Relisting motorcycle, the previous auction winner was excellent at bidding but not so good at paying. Up for auction is a beautifully restored 1975 Honda CR125 motocross bike. This is a rather unique vintage motocross machine with numerous rare NOS parts and custom made light weight parts that set it apart from a stock machine. On top of the machine is an FMF RC Replica fiberglass fuel tank. It's much lighter than the stock steel tank and the rest of the bike was painted to match the original red gelcoat of the tank. The rebuilt engine features a perfect FMF Porcupine head with no broken fins or pitted areas in the dome. The exhaust is a rare NOS FMF Pro pipe with zero dents or scratches. The swingarm is an FMF issued Redline Chromoly unit with bronze swingarm bushings and newly machined aluminum axle blocks. The carburetor is an upgraded Mikuni carb that was the hot ticket back in '75. The rear suspension features NOS Redwing Shocks and the front forks have been rebuilt and contain the FMF Air/Oil Conversion caps. Custom features include a lightweight aluminum kickstarter that replaces the heavy and floppy steel stock item and a billet aluminum pipe hanger. The factory footpegs have also been widened with weld-on extensions to make them much more comfortable for the rider. Heavy-duty Terry cables were used along with all new hand controls and grips. The seat is completely restored. The seat pan is new along with the taller GP foam and matching cover with the Honda logo printed on the back. The rest of the bike is pure 1975 Honda and not a mix of other year CR parts. The motor is the correct '75 engine with a perfect ignition cover and no chain damage to the cases The rims, hubs and forks are also correct for '75. The frame is in great condition and the footpegs are straight and level. Included with the bike is a custom made axle stand to display the bike and the original kickstand tab is still on the frame if you wanted to add a kickstand to the machine. Being offered is a 1980 Honda CR125, Racer. No expense was spared in the building of this bike, it is like new with only 3 heat cycles on the engine. The engine has all new OEM honda bearings, seals and gaskets, new steel and fiber clutch plates, The cylinder is on standard bore with new piston, rings, bearing, pin and clips. The carb is a rebuilt and jetted Keihin, new reeds are added also It has a NOS pipe with a dent free oem silencer. It has mint DID rims, New buchanon heavy guage stainless spokes and nipples, new tubes and locks, all new wheel bearings, seals and brake shoes, wrapped in new rubber. The front forks and trees are rust free 1980 cr250 originals, rebuilt with new seals and seal savers. The frame is solid, it has no repairs, rust, rewelds, crushed or damaged tubes, it has been powdercoated with RAL3020 in gloss red. The swingarm is powdercoated also, with new bearings and chain buffer. The rear shocks are 16" Fox airs, completely rebuilt by Thor also, they are in mint shape with no rash or damage, The chain rollers and sliders are new throughout, it has a new sprockets, 12t steel counter shaft and a 51t alloy Sprocket Specialties rear and a new black chain. The plastics are all new throughout, they are from VMX racing and very high quality, it has a new seat cover fitted over new seat foam also from VMX racing, the tank is a Oem 79 CR125 alloy unit that has been restored and is in perfect condition.It has new Vortex vintage bend bars , all the cables a NOS honda, it has period correct shorty levers, new Pro taper grips, side pull throttle and a new kill button. all bolts are new and stainless with stainless locknuts throughout. All axles and other hardware have been zinc plated back to original. Inside the uncracked air box is a new UNI Air filter. This bike runs and handles great, weight has been shaved off the bike wherever possible and it feels very nimble. It is very tight and feels like new. This is a 1982 CR 125. It is a complete bike but a little bit of a project. Overall it is in amazing shape. The compression is somewhat low and it will only start if push started.It shifts through all the gears fine, clutch works fine. The rear shock has good dampening and does not leak, the linkage is not all sloppy either. The water pump area does show some corrosion but is usable. It has Evans waterless coolant in it. Th bad... the a previous owner apparently liked the color black and spray painted the frame and even the spokes. (YUCK!) I have not attempted to remove the paint. It has the following new parts: 1) left and right DC Plastics side panels 2) DC Plastics front number plate 3) New Moose bars 4) new grips 5) New aftermarket aluminum radiators. 6) New rear tire ( wear from a few zips up my dead end street ) I would be happy to show this bike in person if requested. It is located in Baldwinsville, NY 13027. It would make and excellent easy restoration project OR with a little TLC a great trail bike. It is NOT a museum piece. This is an original, never been restored, 1975 Honda CR125M Elsinore. I purchased this motorcycle in 1980 and then moved from Washington State to South Dakota in 1983. This motorcycle has been stored in a climate controlled basement at my folks house since 1984. I recently moved it from the folks basement to my garage, and drained and flushed all fluids to include flushing the gas tank. Filled crankcase with new oil and mixed new gas and oil mixture. Performed other maintenance operations such as air filter cleaning and installed new handle-bar grips. Turned gas on and choked, and with a couple kicks of the kick-starter it fired up and ran like it did when I put it into storage. This bike is not perfect, It is 41 years old. I repaired a crack in the rear fender from when I purchased it back in 1980, and also the gear shift lever was replaced at that time. Look at the pictures, do your research, these bikes restored go from 7K to 8K. I have not found an original one in this condition in the past 2 years of research.
