So I purchased this bike in an estate sale with other bikes and parts. The sellers told me that their father bought the bike in the late 1980s and built the bike through the 90s but was an ongoing project. We installed a new battery and put fresh fuel in it and It fired up but bogged/died at idle. So after cleaning all 6 carbs It runs and idles now but needs tuning (carbs synced). The exhaust note is extremely loud (and unique) with these short pipes! The bike rides good but I didn't want to be too aggressive without the carbs tuned correctly. The frame is custom and has had all the welds smoothed out. Due to this there are no stamped numbers on the neck, just the vin plate and a custom plate that have been stuck on with double backed tape. I have a clean CA title issued in 1990 on hand but it has fallen out of the CA dmv system. The bikes vin # on the tag, motor # and plate # all match the title. I do not know the original miles on the bike, there is a odo in the box of spare parts that has 16k miles but I have no way of knowing if that's the original. Also including a set of longer pipes with brackets that are unfinished. Please review the pictures, they say more than I can. The bike has had a lot of time put into it. I have a Museum Quality 1982 CBX (never restored or redone) The bike is perfect cosmetically and mechanically. Drive any where, needs nothing, a true collectors motorcycle. Has 11,950 miles but looks like 1,000 miles. Original owner from upper Wisconsin had stored this CBX inside his family room all these years!!!!! So this has no oxidation of gauges, scratches, all chrome is flawless !!! just amazing condition. It really looks like a new bike. The original owner was a single guy that was a Honda certified mechanic at a Honda Dealership that bought this new and stored it and kept it to be a future collector bike. So mechanically this CBX is dialed in perfect from him!! He even kept the original battery fluid container from honda when new. He took the original exhaust pipes off at 500 miles and saved them (saved the original bolts too) For a couple of years I have seen and searched for the perfect CBX's, I have seen many CBX's all over the country with very low miles (some with 2k,5k or 7k miles) before purchasing this CBX and none compared to this one. All of them were not stored in a climate controlled environment and have pitting, oxidation, dents, scratches or chips even with very low milage, they were not mint. I purchased this CBX last fall from the original owner. It is totally original and in mint condition as the original owner stated in his ad. Since I purchased the bike, I have replaced the original tires, installed new fork seals and added a NOS clock and NOS temperature gauge. I'm 65yrs old, 5ft 9in and the bike is just too big/heavy for me to ride safely, so unfortunately I must sell it.Instead of writing a new ad I'm going to include the original owners description from last fall. "Offered for sale here is one of the nicest, all original 1982 Honda CBX around. This is a one owner bike (me), with 2186 actual miles. All original and unrestored. I purchased this bike in 1985 brand new, rode it to my current house and have had it here ever since. It's always been covered and garaged, never been in the rain. I never rode it much (I rode enduros for 15 years, but wasn't much of road rider). I'm a retired mechanical engineer and have always kept it in tip top condition. In recent years only rode it 10 or so miles a year to keep everything in working order. No rust on the exhaust or in the tank. Seat is original an flawless. It was always wintered with stabilizer in a fresh tank of gas, then the gas drained a replaced in the spring before being run. It's had a few oil changes and oil filters and a few batteries and that's about it.The brake fluid was replaced with silicon fluid once and the plugs were replaced with Iridium plugs a few years ago.The original plugs will be included with the sale.The tires are original and have most of the tread remaining but show a little cracking from age; so the new owner will probably want to replace the tires before any serious riding is done.The title is clean and the original tool kit, air pressure gage and manual are included. The bike is not brand new, of course, but is almost as close to new as you will find. I would think this bike is museum quality and would be a treasured item in any collection. It is difficult for me to part with it but there comes a time when one must let it go. Whoever buys this bike will get a chance to experience one of the finest sport bikes ever designed; truly an engineering achievement - strong running, marvelously smooth and wonderful sounding." Honda 1979 CBX 1000 Frame with a Title After Years of Holding on to and Hours of Research, I decided to sell it.  Has Title signed by last owner and is legit. This is the 1979 Honda CBX 1000  Frame.  Has Scratches and scuffs and was mostly wrapped for the 4 years I had it. I unwrapped it for picture Day. This Frame is AS-IS and for restoration. This will cost tons to ship so make sure you do you home work like I did.  The VIN is clear to see in the pictures for you to do your homework. To my best knowledge, this frame is in good shape and was given to me by a person who was going to restore it and fell ill.  The title in the pictures and the numbers on bike do not match up. BUT, it is a good title for a '79 cbx 1000 signed. I have proof of registration of this frame with the numbers on the bike (seen in lower part of title picture). Original owners were going to build a new bike out of 2 frames and this is the title they gave me. It is up to you what you do with it. I make no other claims about this frame except, it is what it is and I made sure I double checked for accuracy. Mileage is unknown. (999) is just a number not a mileage I have checked into shipping and there are a few ways it can ship. I checked  with Freight companies and I have measured it on a pallet. It fits a 40" x 48" standard pallet on its side. The frame is 41" Tall and 38" long  and 15" wide. (Sitting standing up with nose in the air).  Pallet weighed 34 lbs and the frame weighed 38 lbs.  I will negotiate price if being picked up or for shipping. Pick up at my location is ok. For sale, my 1979 HONDA CBX which was once my weekend rider. But like always, we move on to other bikes. And as is the case, some bikes sit in the corner covered up. Such is the case with this bike. Always a head turner wherever she went, always fun to ride even tho the handling of a 70's bike is nothing to brag about, but fun to be on. Not a stock bike due to paint, recovered seat and things like progressive rear shocks, stage 3 jet kit, painted header pipes and some little touches hear and there, but not too flat from stock that real motorcyclists recognize it. IT'S CONDITION IS NOT PERFECT, AS THE CARBS &FRONT BRAKES NEED ATTENTION. The bike starts and runs well, with a few burps here and there, but it won't idle and a couple of the floats were stuck when I started it up tonight. The front brakes don't fully release at the beginning of the riding season ( always the case since I have owned it ). No, I am not the original owner. The brakes I have always put up with. But, I am not a professional mechanic and I think it would be worth getting things done right. It's a fine example af a 1979 bike and a little TLC could go a long way. There are some nicks, scratches and such and I have done my best to photograph each one. Please study the photos and ask questions. Thanks for looking.

Bike has been sitting and will need the typical fluids changed and brakes bled. Put a good battery in it (not included) and it spins over great. Bottle fed some fuel to it and it started and ran. Went thru all the gears. Carbs will need going thru as they were leaking from non-use. Paint is original and shines very well. Corbin seat. Inside of tank is black from old fuel but will clean quite well as there is almost no signs of rust. MISSING ITEMS: Headlight and bucket, both side covers and turn signals. There are just a few wires up front that do not have factory ends, they were cut... I have clear title and key.
