Kawasaki claims that the new Voyager was inspired by 1960s sports cars, but I suspect it would struggle to say exactly which cars inspired any particular aspects. That's because the bike is clearly inspired by – and pitched directly against – Harley-Davidson's Electra Glide Ultra.Many would be hard pushed to tell them apart, suggesting that Kawasaki has at least got the styling right. For all its kitsch appearance, the Voyager is a convincing rival visually.Where many bikes fail in taking on Harley, however, is in matching other qualities of the troubled Milwaukee marque. To be convincing, the Voyager must be an effective tourer and have a good stab at matching the less easily defined qualities that have persuaded more than 50 per cent of big-bike buyers in the States to buy Harley-Davidsons.Some of the detailing will be given nods of approval, such as the white-on-black, simple serif script on the clocks, the chunky chrome ignition switch and of course the overall look of the big V-twin engine, which looks air-cooled even though there's liquid and a tucked-away radiator.But when it comes to feel, the Voyager isn't quite there. The top box, for example, is made of flimsy plastic with cheap catches that were already rusting on my test bike, while the lock wouldn't defeat a nine-year-old. The panniers are of similar quality and out of place on a near-£14,000 motorcycleThe gearchange is too far in the other direction, with a very heavy feel. The clutch's biting point is vague, making tight manoeuvres harder work than they need be, while the engine lacks the rawness of a Harley. That's a difficult criticism to make (many riders would find the smoother Kawasaki preferable) but for me the essence of Harley is the balance between crudeness and sophistication.Like a Harley, the Voyager's top gear is overdrive-tall, poviding a relaxed feel at motorway speeds. But the height of the unadjustable screen cuts right across the field of vision for taller riders such as myself. Even if you are able to look through it, there's no way of clearing rain drops from it – with a layer of winter road sludge, forward visibility is going to be a real issue.If you can see over the top, there's a relentless vibrating turbulence at anything over 80mph, and since the riding position could well induce backache, longer distances can become more tiring than they should. The seat pushed me too far forward, while the forward footboards didn't allow me to take any weight through my legs.There's plenty of Harley-type equipment, including a radio with ambient sound compensation which is surprisingly clear even at high speeds, although it lacks RDS station recognition which is almost universal these days. There are no rear speakers though, the sound is a lot less clear for the pillion. The passenger's legs rub on the bike's paintwork, too, although it's a comfortable place to be. I'm not keen on the radio buttons elbowing the horn push out of its usual place, while the equally busy right switch cluster includes cruise control, which is useful if sometimes jerky when it engages.As with a Harley, there's a lot of heat coming off the engine. This will be welcome in winter but too much, I suspect, on hot summer days.The bike handles well; neutral right down to walking pace and very stable at high speeds – not like a Harley, for once, and all the better for that. However the underdamped suspension can bounce you around on rougher roads, while the 4.4-gallon tank means that you'll need to worry about refuelling after only 150 miles, despite the Harley-beating 40mpg the bike returns.What you get on the Kawasaki is a consistency of quality that Harley still struggles with. The finish and detailing are to a high standard generally (luggage aside) and you know you won't start seeing major components corrode as soon as you roll it out of the showroom. This automobile was made from 1946 to 1953 and based on the 1945 Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster. The chassis featured independent front suspension using torsion bars and a live rear axle with leaf springs. A Girling hydro-mechanical braking system was fitted, with the front drums hydraulically operated while those at the rear used rod and cable. The four seat, two door body was made of steel and aluminum panel fitted over a wood and aluminum frame. The doors were rear hinged, an arrangement that got the name of suicide doors. In Barn-Find condition, but runs well! 1935 Rudge Tourist 250cc Engine #: T139 Frame #: 54569 Motorcycle manufacturers from 1910 to 1939, Rudge were renowned for their championing of the four-valves-per-cylinder engine layout, employing it for the first time on a 250 in 1932. The Rudge 250 was unusual for its day in having coil rather than magneto ignition, though the latter became optional later. A two-valve Tourist 250 joined the range for 1935; becoming the Rapid the following year when the model adopted the marque's characteristic coupled brakes. With the deletion of the four-valver, the Rapid became the sole 250 (a Sports version with high-level exhaust was added for 1938) and the only Rudge to retain the left-side gear pedal to the end. ? The bike offered here has been languishing in a shed since 1978 when the owner purchased it from Brian Slark of the Barber Museum and formerly Norton Villiers, who presumably brought it here from the UK. ? The machine is a pretty rare bike even in the UK, so this is a great opportunity to acquire a more or less complete example of a rare, one-year model and know that it is likely to be the only one at any concours or rally. 2012 Victory Hard Ball, Matte Black with Red pinstriping paint finish, 6-speed overdrive, 106 ci (1731 cc), Ape-hangar handlebars, 21 Gallons of hard bagger storage. For sale by original owner. I do have the Title. It is a NC Title. I purchased the bike at a Victory dealer in La Marque, TX. Only 4,128 miles. 1,000-mile and 5,000-mile services completed at dealership. It is currently under warranty, but the warranty is non-transferrable. It does have two minor knicks, but both are virtually imperceptible if you're not standing next to the bike, looking for them. The smallest one is ~1/4 inch x ~1/8 inch, in the clear coat only, on the right side of the tank. The other is a scuff on the back of the left saddlebag. But the scuff is also black, and so it's hard to tell that it's there unless you're looking for it. I have posted pictures of those. And you can see a parking sticker on the plastic part on the right side of the fairing. I will remove that. Otherwise in excellent condition. Aftermarket Features: 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Victory Cross Roads Fairing Kit, Victory Quick Release Passenger Backrest, Witchdoctors Lowering Kit, Victory Low Rider Heated Seat (also have original seat), Victory X-Model Modified Exhaust System and Flat Black Hot Rod Exhaust Tips. As for the Fairing, I did not attempt to attach music, but it does have speakers you can hook up. P/N 2878556 I had a Rick Fairless Victory X-Model Modified Exhaust System installed, along with Victory Flat Black Hot Rod Exhaust Tips, and a high performance, cleanable air filter that is made to last 100,000 miles. This type of installation also required an EAC Victory recalibration kit to adjust the intake levels, to boost the efficiency of the exhaust system, and give it that loud, thundering rumble that lets everyone around you know you’re there. This was a pricy upgrade, but well worth it. There are several types of affordable motorcycle transport available, and I leave it to the discretion of the buyer to secure whatever shipping method is desired. The 851, with its powerful liquid-cooled eight-valve V-twin engine, the signature steel tube trellis frame, the brembo brakes and marzocchi suspension...heralded the start of the modern era for Ducati. Previous superbikes from Bologna had been powered by air-cooled V-twin engines. Many had used the marque's unique desmodromic system. which closes the valves with cams instead of the conventional springs. But the 85!. with its four-valve heads and fuel-injection, was a considerably more modern and powerful unit. Chief engineer Massimo Bordi had been determined to create an eight-valve Desmo twin, something his famous predecessor Fabio Tagliorti had always resisted. Bordi's 85 lcc engine retained Ducati's traditional 90-degrec V-twin layout. Liquid cooling, Weber-Marelli injection and the improved breathing of the new cylinder heads gave plenty of mid-range torque and a maximum output in excess of 100bhp. making this the most powerful Ducati roadster yet. Indian (motorcycle) Factory Information and History Indian is an American brand of motorcycles originally manufactured from 1901 to 1953 by a company in Springfield MA, US, initially known as the Hendee Manufacturing Company but which was renamed the Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company in 1928. The Indian factory team took the first three places in the 1911 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy. During the 1910s Indian became the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. Indian's most popular models were the Scout, made from 1920 to 1946, and the Chief, made from 1922 to 1953. The Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company went bankrupt in 1953. A number of successor organizations have perpetuated the name in subsequent years, with limited success.
