This is a project bike all the electronics work ie. lights and blinkers. The bike needs a main drive seal and the Ignitech CDI that is on it now programmed correctly. Needs a cafe racer style seat either made or bought for it. other than that with some TLC and paint this bike is very close to being complete CX 500 cafe racer. Great for a beginner project. Motor will fire when timed correct.

For a 34 year old motorcycle it is in incredible condition with low miles. The engine and carbs have been cleaned and returned to stock, with new gaskets and filters in all of the systems as of Spring 2015. The tank is un-dented but there are some small places where jacket zippers and the like have scratched through the clear coat. The wheels and forks were freshly enameled black in Spring 2015 and any missing paint on the frame was filled to prevent rust. There is one small crack in one of the engine mounts and it looks like a previous owner let it fall on its side once as there are about 3 dime sized scratches on the right side of the bike. As with most vehicles of this age, there is no warranty and it is being sold as-is. Her name is Popcorn and she'll do the ton, under safe and legal conditions. Modifications for the cafe mod are as follows: -Fairing removed and replaced with a new 7in headlight and low profile turn signals. The horn was removed to make room for the new headlight. -Black clubman handlebars with new muddy brown Oury grips. -Front fender chopped and enameled black. Rear fender also chopped. -Wheels and front forks enameled black. Wheel bearings replaced June 2015 -Front forks shortened 1 in. -Stock exhaust replaced with a Mac 2 into 1 system with a 2.5 in Cherry Bomb muffler, enameled black and wrapped with tan fiberglass heat wrap. The CX platform will never be a quick bike, but removing weight certainly helps make the most of the engine's power. Swapping exhausts saved about 20lbs, fairing removal saved ~10 lbs. Losing half a fender was another pound. There are still places for weight savings to be made but the difference is already noticeable. More weight can come off by changing out the stock seat, but everyone has their own preference in cafe racer seats so I decided to leave this one stock for the next owner. Plus the stock one is as comfy as it is ugly. I have another pair of low profile turn signals to be installed by the new owner if they choose to redo the seat/rear end. The bike also comes with the original Honda maintenance/safety kit, and extra set of fuses (it doesn't go through them, the previous owner gave them to me so I figured I would send them on), a Clymer's manual, and a set of front foot pegs that attach to the font of the frame like on a Harley (great for long trips). The braking system works well, the engine cools great at speed or in traffic, and the bike is a pleasure to ride. Items on bike are professionally painted to a mirror finish or powder coated. It is fitted with Renthal Style handle bars, new dual sport tires, British style headlamp and a shorty exhaust system which sounds awesome! Attention to detail is very important to me. 1978 Honda Cx 500, This is a 1978 Honda CX500 that has been converted to a cafe racer. The CX is one of the most coveted platforms in which to create a cafe racer. A cafe racer is one of the most unique kind of bikes on the road. The bike has just over 14,000 original miles. It is in amazing condition. It has been completely taken apart and rebuilt from the frame up. The frame was sand blasted and painted. The engine and every other part has been cleaned, buffed or replaced as needed. It has a brand new Ignitech CDI box, rebuilt carbs jetted for opened air and exhaust, new air filters, new Shorai lithium iron battery that has been moved to the bottom of the motorcycle. 100% Custom Build 1980 Honda CX500 Cafe Racer. The bike is a full frame - off 12 month restoration with no expenses spared. This bike can be easily used for everyday riding. It is light, nimble and unbelievably fun to ride. Breathtaking - this is the most common response you hear from people seeing this build in our showroom. This bike is perfect from top to bottom. Everything on this bike was taken apart, restored or replaced. It was professional build over a 12 month period. To give this bike its unique look the tank was hand - painted by an artist over a three month period. It now has the artists signature pattern and styling that adds a new element to the bike and will never again be re - created. This build is a blend between modern performance, and vintage styling. The frame was first shortened and butted, and had all of the unnecessary tabs and brackets removed before it was sent to powder coat in a layer of classic gloss black.
