Beautiful second owner Honda Gold Wing GL1500 Special Edition with only 38k miles. This bike runs and drives great. There are a few scratches and chips that is expected for a bike this age. All 1995 models got commemorative emblems, cosmetic changes, a thinner and narrower seat and suspension improvements which reduced ground clearance, contributing to an even lower seat height...Finally, the 1995 model year saw some real change. On the surface, new 20th. Anniversary badges, a new chrome screen garnish, slimmer side panels to make it easier for the short legged to get their feet down and some other styling refinements looked like not a lot had changed. But under the surface Honda had managed to make the suspension both lower and stiffer and this improved the handling no end. Also, with some foam shaved from the saddle, the SE and Aspencade were now 40mm lower than before, which made them the same height as the Interstate. Quote from 1500 buyers guide "Gearboxes are quite reliable although the gearchange can be clunky, especially the 3rd-4th change, almost unforgivable on a machine that costs as much as a nice sized car. If the 1500 you are testing hops out of 4th gear, don't automatically assume the problem is only a dodgy selector. There were improvements in 1994. The early 88-89 models as well have way more issues then the later models namely carbs_They are trouble prone and most who have these end up junking them to move to later models which can be hard to retrofit. As well all the 88-89 carbs parts are obsolete...BUYERS GUIDE INFO_The twin carbs on early models can need balancing at as low as every 5,000 miles or you will experience a huge flat spot, later models can go 20,000 between balancing. It is worth looking down into the carburetor bodies when changing the air filter, the sliders are plastic and some corrosion from the body scratches the plastic, causing the sliders to stick. A finger of grease spread as best as you can fixes the problem for a while. The early (88-89) models had to have the carbs overhauled by Honda dealers because of flat spot & sudden surging problems.
