1954 BMW 500cc DOHC Rennsport Grand Prix Racer A real crowd pleaser!! Very rare and desirable racer with a top speed of 143 mph. Dual overhead race cams per cylinder head, Hubacher cylinders and five speed transmission. This racer sports a four shoe front brake drum, Ceriani telescopic front forks, Del Lorto carburetors, aluminum fuel tank and remanufactured frame. There were only 24 Rennsports produced by the factory along with 24 spare engines. The BMW Rennsport was the world champion in Grand Prix sidecar racing. This motor has number 004 stamped on the case. A new set of piston rings and valve springs were recently installed. NOTE! We do not know the full history of this motorcycle although we make every effort to represent this vehicle as honestly as possible. This is a race bike and has been altered through the years with aftermarket and reproduction components. I lay no claim to it's originality or history.
