FOR SALE: 1992 BMW R100R. This is pretty much the end of the line for the Air Head BMW Boxer Motor. This is the most refined of the Air heads and becoming quite collectible as not many are around in low mileage good condition. This bike has been well cared for and was recently (Summer/fall 2014) completely gone thru including: Oil and Filter ChangeBrake Fluid FlushTrans and Shaft FluidsOEM NOS Rear ShockFuel Tank relined by GTL in California (Warrantied)Fuel Petcocks rebuiltFuel lines replacedAir pump system rebuild with NOS pumpNew Air filterCarbs Disassembled and cleaned in Ultrasound Tank ( all needed gaskets replaced)New Basttery The only thing this bike could use is a new set of tires. These are just starting to check but have decent tread. I dont have much to say about this bike other than it is a very clean, reliable nice survivor. I have seen this bikes sell as high as $14,000 and priced this bike accordingly knowing that it will need tires and has a few small defects on the paint. The largest of the defects is a very light scraping on the RH side of the fuel tank and most of it will be able to be removed by wet sanding. Transmission Circlip-Transmission was serviced with the drive shaft by last owner, unbelievably- circlip was not added during service. Trans show no signs of unusual wear, shifting or issues.

It is equipped with model S 40mm Bing Carburetors and large valve dual plug heads all of which have just been rebuilt. The piston rings are new and in break in. The performance is sparkling. The new Continental tires have under 50 miles on them. The Corbin seat is brand new. The stunning yellow paint is brand new on all metal and plastic. The gas tank petcocks have been rebuilt with fresh filter screens. The bike is equipped with an unimpeded Luftmeister exhaust system. The gel battery is brand new. The drive shaft has new boots and has just been lubed. The wheels are freshly polished and rebuilt by Woodys in Denver with new front wheel bearings and stainless steel spokes. We have just put brand new TKC80 tires on it and it has an upgraded Fox shock and front suspension. The engine passed both leak down (2%) and compression tests (150/160psi) with flying colors and it runs nice and strong. The speedometer/odometer has been repaired and reflects the correct mileage on the bike now.These bikes are getting harder and harder to find and there competence and simplicity still make them a good choice as an everyday rider. This bike should keep you smiling for years to come.

1992 BMW R100GS, Bob can’t even recall the last time we had a R100GS to offer up for sale, let alone one that has so much extra value tucked in under the bumble bee paint job. As he gave it some longer thought it may have been this exact bike 5 plus years ago but it’s much nicer now. There are simply far too few that anyone is willing to sell or trade in these days. These bikes have quickly followed the original R80GS is popularity, dependability, light weight, durability and over time a steady increase in values. And then there is the sheer FUN factor involved in owning and riding an early GS.Yes, this one is missing the tank decals it originally came from BMW with but most people looking at it think this small change seriously improved the looks of this otherwise timeless machine. This owner was not the only soul who removed them – they simply were not everyone’s visual cup of tea. And that issue was not much different than the original two tone dual seat which in this case has been upgraded; yellow (the rider portion) seats tend to get very dirty pretty fast.And we will share right at the start of this story that there is a medium sized (smaller than a beer coaster) dent on the top right side which you’ll see in one of the images. We selected to not address this since the tank still holds a good 6 gallons of fuel and because it’s black does not show too badly; we didn’t think fixing it would make the bike a lot more valuable but could certainly do this for you once it’s yours. Otherwise the bike is in very nice, mostly original cosmetic condition from end to end and top to bottom. And Bob’s has been caring for this bike since 2009 when it came to us in trade from who we believe was the original owner. The next person (you?) to have fun with and care for this gem should be the third owner.
