I'm selling my Bike. I have owned it since 1981. Clear title. It has 16,578 miles on it and almost all of them are with me. I don't know if the pictures show how clean and well taken care of this bike is. Tags are up in 2015. I am 53, so I've been riding it since I was 20. It is very original as far as parts on it. The horn button is aftermarket. The seat was professionally upholstered many years ago and is in perfect condition and looks original. The bike has never been down or in a wreck and only has some scuff marks on the mirrors(small) from tipping over when parked. The pipe on the left side has some staining in an area below where the battery drain is. This happened many years ago and has been polished as well as possible. The chrome is ok, just an area off color a bit. It's not that noticeable. The tank is in great original condition and only has small chips and wear normal to a bike this old. The plastic pieces are original and also in great shape. Everything works as it should ( with the exception of a running issue I will explain later). All chrome is bright and shiny. I have always loved this bike and taken good care of it. If your looking for a classic style bike that handles better than most other brands of this style, look no further. Fun Fact: The 1980 Kawasaki 440 LTD/ KZ was the fastest production bike on the market under 500 cc's. that year! Over the years I would sometimes park the bike for a year or more. Usually I would drain the carbs and get the bike storage ready so it would be set to go when I wanted to ride. This summer I took it out of a 2 year storage. I hadn't drained the fuel this time, so the fuel in the carbs was old and varnishy. I cleaned the carbs out with carb cleaner and compressed air. I also changed the oil, drained the gas tank and added fresh super. I replaced the front fork seals and outer boots, replaced plugs and points. Flushed front brake fluid and new front disc pads, also a new quality battery. The tires are ok. When I fired the bike up it ran ok, so I started riding it to work. (12 miles round trip). After 2 weeks of trouble free riding the motor stalled out on my way home from work. It sounded like it ran out of fuel (but it didn't). I pushed it home and began trouble shooting. Here's the things I did : Rebuilt carbs with rebuild kits. New coil. New plug wires. New plugs (again). Fresh fuel (again). Set dwell and timing. Tested electric outputs (all normal). The bike started up and ran ok, so I started riding it to work again. (this is last week). Unfortunately the motor hasn't been running up to par and after putting 48 miles on it I have decided I can't figure out whats wrong and I can't afford to put money into it if need be. I want to sell it and save up for a dual purpose bike. The motor runs and the bike can be ridden, but something is causing it to sputter and buck over half throttle. I checked compression and valve action all is normal. No smoke when it runs. I give up. I will include my Clymer mechanic book. It has 369 pages and is essential if your going to work on the bike or need to know a spec etc. It covers this bike from 1974 to 1995. I have 100% good feedback for a reason and you can trust what I say. I will be selling as is and have described the bike and issue as best I can. I cannot allow a return on this. PAY PAL ONLY within 3 days of purchase please. I will ship but it will be the responsibility of the buyer to make arrangements and pay the shipping costs. I will assist on getting the bike to a shipper locally if you need help. I will be selling my bike locally for same price and can stop sale anytime. Good Luck and happy ebaying!
