Don’t miss your opportunity to own a piece of history!! Up for auction is a 1956 Russian Zid K-55. The Zid K-55 is essentially a copy of the German DKW 125. Many motorcycle manufacturers copied the German DKW after WWII, including the Harley Hummer, BSA Bantam, Yamaha YA1, and of course the Zid K-55. This motorcycle was in a museum in Latvia until the museum closed in 2006, at which time a small motorcycle dealer from Indiana bought it, with several others. I bought it from him in 2008. The bike did not run and needed restored. I completely disassembled this motorcycle down to the frame and performed a complete frame up restoration. This bike is now museum quality. I spared no expense restoring this bike (ask my wife, she will tell you!!). The following is a list of what has been done to this bike: The frame, swing arm, rims, and center stand were powder coated. The sheet metal was repainted with a base coat / clear coat application. New tank graphics and hand painted pin striping. All chrome parts have been re-chromed. The interior of the gas tank has been chemically cleaned, etched, and coated with a 3-step process. All new cables. New tire tubes and rim strips. New foot peg rubbers. New kick start and shifter rubbers. New wiring. New battery. All new hardware. New horn (I have the original but it does not function). New stainless steel spokes. All aluminum parts have been buffed and polished. This bike starts right up. Everything is functional including all lighting, brakes, horn, and speedometer. I got this bike running and drove it before I performed the restoration. Since the restoration, I have started the bike; however I have not driven it, as I restored it to be a show bike. I entered this bike into a show last July and took 1st place in the European Vintage Stock division. Since the restoration, I have not put gas in the tank. To start it, I put oil in the gear box and gas in the carb only. I have run it through its gears on the center stand. I will start it in the same manner for the winning bidder. If you are the winning bidder, feel free to put gas in the tank and use it as a daily driver. However, until that time comes, I cannot and will not. The following is a list of vendors used during the restoration: Powder Coating……….Capitol Powder Coating. Mogadore, Ohio. Paint……….Macco Paint and Body. Akron, Ohio. Chrome……….West Coast Chrome. Medesto, California. Tank Graphics……….Fast Signs. Pleasant Hill, California. Hand Painted Pin Striping……….Wizard Graphics. New Middleton, Ohio. Custom Cables……….Motion Pro. San Carlos, California. Stainless Steel Spokes……….Buchanan’s Spoke & Rim. Azusa, California. Disassembly, reassembly, and hand polishing……….Yours truly!! I have a clear Indiana Title in hand. I am willing to ship at the buyers expense. Please have permission from your significant other and the ability to pay before bidding. If you have less then 5 transactions and/or less then a 100% positive feedback rating, contact me before bidding.

Here is your chance to own a piece of history!! Up for sale is a 1956 Russian Zid K-55. This bike is designed after the German DKW 125. After WWII, many motorcycle manufacturers copy the DKW. Harley Davidson copied it and called it the Hummer, BSA copied it and called it the Bantam, Yamaha copied it and called it the YA1 (By the way, that was Yamaha's first production bike in1949), and of course the Russians copied it and called it the ZID. This bike was in a museum in Latvia until 2006 when a small time motorcycle dealer bought several and brought them to the states. I bought it from him in 2008 when he closed shop. Someone did a very poor restoration on the bike. I striped the bike down to the bare frame and performed a frame up restoration. I had the frame, center stand, swing arm, fork tubes, and luggage rack powder coated. The fenders, gas tank, and tool box were painted with a base coat, clear coat process. Nothing was left undone. All chrome pieced were re-chromed. All wiring is new, the tire tubes are new, the battery is new, the hand grips and all shifter and foot peg rubber has been replaced. Mechanically, the cylinder head and cylinder were removed for blasting and painting. While apart, the head was port and polished, the cylinder was honed as well as painted and baked. All cables have been replaced, carburetor was cleaned. The interior of the gas tank was cleaned, etched, and coated with a three step process. The spokes are new. The tank badges are new and the pin-striping was done professionally by hand. Both the pin-striping and tank badges were applied before the final clear coat for added protection. All aluminum surfaces have been polished. All hardware has been replaced. I tried to reuse as many of the original parts as possible. Where replacement parts were necessary, I saved the original parts. The tires are original and have the words Made In The USSR stamped on them. I have a service manual, however it is written in Russian. I rode this bike before it was disassembled. Since its restoration, I have pit gas in the carb and started the bike, however I have not riden it because I now consider it to be a show bike. I entered it into a show last summer and took first place in the European Vintage Stock division. The following companies or individuals were involved in the restoration: Powder Coating.....Capital Powder Coating, Mogadore OhioPainting.....Macco Auto Body, Akron OhioPin-striping.....Wizard Graphics, Youngstown OhioTank Badges......Fast Signs, CaliforniaChrome,,,,,West Coast Chrome, Modesto CaliforniaSpokes.....Bucanan Spoke, Azusa CaliforniaCustom Cables.....Motion Pro Cables, San Carlos CaliforniaDisassembly, engine work, polishing, and re assembly.....Yours truly!! This is a custom motorcycle made to resemble a BSA Bantam, or triumph lightweight twin motorcycle from the 1930-1940 era using a reliable, fuel efficient honda twinstar cm200t as the basis for a fun little bike that looks almost 80 years old, but starts on the first kick or push of the electric starter. solid state ignition means no points to adjust, legendary honda reliability and easy, inexpensive repair and maintenence parts keeps you on the road. this bike was built to draw looks, but be available at a moments notice for an impromptu ride. i styled this bike along the lines of early velocette KTT KSS race bikes in respect to stance, lines and where the accessory pouches and saddlery were placed. the finish was aged using the same artistic techniques that create $10,000 custom electric guitars in the 'relic' style: i cut my teeth making vintage guitars and amplifiers, as well as aging new ones to look 50 years old and have that comfortable 'broken in' feel like a nice pair of used levi jeans. aged lacquer paint and finishing techniques used in fine furniture and artwork restoration were used throughout to give the bike a winning patina that says "nicely kept, regularly ridden, original barn find bike that has been brought back to life" the pedestrian slicer license is a belfast/co armagh prefix from northern ireland. the vincent tail light and number plate on the rear match. you will have to place your state license plate over it to be road legal. take a look for yourself at all of the custom details on this great little bike. it was shown at the Oregon Vintage Motorcycle show in Salem Oregon a few months ago, and it drew a lot of attention at its unveiling in the Vintage Japanese category. be prepared if you buy this bike to answer a million questions about how old it is, what is it? currently the bike is in storage/display/musem state, and will need to have fluids checked/changed/topped up to bring back into service. it is on a hidden ballistic battery maintained on a trickle charger, and will always kick or push start. the fuel in the tank has been treated with stabilizer to negate ethanol degradation of the fuel system components during storage period. we are happy to deliver the bike to you in the portland oregon metro area for free. delivery in the PNW is possible by us for an additional fuel/delievery fee. outside oregon/washington i would suggest using uship.com for a private haulage contractor. we have successfully shipped a BMW r71 replica across country using them and would recommend them. international shipping is possible, at buyers arrangement. drop of is possible to port of portland, PDX airport, or port of seattle for surface. (seattle shipment will incur transportation cost) for shipping out of state Froo www.froo.com | Froo Cross Sell, Free Cross Sell, Cross promote, eBay Marketing, eBay listing Apps, eBay Apps, eBay Application On Aug-22-15 at 14:53:00 PDT, seller added the following information:
