400......1977 R100/7, Black. VGC, new battery, ready to ride. We have a 6 year history with this bike. We bought it and fixed it up and gave it a 10K service in late 2006 with 67,219 miles on it. At that time we resealed the fuel tank, de-carboned the heads and lapped the valves, cleaned the carbs, disassembled and inspected the forks, and installed a ground upgrade kit on it. Over the years the new owner installed a master cylinder kit and installed new front brake pads in the winter of 2007-08, a new sealed battery in April 2008, and he installed new fork seals and resealed the motor top end in April of 2009. Sometime during his ownership he also painted the tank, battery covers, and front fender. The rear fender was not painted, but is in very good condition where it shows (it has some scratches you only see with the seat open) and a good match to the rest of the paintwork. At the time of the trade in, the previous owner reported oil consumption on his last trip of only 1 pint in 2,000 miles. This is at the minimum of normal oil usage for an air cooled BMW! In September of 2011 we got the bike back on a trade in and now we have given it another 10K Service, and disassembled and cleaned and inspected the front forks and replaced the internal bumpers. We installed a new battery, a new crankcase breather valve, new steering neck bearings, and had the final drive splines welded up and re-cut and re-hardened, then the drive was reassembled with new seals. We also cleaned and serviced the instrument cluster. The bike now has just under 93,000 miles; it starts easily and runs smooth and strong. It has many years of good service left in it, ready to go! The black paint is solid and shinny, without any nicks or dings. The MAC mufflers are in good physical condition, but the chrome shows the years and they have some staining on the top of the right one. The controls all work well, and electrics all function as designed. The seat is missing the original lower edge trim, but looks good with stainless fasteners along the edge. There is a tool tray, but no tool kit. The transmission shifts properly, and has no unusual noises. The bike does not leak. The Bridgestone tires are in very good condition. There is 1 key for the ignition and the seat lock, and a second one that only works the seat lock. There is no key for either the fuel cap lock, or steering lock. All in all, this bike is in much better cosmetic and mechanical condition than would normally be expected of a bike of this age and mileage. It has obviously been well cared for.
