Last year of the Knucklehead. This bike has had the same owner for the last 63 years... yes that is correct. 63 years of ownership. You also read correctly...this bike has ORIGINAL PAINT. This bike has...original patina, original tins, original frame, original windshield, original saddlebags, original wheels, original front wheel chrome trim rings, original front end, original toolbox, original speedometer showing 32075 miles on the bike. This is a turn the key, kick it and fire it right up, ride and enjoy antique Harley Knucklehead. Does not need any work whatsoever to enjoy. Runs and rides great. Everything works ! Headlight works, horn works, tail light works, speedometer backlighting works, and dash lights work ! Bike has just received a fresh oil change with Harley 60 weight oil, fresh autolite spark plugs, brand new Harley 6-volt battery, and fresh gas. There is no rust inside the gas tanks at all. The original Linkert carburetor works great with no issues. Bike has no leaking at all . Couple small drips under the outer primary as usual from the chain oiler. Again this Harley has had the same owner for the last 63 years. He bought the bike at 17 years old from a friend (the original owner) on August 6th, 1952. He has owned the bike ever since until recently having made the decision at 80 years old to sell the bike. I have the entire history of ownership available from the past 63 years, and am happy to share the amazing story of the bike's history and ownership. Aside from regular servicing of the bike, very very little has been done to this motorcycle during the last 63 years. The original seat rotted and fell apart so the seat was replaced. The original muffler cracked along the lower welded seam, so the muffler was also replaced. During the original owner's term of ownership during the first five years of the bike's life the original motor went bad. It was replaced and upgraded to a 74" Knucklehead engine which was a huge upgrade due to increased motor size and power. This motor coupled to the original four speed transmission and foot clutch/tank shift combo offered much easier capability of cruising at highway speeds. Please take the time to look over all 24 photos that I have here. I have many more photos available should any prospective buyer want them. Just call and ask for them. I also welcome and encourage the opportunity to show this bike in person by appointment to any prospective buyer should they have any questions to the condition or integrity of this antique Harley. Still sporting its license plate from Fort Leonord Wood, and with its shaft drive, and a transverse mounted V twin motor! Simply unreal for the year! In response to this request, Indian designed and built the 841 The Indian 841 was heavily inspired by the BMW R71 motorcycle, as was its competitor, the Harley-Davidson XA.[2] However, unlike the XA, the 841 was not a copy of the R71. Although its tubular frame, plunger rear suspension, four speed transmission, foot operated shifter, hand operated clutch and shaft drive were similar to the BMW's, the 841 was different from the BMW in several aspects, most noticeably so with its 90-degree longitudinal-crankshaft V-twin engine and girder fork.[1][2][4] Also unlike the R71 and the XA, the 841 used a heel-and-toe shift pedal with heel-operated upshifts and toe-operated downshifts.[4] The bike also had a low compression ratio of 5.1:1, meaning that it could be run on low-octane fuel, crash bars to protect the cylinders, 18-inch wheels, two separate gas tanks for a total of 5 gallons of available fuel and newly designed girder forks for better shock absorption.[7] In order to reduce costs, the new V-twin shared several internal components with the existing Indian Sport Scout, resulting in the same bore and stroke of 2.87 in × 3.50 in (73 mm × 89 mm).[3][6] The Indian 841 and the Harley-Davidson XA were both tested by the Army,[1][4][8] but neither motorcycle was adopted for wider military use. Up for sale is my personal bike I built using the best parts I could. I own seven bikes so I don't put many miles on any of them. I found a genuine Harley Davidson Police Speedometer a couple of years ago so the milage does not match what is really on the motor. The motor is a 1987 1340 completely rebuilt with Screaming Eagle 11.5 to one , Screaming Eagle heads that I had ported and polished , EV 57 Camshaft , S&S E carb and a Milwalkee Iron functional air cleaner. BDL 3" open electric start belt drive , Baker 6 Speed Transmission , New Harley Davidson Battery , chrome horse shoe oil tank , steel braided oil lines , Carlini Torque arm , Santee Hardtail frame , Panhead rear fender with sargant stripes , tombstone tail light and accessory bumper. The front end is made with FLH chrome Harley Davidson fork sliders , chrome dual disc brakes , stainless steel rotors , Softail Deuce Tripple Trees and headlight . The 5 gallon tanks are genuine HD off of a 1966 FLH they are sealed with the red coat and have 1955 tank badges. The speedometer works perfectly and came of a 1983 Police Bike. The seat is a mustang that has been recovered. The rear brake is a 2005 Softail chrome Harley Davidson brake. It has aeromach mirrors with devil tail stems , it has a Joker machine master cyl. Brand new rear chain . I build the wheels using HD rims , had them powder coated along with the hubs.I used stainless steel diamond spokes from Landmark. It has Avon Venom tires. The exhaust is hand made two into one with flex Panhead heat shields and replica Knucklehead muffler . This bike has a clean title in my name it is titles as a 1994 HD Recon Virginia .This has been the most reliable bike I have owned , I just don't ride that much and I am into collecting antique motorcycles.
