[email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 2005 Custom Chopper Custom Built Chopper 114ci V-Twin 6 Speed "Money" Year: 2005 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Green Mileage: 3000 Transmission type: 6 Speed Manual Engine: 114 cu in V-Twin Interior color: Black Vehicle info Biker Build-Off went off the air in 2007, West Coast Choppers shut down in October 2010, and American Chopper is more focused on family drama than bikes. Does that mean the chopper scene is dead? Of course not. It just means the scene is back where it belongs in the garages of hardcore enthusiasts. The silver lining of the chopper boom was the introduction of countless new aftermarket brands and components that allowed a new generation of bikers to build show-quality scoots without needing a full machine shop in the garage. This wild custom is the intersection of high-end hardware and the talents of a NASCAR mechanic with a vision. Built between 2004 and 2005, this chopper is long, low, and loud in every sense of the word. If the combination of a big twin, big rake, and bright paint get your motor going, this custom chopper may be your new favorite toy! While most 'professional' choppers are standardized, mass-produced packages that lack the intensity and attention to detail of a grassroots build, true customs like this chopper maintain a level of style and authenticity that can be tweaked and massaged to create an individual masterpiece. This build started with a rigid frame from Diamond Chassis, formerly based in Riverside, CA. The piece was stretched 4-inches up front and 6-inches out back for that classic 'long and low' look, furthered by an impressive 46-inch rake. That foundation is topped by a custom tank and steel front and rear fenders which feature the bike's calling card: a marbleized candy green paint complete with faux hundred-dollar bills and dollar signs buried under the clear. HOBO Speed and Customs did the work and it's hard to argue with the glossy results. It's a strong statement and one carried out with impressive dedication even the frame has dollar signs incorporated into various locations. Of course, there's a lot more to the look at than paint. The show gets started at the front where a 21-inch Weld EVO wheel wrapped in a 90/90-21 Avon tire steps forward, fronting a complete HHI front end with a smooth traditional fork finished in chrome. A single headlight mounts to the triple tree while, above, a dollar sign bridges the space between the handlebars. Those sleek and slender billet hand controls are from Cyril Huze, with all associated cables routed neatly through the bars. There are no gauges to speak of but the tank is topped with a flush pop-up gas cap to keep the smooth lines flowing without interruption. Climb onto the bike and a sculpted Hot Tails seats makes room for you and an embossed dollar sign, while visually connecting the frame and the rear fender. Under that fender, an 18-inch rear wheel with a fat 250/40R18 tire fills out the space while, to the left, a billet license plate frame is topped by a Paul Yaffe taillight. The heart of this Ben Franklin tribute is a polished 114 cubic inch V-twin from the talented crew at TP Engineering. As one of the must trust names in V-twin performance, you already know this is a serious piece. The spec sheet reads like a miniature race car build with terms like "forged flat-top pistons", "forged steel rocker arms", and "CNC-ported heads" gracing the list. The setup is good for an impressive 114hp and 121lb-ft of torque, balancing the bike's performance with its visual sizzle. A single 45mm Mikuni carb with a polished velocity stack handles fueling while, on the left side, an open primary with a custom dollar sign cover helps lighten the rotating weight of the driveline. If loud pipes save lives, this chopper is a modern day hero twist the wick and the V-twin howls through a pair of short coated pipes with angle cuts. Behind the 114, a JIMS 6-speed overdrive offers a gear for every situation while improving open road fuel economy. Nearly everyone that walks by this chopper stops and looks at it and, if the visuals don't grab them, the exhaust note definitely will once it starts up. Best of all, there are no disappointments when it's time to hit the road - every piece here is top shelf. Find a nice stretch of asphalt, let the big twin breathe, and you'll never second-guess the decision to bring this custom chopper home! Unlike muscle cars and sports cars, which are somewhat homogenous, custom cars are created around the cornerstones of a true enthusiast's psyche: GO FAST and LOOK GOOD. And when you build a classic around those two principles, you either go big or go home. With a big engine, big tires, big comfort and big looks, this killer Willys LIVES that motto. And if you're the kind of buyer who's ready to slay strips and drop jaws, it's the gleaming thrill ride you've been waiting for! BODYWORK/TRIM For over 25 years Outlaw Performance of Avonmore, Pennsylvania has been a leading supplier of custom fiberglass bodies, and this spectacular coupe is a testament to just how well they've honed their craft. Purchased as one of their full body and chassis packages, the car benefits from a hand-laminated, 1-piece construction technique that combines an embedded Poplar floorpan with a sturdy, unitized steel structure. Take a look at our high-resolution photos and you'll see that every panel is as flat as Kansas, with a shine that's only found on 6-figure hot rods. That shine comes courtesy of a custom coat of bright red paint. And that impressive paint is sealed under a glossy layer of clear. It's hard to find any well-done classic that doesn't turn heads and inspire stares. But this car, with its excellent stance, sublime paint and well-planned detailing, is guaranteed to be a standout! When you build a stunning, ground-hugging street rod, it doesn't take much to make the car pop. That's why professional customs like this fully sorted coupe feature just enough high quality bolt-ons to create a classy and timeless appearance. At the front of the car, an electronically actuated hood centers a polished shotgun intake above a polished grille and two original-style headlights. Behind that hood, smoked glass rides inside shaved doors and small, billet wipers. Behind that glass, a shaved trunk pops over flush-fit, LED taillights. And overall, the car is a simple, smooth classic that carries the true hallmarks of enduring design. ENGINE One thing you won't have to worry about in this Willys is power. Thanks to a supercharged, 383 cubic inch small block this sleek coupe is more than just some pretty parking lot poseur! At the top of the impressive mill, a pair of 750cfm Quick Fuel Technology 4-barrels mixes air from a polished intake with a steady stream of dinosaurs that's supplied by stainless lines and braided AN hoses. At the base of those carburetors, a polished Dyers 6-71 supercharger rides between polished breathers and polished, "CHEVROLET" branded valve covers. At the back of that blower, an aftermarket distributor shoots spark through proven MSD plug wires, which snake around 10 to 1 pistons, a Comp hydraulic roller cam and Summit Motorsports heads. Cooling is provided by a small aluminum radiator, which is strung in front of large SPAL puller fans. Exhaust travels through coated long-tube headers, which look great next to the block's bright red paint. Charge comes courtesy of a small alternator that, along with an aluminum water pump, spins on an array of billet hardware. And overall, the car displays a first-rate level of workmanship that conveys a high quality, tailored demeanor. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Behind that fire-breathing engine, a Muncie-style 4-speed, built to withstand 800 horsepower, twists torque through a vented 9-inch Currie to big, 4.32 gears. That first class drivetrain is held off the ground by a sturdy Outlaw Performance chassis, which is bathed in the same red hue as the car's smooth body. At the front of that chassis, modern tubular control arms utilize beefy coil-overs and quick rack-and-pinion steering to mix a pleasant ride with vintage feel. At the back of the chassis, a proven 4-link set-up utilizes two more coil-overs to provide drag strip-worthy launches. Serious stops counter the car's serious speed via 4-wheel disc brakes. Exhaust duties are handled by wrapped and squared side-pipes. And keeping all this muscle rolling down the road is a slick set of Weld Racing Draglites, which spin 26x6.00R15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Rs in front of 31x18.00R15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Rs. With its body-matched floors and rugged stainless hardware, this Willys is the real deal. And with ancillaries like an Engine Works starter, a Milodon oil pan, Aeromotive fuel components and a 20-gallon fuel tank, it'll fare well on any pavement you chose to scorch! INTERIOR Pop the car's lightweight doors and you'll reveal a custom-tailored cabin that makes good use of black leather. Modern bucket seats are clean and comfortable. Red-lit Auto Meter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite telemetry illuminates the body-matched dash. A custom, full-length console bridges the gap between carefully upholstered speakers, a traditional Hurst shifter and a remote controlled Kenwood Excelon CD player. Billet door pulls and small accessory switches, no doubt to control power windows and power door locks, detail completely custom side panels. Premium carpet frames billet foot pedals opposite a leather headliner, which frames a polished rearview mirror. The primary controls, a polished, half-wrapped wheel and a polished, tilting column, make it very easy to get very comfortable. And a fully upholstered trunk rounds out a very nice build. Here's your chance to benefit from someone else's hard work. This super cool Willys is a powerful and fun bruiser that combines top-notch craftsmanship with lights out performance. If you're a fan of horsepower, Willys or just going fast and looking good, here's the main ingredient to spice up your summer outings! This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1941 Willys Coupe Frame Off Built Dennis Taylor Coupe 413 V8 576 HP Year: 1941 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Black Mileage: 612 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 413 V8 Interior color: Red Vehicle info Like fashion, the collector car market is cyclical. And, like fashion staples, there are some cars that never go out of style. For instance, you just can't go wrong with a comfortable pair of jeans. Likewise, you'll always be admired when you pull up in a ground-pounding Willys. Back in 1941, at a small automaker that was about to go through its second bankruptcy, no one would have guessed that, 73 years later, we'd think a black and silver Americar is one of the coolest street rods in our showroom. But alas, great design endures. And when great design is mixed with modern technology, it's a sure-fire bet for success! Featuring an impressive roster of components, a supple leather interior and 413 cubic inches of big block V8, this head-turning custom is poised to draw big attention and take home big trophies. It's also completely sorted, scary fast and amazingly comfortable. Forget all that nonsensical talk about boring coupes and trendy roadsters owning the next cruise season, this impressive Willys is your go-to piece for stopping the show! Okay, so it's not really an Americar and, naturally, that paint isn't a traditional single-stage that's going to dull and wash off in four years. Instead, this Willys is a high quality fiberglass tribute that's been prepped, dipped in modern two-stage and finished to a much higher standard than anything that rolled off a pre-war assembly line. The car's lightweight body was supplied by Dennis Taylor Reproductions. And while its shape is ultra-traditional, some new tweaks were added to provide a unique personality. Take a look at our high resolution photos and you'll see that every panel is as flat as Kansas, with a shine that's only found on five-figure hot rods. Custom pinstriping runs along the body's horizontal lines to separate the upper and lower halves of a metallic, two-tone paint scheme. And even though there's no mistaking a Willys, this coupe has an identity all its own thanks to careful workmanship and excellent attention to detail. When you build a stunning, ground-hugging street rod, it doesn't take much to make the car pop. That's why professional customs like this fully sorted coupe feature just enough high quality bolt-ons to create a classy and timeless appearance. At the front of the car, an intricate hood bulges above a polished grille and two original-style headlights. Behind that hood, lightly tinted glass and modern power windows sit between stylish sport mirrors. At the sides of that glass, remote suicide doors hang shaved handles in front of tough aluminum hinges. Behind those doors, a traditional trunk, old school tail lights and an "AMERICAR" branded bumper add a healthy dose of function to some of the best automotive form ever created. And overall, this car is a simple, smooth classic that carries the true hallmarks of enduring design. One thing you won't have to worry about in this Willys is power. Thanks to a big block 402, which has been punched out 11 cubic inches, this 576 horsepower monster is more than just some pretty parking lot poseur! That mill, professionally built by Big Al's Toy Box in Gaylordsville, Connecticut, eats through a pair of coated Edelbrocks, which link under a polished shotgun intake. At the base of those carburetors, a polished and Chevrolet-branded supercharger rides between polished valve covers, Pro Comp aluminum heads and hot MSD 6AL ignition. That ignition jolts an aftermarket distributor that's outfitted with an MSD Blaster coil, Accel High Temp Super Stock cables and heavy duty wire looms. That distributor spins thanks to a high quality Comp roller cam, which rides between a balanced GM crank and proven PRW roller rocker arms. Cooling is provided by a custom PCR radiator, which fronts two electric puller fans and a chrome overflow tank. Exhaust is handled by short headers, which flow to either traditional tail pipes or electronic cut-outs. And charging is provided by a polished alternator that, along with a coated PRW water pump, spins via polished pulleys and polished brackets. Aesthetically, this Willys' clean engine bay is a very impressive showpiece that's basically a sea of first rate hardware; from its chrome breathers and Mr. Gasket Thermocap all the way to its Melling oil pump and braided fluid hoses. And overall, the car displays solid workmanship that conveys a quality, tailored demeanor. Behind that fire-breathing engine, a modified Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed twists torque through a 4,000 RPM stall converter to a Ford 9-inch rear end and big, 3.70 gears. That first class drivetrain is held off the ground by a custom, square-tube chassis, which is bathed in a smooth layer of Satin Black paint. At the front of that chassis, a rugged Heidts suspension, which is equipped with Unisteer rack and pinion steering and adjustable QA1 coil-overs, mixes a pleasant ride with vintage feel. At the back of the chassis, a proven 4-link suspension utilizes two more adjustable QA1s to provide drag strip-worthy launches. Serious stops counter the car's serious speed via power-assisted brakes that wrap GM-style calipers around drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust duties are handled by custom, stainless-tipped pipes that, with the flip of a switch, growl through Flowmaster Hushpower mufflers. And keeping all this muscle rolling down the road is a slick set of Billet Specialties 15s, which spin 205/65 Uniroyal Tiger Paws in front of 31x16.50 Mickey Thompson Sportsmans. With a beefy drivetrain that's been reliably built to be both tough and fun to drive, this '41 Willys is the real deal. And with its clean floors and super impressive hardware, it'll fare well on any pavement you chose to scorch. Pop the car's lightweight doors and you'll reveal a custom-tailored cabin that makes good use of bright red leather. Modern GM buckets are coddled by color-keyed lap belts. Dolphin supplied the classy looking gauges, which are arrayed across a custom-pinstriped dash. A beefy Sunpro Super Tach III aligns itself perfectly between a small fire extinguisher, chrome rearview mirror and B&M ratchet shifter. Billet door handles and small power window switches detail completely custom side panels. The primary controls, a chrome Grant wheel, billet pedals and a tilting Ididit steering column, make it very easy to get very comfortable. And a fully upholstered trunk rounds out a very nice build. The sale of this impressive street rod includes engine specs and a dyno sheet. The Willys is an icon, no doubt about that. And this tailored Americar puts a unique spin on a very familiar face. The car's workmanship is impressive, and I can't imagine what it would cost to build something like this from the ground up. If you're looking for a fully-sorted bruiser that's blindingly fast and aesthetically exhilarating, come in and claim your next hot rod! But how many of those customs actually have a perfect combination of proven dependability and jaw-dropping curb appeal that'll provide years of happy ownership? I mean, you can always go out and find some pieced together beater that was built by the president of the local Jesse James fan club. Or you can walk into our showroom and fire up this slick 2005 P.B. Choppers Hardlife, which features a proven S&S V-twin, a modern 6-speed, stunning House of Kolor paint and a roster of accessories that were planned, placed and assembled by a credible, professional builder. With its exceptional attention to detail and great fit and finish, this super clean two wheeler provides the kind of comfort and ease of ownership that's only available from one of America's premier motorcycle artists. And if you're one of the many riders who likes to spend more time enjoying your bike than working on it, it's the fully-sorted custom of your dreams! With so many motorcycle shops to choose from, finding the right one can be a real challenge. But if the quality of this hard tail is any indicator, P.B. Choppers out of Moravia, Iowa is an all-star amongst home run hitters. Their clientele includes names like Roger Penske, Rusty Wallace and Bruton Smith guys who know good fabrication work when they see it. And, with that in mind, the crew's clean welds certainly aren't the only thing that catches your eye. This Hardlife's sculpted PBC tank and fenders showcase a slick coat of House of Kolor Black Cherry two-stage that demands serious attention. That timeless pigment is executed across clean, modern lines which provide a sophisticated, world class appearance. And that sophisticated appearance lends perfect credence to the saying 'custom choppers are the street rods of the motorcycle world'. Chock full of carefully spec'd components that promote higher levels of performance and significantly increase its all-important 'WOW' factor, this gnarly two wheeler is built with the same no-expense-spared, best-of-everything approach that's the cornerstone of all great 'custom Harley' projects. At the front of the bike, a Perse Performance fork hangs a fantastic Arlen Ness headlight above a polished, 21-inch Xtreme Machine wheel and MH90-21 Avon Venom-X tire. At the side of that wheel, a high quality Hawg Halters brake system squeezes a polished, dual-piston caliper around a giant, drilled rotor. Above that caliper, chrome PBC handle bars hang stylish Paul Yaffe Originals mirrors in front of slick Arlen Ness hand controls. Behind those controls, the bike's smooth, hard tail frame cradles a highly detailed S&S V-twin that mixes a polished casing with a classic, instantly recognizable sound. At the back of that engine, an Independent outer primary hangs a full set of Independent pegs in front of a ProFab Metal Werks tail light. Above that tail light, a sinuous fuel tank anchors a wide PBC seat in front of a bobbed rear fender. And below that fender, a second Hawg Halter disc hovers next to a 300/35R18 Avon Venom R that spins around a second Xtreme Machine wheel. The heart of this awesome creation is a 96 cubic inch S&S V-twin that utilizes Crane Hi-4 ignition, CNC-ported heads, forged rocker arms, a full set of stainless valves and forged flat top pistons to create gobs of reliable power. Founded in 1958, S&S Cycles is one of the biggest and most trusted motorcycle motivators in the world, and this chopper's fully sorted mill performs every bit as good as it looks! At the top of the highly polished block, a stylish PBC coil cover splits the difference between traditional chrome rocker boxes. On the right side of the frame, a familiar S&S Shorty slurps wind through a custom Arlen Ness air cleaner. Below that carb, chrome rod covers lead the eye to polished Grumpy's Customs pipes, a compact Independent oil tank and a standard S&S cam cover. That top notch hardware rolls on a rigid PBC hard tail frame, which mixes a 6-inch stretch with a 40 degree rake. And the V-twin's power flows through a show-polished Baker 6-speed that provides solid shifts and reliable cruising. Eventually dubbed "Black Cherry" because of its stunning paint, this striking chopper has big fans in all the right places. Not only did the bike place 2nd at the 2005 World Class Legends Top 50 Invitational, it also scored a record 8-page cover spread in the December, 2006 edition of In The Wind Magazine. Naturally, our sale includes a small backstory and an official specs page. There's a definite difference between even the nicest homemade two-wheelers and a well-planned custom like this sublime Hardlife. There's simply NO WAY to build a bike like this for anywhere near our asking price, and every piece of this chopper fuels awesome curb appeal and amazing street prowess. If you're looking for a killer steed that's fully sorted and ready to enjoy, saddle up at RK Motors Charlotte! [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1941 Willys Coupe Frame Off Built Willys Coupe Supercharged Dual Quad 502 Year: 1941 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Blue Mileage: 248 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 502 V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle info Shy of a '32 Ford, few cars can claim the hot-rodding history of the 1941-1942 Willys. It's a car so popular that, even today, the competition to create the World's Wildest Willys continues. Visually, this 1941 coupe is a contender for that title. Its radiant color, ground-pounding stance, and utterly massive wheels give it the proportions of a Hot Wheels car while the powertrain, lead by a blown 502ci V8, makes sure performance is every bit as impressive. Factor in the amenity-filled leather interior and it becomes clear that this coupe is the total package. Completed in 2012 and driven only 190 miles since, this is a trophy case waiting to happen - all it needs is someone to show it. If this sounds like a job you'd like to fill, take a minute to get the details on this sharp 1941 Willys. For over 25 years, Outlaw Performance in Avonmore, Pennsylvania has been a leading supplier of custom fiberglass bodies and this spectacular coupe is a testament to just how well they've honed their craft. Purchased as one of their full body and chassis packages, the car benefits from a hand-laminated, one piece construction technique which combines an embedded Poplar floor pan with a sturdy, unitized steel structure. The outermost layer has been shot with a radiant coat of Candy Blue Metallic from the House of Kolors line. In a world of red, yellow, and orange Willys, blue is a strong choice and one that, when placed in direct sunlight, will make a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to see the car. The impressive paintwork is accented by hand-painted black, gray, and white pinstripes that form a grid pattern just behind the doors. When the subject is a bright-blue ground-hugging Willys, it doesn't take much ornamentation to make the car pop; so what you'll find are just enough high-quality pieces to finish the car without weighing down the classic design. The front view consists of a bright stainless grille that sits between a pair of round headlights in bright chrome bezels. The greenhouse offers new tinted glass and weather-stripping while sleek painted mirrors cap off the A-pillars. Thanks to shaved door handles, a distinct lack of brightwork or badges, the side profile presents as an ultra-clean look that works perfectly with the paintwork. The rear view begins with the classic split rear widow mounted above a smoothed decklid with no visible hardware. A pair of small round taillights in chrome bezels provide all the lighting needed while, below, a hideaway license plate frame keeps things legal. It just wouldn't be a modern Willys build without a big block bulging through the hood. This coupe delivers on that front with a blown 502ci V8 fully dressed for show. The foundation is a GM Performance crate engine dressed in orange and topped with a small mountain of go-fast goodies. Cast iron heads sit to the sides of a polished Weiand 6-71 supercharger topped with dual Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors and a chrome shotgun intake. Real estate is limited at the front of the engine, but the accessory drive still manages to turn an aluminum water pump and chrome alternator via polished pulleys. The big block keeps its cool thanks to a four-core aluminum radiator that's aided by dual electric cooling fans. Turn the key and a Summit Hi-Fire HEI ignition transmits spark through bright Accel wires. Spent gases exit through ceramic coated shorty headers that flow into a stainless dual exhaust system rounded out by Borla mufflers. Other notable items include the mini-starter, aluminum fuel cell, and electric fuel pump. Sure, it's a great looking bay but don't mistake it for a show piece. This is the real deal. Take a look under this Willys to find a chassis fully prepared to utilize big block power. Things get started with an Outlaw 2x4 box tube chassis which has been outfitted with a Heidts Mustang II front clip. Suspension consists of tubular A-arms, a Competition Engineering adjustable 4-link, and adjustable coilovers all around. In the center of that modern hardware, a tried and true TH400 3-speed automatic transmission handles shifting duties. A finned chrome transmission pan and converter cover have been added for looks while an electric cooling fan keeps temperatures in spec. Power meets the ground through a cast aluminum Currie 9-inch center section stocked with posi and 4.10 gears. A manual rack and pinion keeps steering direct while the power-assisted brakes utilize slotted and drilled rotors, four-piston Wilwood calipers, and steel braided lines all around. A huge part of the car's visual appeal comes from the unique wheel and tire package which consists of 18 and 20-inch Mickey Thompson HR-1 wheels wrapped in 26x8.00R18LT tires up front and massive 33x22.00R20LT rears. If the numbers aren't clear, those back wheels are 16 inches wide. Wow. At first glace, the interior presents itself as a fairly straightforward affair but that first impression is deceiving. Work starts at the ground level where polished door sill plates anchor fresh black carpet. Seating is provided by a pair of Procar bucket seats wrapped in black Ultraleather while the door panels are finished to match with tasteful stainless steel inserts in the center. A custom center console makes room for the pistol-gripped Procomp Street Bandit shifter as well as controls for the fuel pump and electric fans. There's no lack of entertainment here either. A Pioneer AM/FM/CD/DVD head unit with a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, and integrated navigation has also been fitted into the console. Hop into the driver seat to admire the gauge layout filled with crisp black, blue, and aluminum Stewart Warner gauges that monitor all the usual engine vitals. Control over the front wheels comes courtesy of a leather-wrapped, three-spoke billet steering wheel that tops a polished tilt column while chrome-trimmed pedals make sure all the details are in place. The trunk is finished in matching black carpet that does a good job of concealing the fuel tank and wheel tubs below. As mentioned, the car was completed in 2012 so everything you see is fresh. If there are questions about any of the components used, the stack of build receipts and component manuals included in the sale offers all of the answers at a glance. With its Candy Blue Metallic paint, ultra-low ride height, massive wheels, and polished shotgun intake on display, this car is a visual one-two punch sure to gain fans at any event it enters. Best of all, it backs those looks up with a serious powertrain ready to rumble at the turn of a key. If you've been entertaining the idea of building a Willys, save yourself a calendar year and take home this killer coupe today! While it remains a classic look, the next wave seems to have arrived in the form of super modern Willys builds like this jaw dropping '41 bolted together by the talented crew at Kenny Davis Hot Rods. Featuring a Jim Oddy-built 555 big block V8, immaculate body and paint work and an interior that will make most late model luxury cars feel wholly inadequate, this build has already received plenty of attention, including a feature in Super Rod Magazine. If you're in the market for a fully capable modern street rod guaranteed to attract a crowd every time it sits still, settle in and learn a bit more about this incredible '41 Willys. BODYWORK/TRIM If this example is any indication, the crew at Kenny Davis Hot Rods certainly know how to get the best out of a Willys. Starting with an Outlaw fiberglass shell, the hood was first lowered and narrowed approximately two inches. Though a subtle modification, it does a great job accentuating the cars raked stance. All body seams were also smoothed for a sleek refined look. Panel fitment is excellent with even gaps all around. The overall build quality is notable throughout with a hood, trunk lid and doors that open smoothly and shut effortlessly. With the fiberglass body as straight as humanly possible, it was then topped with a union of House of Kolor Sunset Pearl and Cinnamon Pearl. Dividing those colors is a custom graphic that does a convincing job replicating the texture of brushed aluminum. The paintwork is brilliant and rich, reflecting the countless hours invested in making it look that way. While trim remains minimal, every piece is well chosen and executed on the highest level. Up front, a small chrome grille with vertical bars is centered underneath the pointe of the hood. Behind that grille, amber turn signals remain functional but out of sight. At either side, Mini Cooper headlights are seamlessly integrated into the Willys' bulging front fenders. As a nice-weather-only type of vehicle, there are no windshield wipers present to break up the flow of the front end. There are, however, small rear view mirrors that provide an adequate amount of rear visibility for normal road conditions. At the sides, door handles have been scrapped in favor of a cleaner look. All glass is show quality with a light layer of tiny gracing the side windows and signature split rear window. Out back, the sloping rear leads to a chrome license plate bracket with a thin chrome strip on either side leading to the small round taillights. Visually, this Willys is a show stopper from every angle. ENGINE Somewhere along the line, street rodding deities handed down a decree that all Willys must have the largest engines their builders can find. This sleek coupe follows those orders well with nothing less than a 555 cubic inch V8 built by Pro Modified legend Jim Oddy planted in the sub frame. Under the custom body color air cleaner cover, a FAST fuel injection system sends juice through body color Edelbrock intake manifold into ported aluminum heads dressed in hand built aluminum valve covers. Up front, a Meziere billet water pump, polished alternator, billet crank pulley and air conditioning compressor with a billet pulley hide function beneath form. The core of this mill is a Dart block fitted with Eagle rods, JE pistons, and a 0.720 lift Comp camshaft. Ignited by a MSD Pro-Billet distributor and 6AL ignition system, the car fires immediately, idles well and sounds capable of sending the average big block home with a bloody nose. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Backing that thunderous big block is a Jerry Lovell-built TH400 automatic transmission governed by a 3,200 stall converter and Derale Cooling Products HeatSink cooler. From there, power is sent to the wheels through a smoothed and painted Ford 9-inch rear end. The drivetrain's surroundings are impressive with painted, polished and fully detailed pieces around every corner. Spent gases float through large-diameter pipes, which center polished Magnaflow mufflers between an H-shaped crossover, 2.5-inch Jim Duggan headers and chrome-tipped, side-exit pipes. The front end is supported by a body color Heidts subframe which hosts polished double A-arms and manual rack-and-pinion steering. Out back, a polished, adjustable 4-link keeps the rear end planted. This Willys' aggressive stance comes courtesy of adjustable coil-overs installed in all four corners. When it comes time to reign in that 555, four-wheel disc brakes by Wilwood get the job done effortlessly. At the corners, Budnik wheels in sizes 18"x7.5" and 20"x13" fill the wheel wells perfectly with the help of Michelin rubber. INTERIOR Behind the shaved doors, a thoughtfully customized interior features the kind of quality usually reserved for high end luxury cars. Seating is provided by a pair of bucket seats covered in caramel-colored Ultraleather. Between them, a full-length console flows from the custom dash to beneath the rear window. Housing a B&M shifter and switches for the power windows, the console does a great job at anchoring the rich interior. At either side, the door panels feature an upward sweeping design covered in a mixture of caramel Ultraleather and flattened orange suede. Slick billet door handles fit the design perfectly, once again concealing function within form. From the driver's seat, a Billet Specialties steering wheel wrapped in matching leather sits atop a polished tilt steering column. Behind the wheel, a set of silver-faced Classic Instruments gauges keep tabs on voltage, oil pressure, speed, revs, fuel and temperature. In the center, an Eclipse head unit sends signal to speakers throughout the cabin including a 10" Diamond Audio subwoofer housed in a custom enclosure in the neatly finished trunk. Rounding out the interior is a rich suede headliner that matches the door panel inserts perfectly. And, like fashion staples, there are some cars that never go out of style. For instance, you just can't go wrong with a comfortable pair of jeans. Likewise, you'll always be admired when you pull up in a ground-pounding Willys. Back in 1941, at a small automaker that was about to go through its second bankruptcy, no one would have guessed that, 71 years later, we'd think a striking silver Americar is one of the coolest street rods we've ever seen. But alas, great design endures. And when great design is mixed with modern technology, it's a sure-fire bet for success! Featuring an impressive roster of components, a supple leather interior and a 502 cubic inch big block V8, this head-turning custom is poised to draw big attention and take home very big trophies. It's also completely sorted, scary fast and amazingly comfortable. Forget all that nonsensical talk about boring coupes and trendy roadsters owning the next cruise season, this first class Willys is your go-to piece for stopping the show! For over 25 years Outlaw Performance of Avonmore, Pennsylvania has been a leading supplier of custom fiberglass bodies, and this spectacular coupe is a testament to just how well they've honed their craft. Purchased as one of their full body and chassis packages, the car benefits from a hand-laminated, one piece construction technique that combines an embedded Poplar floorpan with a sturdy, unitized steel structure. Take a look at our high resolution photos and you'll see that every panel is as flat as Kansas, with a shine that's only found on six-figure hot rods. That shine comes courtesy of a radiant coat of House of Kolor Mercedes Silver candy. And that impressive paint is accented by a dynamic array of Wade Hughes' reverse flames. It's hard to find any well-done street rod that doesn't turn heads and inspire stares. But this car, with its excellent stance, sublime paint and well-planned detailing, makes most custom builds seem amateur and second-rate. When you build a stunning, ground-hugging Willys, it doesn't take much to make the car pop. That's why professional customs like this fully sorted Outlaw feature just enough high quality bolt-ons to create a classy and timeless appearance. At the front of the car, a contoured hood rides above a polished grille and two original-style headlights. Behind that hood, lightly smoked glass and remote power windows sit between stylish, polished mirrors. At the sides of that glass, remote doors hang shaved handles behind tough aluminum hinges. Behind those doors, a remote trunk, custom tail lights and retractable license plate add a healthy dose of function to some of the best automotive form ever created. And overall, this coupe is simple, smooth and classic, carrying the true hallmarks of enduring design. One thing you won't have to worry about in this Willys is power. Thanks to a 502 cubic inch V8 that's been balanced and blueprinted to 502 horsepower, this sleek street rod is more than just a pretty parking lot poseur! At the top of the world class mill, a chrome carburetor mixes air from a polished cleaner with a steady stream of high octane dinosaurs that travels through polished lines and a polished canister filter. At the base of that carburetor, a chromed intake rides between familiar aluminum heads that anchor polished valve covers under a combination of polished and chromed breathers. At the back of those heads, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor sequences fire through loomed Taylor plug wires. Cooling is provided by a coated water pump, which is aligned behind an electric puller fan, a triple-pass radiator, a chrome corrugated hose and an electric pusher fan. And exhaust is handled by a pair of ceramic coated block huggers, which look great next to the motor's bright red skin. Naturally, this Willys clean engine bay is a sea of first rate hardware, from its chrome mini starter and braided coolant lines all the way to its polished accessory drive and Willys branded cowl. And overall, the car displays a first-rate level of workmanship that conveys a quality, tailored demeanor. Behind that professionally built engine, a modern 700R4 4-speed twists torque through a 2,800 RPM stall converter to a Strange FAB9 and big, 3.73 gears. That first class drivetrain is held off the ground by a custom, square-tube chassis, which is bathed in a smooth layer of Mercedes Silver paint. At the front of that chassis, a polished Heidts suspension, which is equipped with modern rack and pinion steering and individually controlled air shocks, mixes pleasant rides with vintage feel. At the back of the chassis, a polished 4-link suspension utilizes two more individually controlled air shocks to provide drag strip worthy launches. Serious stops counter the car's serious speed via a power-assisted Wilwood set up that wraps polished calipers around drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust duties are handled by 3-inch, Jet-Hot coated pipes that growl through polished Borla mufflers. And keeping all this muscle rolling down the road is a slick set of polished Budnik Gassers which spin 25x7.50R15 Hoosier Pro Streets in front of 31x16.50R17 Hoosier Pro Streets. With a beefy drivetrain that's been reliably built to be both tough and fun to drive, this '41 Willys is the real deal. And with its clean floors and super impressive hardware, it'll fare well at any show you chose to attend! Pop the car's lightweight doors and you'll reveal a custom-tailored cabin that was installed by Shannon Walters of Interiors by Shannon. Featuring a stylish combination of glossy paint and supple leather hides, it's the kind of space you just won't want to leave. Traditional bucket seats are coddled by color-keyed belts. Auto Meter supplied the sporty looking gauges, which are arrayed across a red and silver dash. A custom console hangs a Vintage Air climate system in front of a Lokar shifter, power window switches and controls for the aforementioned air ride. Billet door handles detail completely custom side panels. The primary controls, a polished and wrapped wheel, billet pedals and a painted tilt steering column, make it very easy to get very comfortable. A shaved and upholstered trunk saves a little space for car show essentials. And items like hidden speakers, a billet mirror and a remote controlled JVC head unit round out a very nice build. The sale of this classy custom includes receipts, show pictures, a copy of the car's feature in the 2012 Goodguys yearbook, and two pictures posed with former owner Paul Teutul Sr. The Willys is an icon, no doubt about that. And this fully sorted Americar puts a highly unique spin on a very familiar face. The car's workmanship is outstanding, and I can't imagine what it would cost to build something like this from the ground up. If you're looking for a fully-sorted bruiser that's blindingly fast and aesthetically exhilarating, come in and claim your next hot rod! Fully engineered to be a joy to drive, it's also finished to show standards and filled with some pretty serious hardware built by some of the biggest names in the business. This cool coupe is the real deal! Finished in bright 1969 Camaro Garnet Red, the smooth, clean lines of the Willys are easy to love. No graphics, no outrageous hood scoops, no pro-street treatment, just a super tidy body that doesn't need a lot of custom stuff to look fantastic. The paint is show quality and it's been laid down over some of the best-prepped bodywork we've ever seen. Super tight and even gaps, smooth, distortion-free panels, and a deep shine are what initially gets your attention, not all the add-ons. There's a traditional Willys "electric shaver" grille, and gorgeous teardrop headlights, but our favorite detail is the crease that starts almost at the tip of the hood and reaches back to the crown of the rear fenders, adding tension to the whole car, as if the bodywork were stretched as tightly as possible over the mechanicals within. Twin rear windows are an Americar trademark, and with shaved bumpers, 1950 Pontiac taillights, and stock chrome handles, the car looks exactly right. The interior was crafted with driving in mind, which also means it's user-friendly and easy to get in and out. The bucket seats look to be from an early Mustang, and they're a great clean alternative to the overstuffed leather chairs you see in so many modern rods. As you'd expect from a car at this level, everything is brand new or restored, and fits together superbly. Custom door panels match the seats and the carpets are expertly trimmed so there are no wrinkles or bare spots. A 3-spoke steering wheel has a suitably vintage look, a look accentuated by the tall Lokar shifter and clean Omega Kustom gauges. It shows just 58 miles since the build was completed, so everything should be new, new, new! It also offers features like A/C, power windows, and a tilt steering column, so you'll find that it's easy to drive anywhere, anytime. It's even got a nicely upholstered trunk that's deep enough to handle a week's worth of luggage for two, which you don't often find in the big wheel pro-street Willys coupes. Any questions about this car's build quality disappear when you see what's under the skin. The builder had access to a Charlotte area NASCAR fabrication shop, and it shows. The 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 was built to be streetable, and has an old-school look thanks to an Allen Johnson Speed Shop air cleaner and trick old-school 2-piece valve covers, designed to allow valve adjustments on a running engine. It was tuned by Spenny Clendenen, the same guy who made sure Dale Earnhardt's engines were ready to rock every Sunday, and with 400 horsepower on tap, it's bloody quick. A built TH350 3-speed automatic feeds power to a custom-built Ford 9-inch with 3.18 gears on a Detroit Locker differential. A tubular A-arm front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, and coil-over shocks, give it the ride and handling of a modern car, while the 4-link out back means there's no squirrely feeling. Those coil-over shocks all around also allow fine-tuning of the ride height, although we think the stance is absolutely perfect as-is. Big 4-wheel disc brakes are effective and live behind some retro-looking wheels, gasser-style skinnies up front and wide old-school 5-window hoops in back, all wrapped in BFG rubber. You've seen all the other Willys coupes out there and they all claim to be different. Well, this one really is different and in this case, different also means better. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. Comprised of ASE certified mechanics, including several Master Technicians, you can feel confident that your car is in capable hands. As fellow enthusiasts, they are passionate about cars and will treat yours with the respect it deserves. 2016 Triumph Thruxton Thruxton the Thruxton is born of the caf? racer culture that dominated motorcycling in the 1960s. To this day we? ve kept many of these styling cues for the modern Thruxton. And just like those caf? racers of the 60's the modern Thruxton is Bonneville based but nowadays our engineers have made sure it rides like a modern Triumph twin. Used to race from one caf? to another they featured extensive modifications such as dropped bars single seats and upswept exhausts. So it? s dependable enough for everyday use easy and fun to ride yet still evokes the classic caf? racer look.
