1983 Suzuki Tempter GR650, Classic, very rare bike! - The Suzuki GR650, badged "Tempter" in the states, is a nicely balanced 650cc Vertical Twin, which at the time was Suzuki's answer to the British vertical twin cycles made by Triumph, Norton, BSA, etc. The big difference was the GR650 had been cleverly updated with better technology and reliability, including a unique floater single shock suspension. Although It was produced from 1983 through 1989, it was only imported into the US for two years -1983 and 1984 - due to poor sales, mainly because the market for this type of bike had dried up, along with the severe recession that plagued the country at the time. That makes it a rare bike you just don't see much on the roads. These bikes continued to be imported to Canada and other countries until the end of the production run in 1989. It is very popular in Europe, especially in the Netherlands. They seem to run for many miles if maintained. The regular models included upgraded air forks, an auxiliary running front light, two tone paint and mag wheels. 1983 Suzuki Gr 650 D TEMPTER, I have an '83 GR650 for sale. I do not have the space to store it, the money to keep it, or the time for it. It has an electrical problem that I have not figured out(hence the time issues). It ran great a few years ago. The ride is smooth and it handles well, with enough power to satisfy a medium skilled rider. Very comfortable ride. It still turns over freely, just doesn't have strong spark on one cylinder. It is at a house I recently moved out of and I do not have room to store it where I am currently living so I need it to go ASAP. Asking $750 OBO. This bike is a 1983 Suzuki GR650XD This bike runs like a swiss watch and gets down the road like it's nobody's business. There have been some upgrades and changes to the bike from it's original stock appearance and it has been transformed into a bit of a Street tracker or Scrambler style of bike. The engine has been gone through and everything brought up to spec The Mikuni BS36 carbs were cleaned using an ultra sonic washer and re-jetted for the increased air flow & exhaust flow. The bike sounds great but not overly so. When you really hit it it barks like a rabid mongrel (gotta love that) The tank has an ultra high gloss powder coated finish and the frame has fresh paint. This GR650 has a clean title and many new parts, but has problems starting and running. It does run but always smokes at start(grey). The smoke is mostly from the pipes, but it is a very thick smoke. Head Gaskets have been replaced twice out of the advice of two different shops but that did not give good results. It has been a huge waste of money for us. It has brand new Pirelli Sport Demon tires, new sintered EBC brake pads, and had a conventional oil change done a month ago. The Speedometer does not work but is included. Headlight, turn signals and horn work. Battery is brand new, the bike starts but smokes grey for 2 minutes. It runs but it has shutdown on us before. Please do not make an offer unless you are willing to take the bike apart or put significant work into it.

This is a really tastefully well- built bike. I bought it in 'o4 from a dealer in Oklahoma who said that the previous owner had the bike built with little expense spared. He then traded it in for a Harley. The engine was completely freshened, head cut .020 & hotter cams, I don't know about valves or porting, has under-cut transmission gears so it shifts flawlessly, Arrow titanium header, I went back to stock carbs cause the big flat-slides were not very smooth on the street-and they rattled a lot too. Pro-tek clip-ons, Attack rear-sets, 520 chain conversion , really wide Enkei powder-coated rims, hrc guages and carbon-fiber seat ,Dunlop 190/50 17 rear, 130/70 16 front-D207 radials and look at the pictures, it's hard to describe how nice this bike is. I have an rc-51 that has sat since I bought this cause this bike is just so much nicer to ride Starts, runs, shifs and sounds like a Moto GP and just makes your butt want to grin when you get on it. It does have a few very small flaws in the paint due to rock chips from the street This bike was practically Flawless when I got it so it couldn't have had many miles on it since the build. It is street legal. I've put about 6-700 miles on it at best. It rides and feels like a new bike. It has never been abused by me-I'm 61 and ride like it too.There are some light scratches in the carbon cover on the left side when I let it sit in the yard and it did a slow motion tip when the side stand san-I knew better but it did happen. Mileage is Not known-no speedo, and temp guage has never worked since I've owned it This Honda will remind you of why Hondas are superior to many brands. Nuff said.
