You are looking at a 1929 JDH 2 cam "cut down." (bobber these days). This bike has been a cut down ,I believe, about 80 years. There were only 100 of these Harley-Davidson motorcycles made in 1928 and 29. The 1929 crash and depression was on it's way and these Harleys were about 200 bucks more expensive so they didn't sell well. Better for us, I guess. It has 3 speeds and original rear stand and new chain, sprockets and clutch. A couple sets of points and some rear brake lining goes with this Harley.I got invited to the 2012 Canon ball run but our house caught fire and I had to rebuild it, so couldn't go. My preparation for the canonball was to completely rebuild the transmission which was done by Steve Lipoldt, rebuild the generator, with nos parts, done at Harbor Vintage in Vermont and to get the original coil rewound with, get this, 7500 feet of .0015 wire. New plug wires. These bikes had dual headlights as new but this one only has one with original taillight. It's been painted black & white for a very long time. It has two extra taillights I added to the rear. Can't have too much light back there. It has the rectangular dash, not the triangle dash with ammeter as some had. This 1929 was the second year of the front brake. With these old front brakes the bike went faster when it was pulled ;-). It now has a 1968 BSA double leading shoe front brake that stops great. Both wheels and tires are 400/18" Dunlop K70s (C pic). which handle and ride great. This bike is very nimble handling. The handlebars and spirals are re-manufactured with all new inner and outer cables. The grips are just tape like riders did back then. This machine has been completely rewired. It has switch and fuse on the ground wire for fast shutoff if needed, There is no speedo but there's no more that 600 miles on the motor and only about 100 miles on the other rebuilt items.This Harley is for sale on 3 other sites, Europe. plus locally so this auction may end without notice so if ya want or need a very very rare old museum piece or a daily rider, bid...ah nobody hasta tell ya that. It pains me to write this. This bike is my baby and has given me 20K miles of unbelievable experiences. I am the second owner and the bike now has 43,000 miles. Just recently, I put 120 miles on it through rural Vermont including the Champlain Islands. Unfortunately, I have developed a medical condition which is forcing me to sell it. I have a nerve issue in my thigh that is exacerbated by riding. This was confirmed again on my ride today so I need to stop. My loss is your gain. This particular bike is ready for a long haul trip to Yukon or as a reliable daily commuter. About the modelThe Caponord is a versatile adventure touring bike that is equally competent cruising highways at high speed, carving turns on mountain passes, and riding dirt logging trails. Similar to a BMW GS, the Caponord is more nimble because it is only 1000cc vs 1200cc. The bike has a bombproof Rotax v-twin engine that is rock solid making 98 horsepower with 71.5 ft/lbs of torque into a 6-speed transmission and a chain drive. It has switchable ABS. It is plenty fast and super fun to ride. It has a substantial fairing and handguards so it can be comfortable to ride in cold and rain. About this particular bikeI am the second owner and purchased the bike with 20K on it. It has been serviced regularly by authorized Aprilia dealers and performs as expected. It has never been crashed or laid down. I have had zero mechanical issues with it. It has the stock exhaust and is the desirable black color. I trust this bike to never let me down and have ridden it to the top of Mount Washington NH, Whiteface NY, Bailey Island, and Moosehead Lake, Maine. I took it to Finland when I lived there and did a 1800 mile trip to the top of Norway to Nordkapp, the origin of the Caponord name. Three weekends ago, I took my 76 year old Aunt on a ride to Rangeley, Maine. Needless to say, I have great confidence in the machine and trust it completely. ConditionI have taken great care of this bike and had it serviced regularly through Aprilia Authorized dealers. The 40K mile service was done on 1/22/2015. Tires are class leading Michelin Pilot Road 3 Trail tires, a 90/10 tire that is ultra grippy on tarmac and very good in the wet. They are in good shape and certainly will last through this season. Rear tire was replaced 7/2014 at 37,800mi. Brakes are great. Front and rear rotors and pads were replaced with OE original Brembos 3/2012 at 26,500mi. Pads have been changed since. Chain and cogs are in good shape and were replaced 7/2012 at 29,800 miles. Chain tension and lube are regularly checked. I just had the Vermont state inspection done on 8/26 and it is ready for another year of riding. Cosmetics: this bike is in great shape but it has been ridden and shows signs of use: There are a few minor scratches on the tank, some on the foot brake reservoir, some paint chipping on the clutch reservoir (as expected), some rust on spoke tips, a scratch on the left pannier (see photo), wear on left hand grip, wear on footpeg extensions, and minor wear on each pannier from aggressive cornering. Be sure to check the photos. They came to my house and loaded the bike in a Sprinter van, serviced the bike at the dealership in NH, and then returned it in the Sprinter. This makes owning the Caponord, even without a local dealer, very easy! TransportingI have a trailer and am willing to help with getting the bike to within three hours of Burlington, VT. Also, I live 10 minutes from the Burlington airport (BTV) and am happy to meet you there. Riding in Vermont is wonderful so you could make picking up your bike the start of a Northern New England road tour: Whiteface, NY is 2 hours away. Mount Washington is 2.5 hours. Bar Harbor Maine is 8 hours. Quebec City is 5 hours. Montreal is 2 hours. PricingKBB has this bike at $5015. Mid point of retail for NADA is $5700. 2002 Yamaha Royal Star VENTURE, 2002 Yamaha Royal Star Midnight Venture with 46,940 miles - Nothing for a large 4 cylinder touring bike. This mileage will change as I still ride it. Garage Kept. Was purchased September 6, 2013 with 28941 miles. New Battery was installed at this time. Complete 30K service was done September 20, 2013 at Honda of Knoxville. Frame, sheet metal, wheels, handlebars, tractor seats, exhaust, 750cc engine, 4-speed transmission, the list goes on and on. The story of Ural&Dnepr begins late in 1939. A secret meeting was held in the Defense Ministry of the USSR. The matter under discussion, what model of motorcycles was going to be the most suitable for Soviet Armed Forces. Now despite the fact that planed was peacefully split between two dictators right after the Molotov/von Ribbentrop pact, the Soviet Union, to be more specific Joseph Stalin, know it would soon be going to war with Adolph Hitler, the ruthless dictator of the German Third Reich. Most recent historic research proves that Joseph Stalin being as much a ruthless dictator as Adolph Hitler himself, if not more, was planning on striking the Nazis first, Joseph Stalin ordered the military to prepare all areas of operation, including ground forces. During the same time period there was also, unknown to the majority of the world, tremendous growth in the Soviet Air Force that would enable the Soviet Army to strike the Nazis first with a devastating surprise attack. Having seen the effects of Blitzkrieg (lighting war) against Poland, upgrading of military vehicles was of dominant importance to Joseph Stalin. Official version reads, after long discussion the BMW R71 motorcycle was found the closest match to the specific requirements and five of these motorcycles were secretly acquired in Sweden. Everything about the bike was reverse engineering and in early 1941 the first trial samples of M-72 motorcycles were shown to Marshall Stalin and the decision was made to produce them. Unofficially, and a more likely story is that the BMW factory supplied the construction drawings and casting molds. Transfers in technology had taken place, as a result of the Molotov/Ribbentrop Pact, in support of their soviet friends in different areas. Soviet engineers toured the German aircraft factories and had brought back complete cannons as samples. The OPEL Kadett was given to the Soviets just prior to the war however, it commenced series production only toward the end of the war as the Moskvitch 400. In 1941, BMW began series production the R75, and did not resume production of the R71. After the WWII the Factory was further developed and in 1950 the 30,000th motorcycle was produced. Since then over 3.2 million motorcycles, mainly sidecar outfits have been produced. The history of the URAL had begun with the glory of helping to defeat the terror of Hitler's armies on the Russian and European battlefields. The URAL was built for the military only, up until the late 1950's when another plant in the Ukraine (Kiev Motorcycle Zavod - KMZ) took over that job with same model, but different name - DNEPR and the Irbit Motorcycle Zavod (IMZ) began to concentrate on making bikes for domestic consumption. 2002 Yamaha Royal Star Midnight Venture with 46,940 miles - Nothing for a large 4 cylinder touring bike. This mileage will change as I still ride it. Garage Kept. Was purchased September 6, 2013 with 28941 miles. New Battery was installed at this time. Complete 30K service was done September 20, 2013 at Honda of Knoxville. Another service was done by them on July 16, 2014 to address some issues I was having. Front brake pads were changed at this time and steering head was tightened. Tires are Avon Vipers installed May 21, 2014. I have put 10,900 miles on them. Oil has been changed regularly and with synthetic oil. As far as Dirt bikes Go ...the bigger the bikes displacement is... the less hard the bike has to work (IE) many Enthusiasts feel a 250's engine will last FAR Longer than a 125 !!! ....Also, this bike looks to be in Very Nice Condition (Even her DID style Alloy Wheels LOOK GREAT ! ! ! ! ! ! Most everyone that I have talked to over the years has told me that these YZ 250 YAMAHA VINTAGE Dirt RACING Bikes were one of the very Best & Most advanced bikes of it's day....& based on my experience with these YZ 250cc Bikes ... I would have to add maybe "One of this ERA's Very Best, Most DURABLE & Fastest and Most Versatile Dirt bikes EVER MADE !!!! Many of My Very Best friends & Best Racing Buddies used to have several of these YZ 250s & another friend had a YZ 400s when they first came out He was Big in "The Checkers" Dirt Racing Motorcycle Racing Club....& I can tell you their YZ 250's were FAR Better (100,000,000%) better than my 1974 250 YAMAHA MX & I would have bought a YZ 250 also to but I was just financially unable to swing a Bike that Nice..... This is a Bike that most anyone could Have "BIG FUN" ridding all day long On !Most everyone I have talked with agrees these MONO SHOCK 250 CC YAMAHA YZ's have hands down in this ERA have DURABILITY Always been considered one of the Worlds BEST Dirt / Racing bikes & YAMAHA has Long Been known for their Trouble Free, Reliability. The YAMAHA 250cc YZ with it's Self Tuning REED Valve Induction... Unlike many other dirt bikes are probably one of the Easier to Ride & I think Most Most Rider Friendly 400cc displacement Class Dirt Racing Bikes ever Made !!! & this 1977 YZ 250 is BY FAR one of the Most Evolved Early Successful Dirt Racing Bikes as it has all of the Most sought after Goodies (Self Tuning Reed Valve Inductions system, For the First time Decent "Air Pressured" "Big Travel" Forks & "Pressured" Decent Travel Rear Shock Suspension with its Pressurized & heat treated Aluminum Forks "Super Strong" MONO shock Rear suspension (again..."in 1977 All of this was Dirt Racing "Rocket Science" that Really Worked GREAT " ! ! ! ), Very Simple less hassle far more reliable Air Cooled (These Had a Much better than the later 1980's early water cooled YAMAHA's Etc etc I have heard) (this being one of the last years of these Very Perfected YAMAHA 250 cc ("Air Cooled") engines ( Factory Tuned MX style Race Factory YAMAHA TUNED EXPANSION Chamber style) Tuned Exhaust Pipe , Original Factory Big Radial style Cooling HEAD & All of this Yet She is still nice and (relatively) fairly low to the Ground ( Lower Center of Gravity makes this bike Far More Stable less Scary for Newer Riders) and because of her fairly Low height She will even fit in right into my Chevy Astro Mini Van even with the vans center seat still in place !!!! How many 400 CC Off Road DIRT RACING bikes can do that ! This Baby Typically Starts Quick & EASY ! This Has her original YAMAHA Factory seat that was Completely rebuilt from the frame up by my Custom Car Upholstery Shop & she also has her Original YAMAHA Headlight Front fenders & left side panel, Her Original Gas tank has been Newly refinished & Painted as are the Front & Right & Left side panels and Both Front & Fenders. YES ! the gas tank Graphics have been replaced with what looks to be ORIGINAL New Old Stock 77-79 YZ Graphics that help make this bike look new ! The inside of her tank looks GREAT. She has her Original foot Pegs, shifter, She has Nice NEW Handlebar Grips & Handlebars ! brake & clutch levers etc etc are still in Very Nice Condition ! The Shifter and Brake levers also Look Great ! This Beauty looks to have been in storage or was definitely not ridden much at all & Currently ...She is "Running Great" She has not been ridden much in recent years I think the more you run her the better she will run ! ....
