It's a super clean bike for the year and age, starts up first kick, doesn't smoke or leak any oil, has new chain and sprockets, almost new tires, engine has a lot of power and torque, transmission shifts smoothly and clutch engages as it should. The bike is in very good condition, plastic has a few scratches but no cracks. Only selling to buy a smaller street bike, this bike is too much for me to handle. Selling my nice, old 86 XL600R. It has been a great bike for me but I decided to upgrade to a newer XR650L. I rode it all last summer... on the roads and on the trails. It even handled some single track stuff nicely. As you can clearly see it has been repainted. This was done by the previous owner. From what I can tell, the tank, exhaust, motor, and possible the side covers have been painted or touched up. It never bothered me, but I will include an original tank and the used, original blue seat cover if you want to restore it to stock. I pulled it out of the shed tonight and it started on the first kick! That is after a 5 month hibernation here in MN. The carbs were drained and the tank filled with stabilized gas, so I guess the winterization effort paid off. And it ran strong during a short test ride. It popped a little as I would let off the throttle to shift. It did that a bit early last year too, but it went away once I was riding it more frequently. It doesn't smoke or leak. It is ready to go... all the electricals work and the battery (stored inside) is fully charged and relatively new. The tires are a fairly aggressive tread, but were surprisingly good on the pavement too. Lots of miles left in them. It has current MN tabs through Feb 2016 and the MN DNR trail sticker though Dec 2016. And it has a clear MN title in my name. Everyone needs a nice thumper in their stable of bikes! Ride it as is! Restore it to like new! Or turn it into a sweet cafe race or street tracker! And now for all the other stuff... Shipping is your responsibility. Buyer pays for all shipping costs. This is a Honda XR600R with a California license plate (PLATED).  Full motorcycle synthetics flush and change every 1000 mi..  Garaged and very clean, stainless steel exhaust header, Mikuni flat slide for improved fuel efficiency and increased performance, oil cooler, Yoshimura exhaust, updated stator to provide small battery charging and digital speedometer.  Ultra-light weight lighting including LED turn signals along with the mirror make this beast street legal.  Original manual, Excel wheels, alarm lock and battery tender. Do you think that anyone at Honda knew? Do you think that when the first XR600R rolled off the assembly line, anyone had an inkling that it would become the definitive off-road bike, not only of a generation, but for two or three generations? Do you think they knew that they had just built a wildly successful race bike as well as general purpose campground cruiser? No, of course not–no more than anyone at Volkswagon knew what would happen to the Beetle. They hoped as much, but they don’t accept advanced reservations in the motorized hall of fame. The Honda XR600R is almost the definition of an off-road bike; the machine most likely to  have its silhouette on a trail sign. That part isn’t surprising, but the bike’s racing resume is.
