Walsh Jr., 43, and firefighter Michael R. Kennedy, 33, above the words “Last Alarm 3/26/2014.” “I’m speechless, actually,” Kennedy said Sunday. “It’s a gorgeous, gorgeous thing. The whole bike is a work of art.” Motorcycle enthusiasts gathered alongside firefighters and city officials Sunday at Florian Hall in Dorchester for the unveiling of an Orange County Choppers-designed motorbike that honors the firefighters killed in the March 26 fire. The New England Patriots will hold a raffle for the bike and give it away at their final home game this year on Dec. 28. The $10 raffle tickets will go on sale Tuesday at nefc2014.com. Proceeds will benefit the Metropolitan SWAT Officers Association and charities in the names of the fallen firefighters. This is an industry with no real guidelines and everyone's opinion is completely different. The average consumer doesn’t realize classic vehicles weren’t restored at the factory and are being restored by people in their garages. Everyone’s level of restoration experience is different and it shows in the restoration. An example would be a classic vehicle that's being advertised as an original model with matching numbers could be a phony with a reproduction trim tag and re stamped numbers on the engine block, etc. Another example would be a classic vehicle is being advertised as a full restoration when indeed only a few things have been restored. There are many classic vehicles listed for sale that have cosmetic and mechanical issues with such items as the body, paint, glass, lights, body hinges, gauges, window components, steering components, upholstery, engine leaks and tuning, radiators, transmission, rear end, brake components and suspension components. The consumers are spending thousands of dollars repairing the classic vehicles they've purchased after the sale. A bad purchase could turn into the buyer’s worst nightmare and be extremely costly! Custom Construction Bobber up for sale. Just completed, runs and rides excellent!! I built this bike over the last two years, its a labor of love and I hate to see it go, but its time for the next project. I have rode it a few times just to keep the fluids moving and the battery charged. It isn't perfect or a show winner by any means, but definitely a great bike for someone who wants to ride and isn't looking to spend a ton of money. The frame is a Straight Up Choppers frame bought from Demon Cycles, zero up zero out, 30 degree rack, powder coated gloss black. The front end is a DNA Gloss Black 2 under stock length. Front wheel and tire is a 21x2.15 60 spoke chrome, 90/90 21. Rear Wheel and Tire is a 18x8.5 60 spoke chrome, 250. Motor is a 1997 Sportster 1200 with a five speed transmission painted black. Motor runs very strong, new clutch pack, new plugs, and all new gaskets, totally freshened up. New stock ignition, coil, and regulator. Custom fender fabricated by me with struts and mounts. Bung King 3.5 quart Round Oil Tank filled with synthetic fluids. Bung King Battery Box filled with stock equivalent Sportster Battery. Assorted Bung King Mounts used throughout the build. High Torque Starter brand new. S&S Super E Carb brand new and properly jetted. 3.1 gallon king peanut tank with custom filler neck and petcock located to get the most fuel out of the tank. Autometer speedometer properly calibrated and currently reading 22 miles. Wires Plus custom wiring harness, with brains and key switch/starter located at the top motor mount. Two buttons on the motor mount are starter and headlight dimmer. Handle bars are 12 inch apes with exile internal throttle. All tig welded. Everything is powder coated gloss black except the fender and tank, which are dark blue. I am sure there are some small things I am missing, but if you have a question please ask and I will be more than happy to provide feedback. I have receipts for all the parts. The bike will come with an MSO for the frame and a Bill of Sale for the motor. There is no warranty for the bike. I have hundreds of hours of labor in this custom bike, and again I hate to get rid of it, but its time for another project. I am willing to deliver the bike via trailer up to 150 miles or so for the cost of fuel. But if you are the buyer something else may be worked out or negotiated. It doesn't hurt to ask. WIKIPEDIA INFORMATION: The Norton Commando was a British Norton-Villiers motorcycle with an OHV pre-unit parallel-twin engine, produced by the Norton Motorcycle company from 1967 until 1977. Initially having a nominal 750 ccdisplacement, actually 745 cc (45.5 cu in), in 1973 it became an 850 cc, actually 828 cc (50.5 cu in). It had a hemi-type head, similar to all OHV Norton engines since the early 1920s. During its ten years of production, the Commando was popular all over the world. In the United Kingdom it won the Motor Cycle News "Machine of the Year" award for five successive years from 1968-1972. Given that its engine was an old pre-unit design, even Norton's chairman, Dennis Poore, expressed surprise at the Commando's remarkable success. Background The origins of the Norton Commando can be traced back to the late 1940s when the 497 cc (30.3 cu in) Norton Model 7 Twin was designed by Bert Hopwood. The twin-cylinder design evolved into 600 cc, then the 650 cc Manxman and Dominator until superseded by 750 cc Atlas before being launched as the 750 cc Commando in 1967. As well as having a radical new frame, the Commando's engine (which was mounted vertically in earlier models) was tilted forward. The consumers are spending thousands of dollars repairing the classic vehicles they've purchased after the sale. A bad purchase could turn into the buyer’s worst nightmare and be extremely costly! Up for sale is a 1985 Pulse motorcycle which is in the class called 'autocycle'. It is a bike you ride inside! It is currently in a custom bike shop in middle Missouri (zip code is 65787) being restored and upgraded. The original Yamaha 400 air cooled engine has been replaced with a 1988 Honda Goldwing 1500 drive train. It has a new $ 1,200.00 windshield (in the box) that needs to be installed after the painting is done. It also has a new front tire and both outrigger wheels and tires are new. The GL1500 drive train does have a 'reverse' gear, cruise control and is water cooled so a real heater is possible. Some Pulse's came with A/C but this one does not, however the dash vents are installed! Since it is in the shop some of the fiberglass has been removed for upgrading. When a deposit is received, the bike will be reassembled and drivable and ready for pickup by the buyer. If it doesn't sell that I will proceed with some of my favorite mods that I want to do to the bike. It has a clear Missouri title. ALSO included is a two wheel boat trailer with chrome wheels and buddy bearings. Plans are available to turn it into a custom trailer for the Pulse. Like most Pulse 'finds' it will still need a new interior, typical fiberglass crack repair, paint job, dash restore/upgrade, etc. The biggest part of this project... the Honda GW 1500 drive train installation has been done. The custom bike shop wants to complete this project, if you will allow them and they can do most any custom work you may want. Please note... in some of the pictures the Pulse is painted white. These pictures are of my first Pulse only and are shown to give various views of a Pulse. The Pulse bike that is for sale is yellow. If the picture is yellow, it is my bike. Included in the sale is a backup camera and display so you can really see what is behind you, parts for twin simulated jet engines, and a voice response unit so you can command the bike to open the canopy, turn lights and radio on/off, etc. Fancy stuff.
