These were the first off road motorcycles that Honda imported to the US. Model C-105 sold in 1963 for $275 plus destination and set up. Honda’s slogan “YOU MEET THE NICEST PEOPLE ON A HONDA” was working. These little bikes were becoming quite popular. There was even a song on the radio: “Little Honda” by the Hondells, They were advertised everywhere. My favorite read “FOR THE MAN ON THE WAY UP   You’re sure to arrive with a TRAIL “55”. For the HONDA TRAIL “55” is made for going places…places most men only dream of going. Imagine a vehicle with a lively 4-cycle OHV engine and a low gear ratio of 70 to 1 which will whisk you-plus 250 lbs of load-up mountains, over logs, down gullies, through terrain that would stop a jeep and make a burro balk. A vehicle so rugged it is virtually maintenance-free: yet so light (126 lbs) and compact it will fit on a car bumper or in the smallest station wagon. A vehicle that will take you to that trophy buck or record trout-and back again with matchless ease and economy. That is the HONDA TRAIL “55”-America’s largest selling trail machine.      We believe our 55 has 675 original miles. The entire bike has been disassembled, inspected, , polished bare frame, repainted, polished bare aluminum, serviced, and put back together and perfectly tuned. The motor is all original except: for a  bigger KEI HIN carburetor that’s compatible with today’s fuel (metal float valve) and a chrome straight pipe for a healthy sound. I have been riding Honda’s since 66 and never seen a 55 that ran better. Its no rocket: goes 25 with the big sprocket and 45 mph with the small sprocket. What it does is it makes good torque. Any 55 owner from back in the day would tell you “it goes anywhere” or “it will climb a tree”. Never tried that but it is fun and very easy to ride. Has automatic clutch (works perfect) and a three speed that shifts all down with no searching for neutral between gears (Transmission  is as new). The custom seat on ours sits low and works better for shorter riders.  The gas tank is a plastic after market. We have the original gas tank (rusty inside) and if you have the inside coated we will paint it to match. We have the seat mount too, but no stock seat, there is no kick start, but it starts very easy with one shove in second.         This HONDA TRAIL “55” is a piece of history. The first off road Honda, This one quit running when the drive chain fell off and broke the ignition points cover (allowing dirt and moisture to cause the breaker points to fail>Loss of spark).Has new OEM points now and perfectly tuned  The cover has been repaired and still shows a tiny crack on the outside. The damage was minimal and the cover is sealed and it has a new drive chain now. This HONDA TRAIL 55 is similar to my first bike a Honda Sport 50, guess that's why I spent so many hours repainting and polishing it. It looks pretty decent. I would like to keep it in a glass case, but just don’t have room for that. You are welcome to see it in Gresham.Oregon and I can run it anytime but it only goes out for fair weather. The bike has a lost title and Oregon DMV is no help there. It will be sold with a bill of sale and buyer is responsible for picking it up. We will not ship it.   If you seen it earlier: I still have the tiny gas tank, I think it looked better. Somebody calculated it had about 8 mile range.       Special thanks to:  Lee for the carburetor, Skiclutter for the  CM91 intake manifold, Karenndale for the new OEM brake cable, Speed Addict Cycles for the RK chain, Parts Avenue for the new IRC tires, Dgs38 for the new OEM points,
