My uncle is selling his 1973 Yamaha 250 MX. After 4 years and 2 moves he doesn't have the time or inclination to finish this bike, and he is selling it as is. The engine has a fresh top and bottom end. The tires/tubes are new; Dunlop D739FA front Dunlop 59M rear, bike also has taper bearing triple clamp bearings, new chain, new fork seal/boots, new seat foam/cover, new cables, new levers, new grips, new bars, new air filter, new rear brake shoes, new stainless spokes in rear wheel, and new plastics. As you can see in the picture the boot from the air box to the carb has hardened and shrunk. It also needs a gas tank. He believes that he has a petcock. The bike also comes with the extra parts shown and other parts not shown; old seat foam, misc. engine parts, cables, etc. My uncle can't find the title, so this is just a bike to play or race with, not for driving on the street unless you get it retitled. Some new stuff was added to get it road worthy, listed below. I only put about 30 miles on it after that work then stored it in my home garage under a tarp. The bike has not been started for 8 years. Unfortunately I failed to drain the gas which has turned to varnish. The tank has rust inside top 20% but bottom 80% looks rust free, could not get a picture of that. The odometer shows 22,749 miles but the Title says 27,880. I just noticed that difference and not sure why or how that happened. My friend is dead now so can’t ask him. Most of the chrome has surface rust. It has not rusted through the pipes. The seat is wrinkled looking in the pic because a box had sat on it for years. It will probably smooth out after some time in the sun. The carbs move freely. Bike rolls easily and does not leak oil. Needs new battery. Electric starter worked when the battery was good. The engine kicks over freely and has compression. Front brake hydraulic line needs to be replaced. No cracks, chips, or discoloration at all. Some wear marks where my boots touch and some other minor marks, but nothing significant. This bike has been carefully cared for and maintained, and it shows. All maintenance and service records are documented(stamped) in the service/owner's manual.
