This bike is pretty original with accessories that every BMW enthusiast will appreciate like engine crash bars, Denfeld solo seat complemented with the Pagusa in the back (stock factory setup). Bike comes with 2 ignition keys, original owners manual and Shop Manual. "The BMW R 69 S VIN 658506 was manufactured on February 10th, 1964 and delivered on February 14th, 1964 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat." The BMW R69S, produced from 1960 to 1969, was BMW’s sport bike of its day. With 42 horsepower, it was by far the most powerful bike BMW made at the time. You had to pay to play ($1,564 in 1966), but that extra money bought you one of the most prestigious motorcycles available in the day. This is one of my favorite motorcycles of the 1960’s. But I’ll leave the explanation of why that is to Cycle World, who put it best in a 1962 review: "Whatever the BMW’s merits in a contest of speed, it is still the smoothest, best finished, quietest and cleanest motorcycle it has ever been our pleasure to ride. To be honest, we think that anyone who would worry much over its performance-potential is a bit of a booby. The R69S is fast enough to handle any encounter, and it has attributes that are, in touring, infinitely more valuable than mere speed. All things considered, if we were planning a two-wheel style vacation/tour, the BMW would have to be our choice of mount." It is a very nice and all serviced up bike. I have notes of the service work that have been performed by the previous owner in 03/1993 and only 500 miles ago. "The BMW R 60/2 VIN 1812208 was manufactured on December 15th, 1966 and delivered on December 16th, 1966 to the BMW importer Butler & Smith in New York City. The bike was equipped with a bench seat." Bike was sold originally in 1967 hence it was titled as 1967 and that was a common practice back in the days. Matching frame, engine, tag and title numbers. It is a very honest bike, one of the nicest riding and looking pre-1970 BMW bikes I have had in my collection. It is all original bike w/o any mods. This bike has been stored in various conditions in its life and it shows. It is quite clean machine, not perfect but a great every day runner. The motor has had a recent top end disassembled, inspected, one helicoil professionally installed at the machine shop for the right side spark plug. New rings were installed, new top end gaskets and seals, torqued back to factory specs. Valves and timing was set, carbs re-adjusted. Clutch and brakes work well, gearbox goes through all 4 gears as it should. Lights, also all work as intended. I disassembled the horn, cleaned but did not get it to work, I will try again but no promises. Bike may need new rear tire as I have noticed some weather cracking, front tire is like new. You are looking at a 1929 JDH 2 cam "cut down." (bobber these days). This bike has been a cut down ,I believe, about 80 years. There were only 100 of these Harley-Davidson motorcycles made in 1928 and 29. The 1929 crash and depression was on it's way and these Harleys were about 200 bucks more expensive so they didn't sell well. Better for us, I guess. It has 3 speeds and original rear stand and new chain, sprockets and clutch. A couple sets of points and some rear brake lining goes with this Harley.I got invited to the 2012 Canon ball run but our house caught fire and I had to rebuild it, so couldn't go. My preparation for the canonball was to completely rebuild the transmission which was done by Steve Lipoldt, rebuild the generator, with nos parts, done at Harbor Vintage in Vermont and to get the original coil rewound with, get this, 7500 feet of .0015 wire. New plug wires. These bikes had dual headlights as new but this one only has one with original taillight. It's been painted black & white for a very long time. It has two extra taillights I added to the rear. Can't have too much light back there. It has the rectangular dash, not the triangle dash with ammeter as some had. This 1929 was the second year of the front brake. With these old front brakes the bike went faster when it was pulled ;-). It now has a 1968 BSA double leading shoe front brake that stops great. Both wheels and tires are 400/18" Dunlop K70s (C pic). which handle and ride great. This bike is very nimble handling. The handlebars and spirals are re-manufactured with all new inner and outer cables. The grips are just tape like riders did back then. This machine has been completely rewired. It has switch and fuse on the ground wire for fast shutoff if needed, There is no speedo but there's no more that 600 miles on the motor and only about 100 miles on the other rebuilt items.This Harley is for sale on 3 other sites, Europe. plus locally so this auction may end without notice so if ya want or need a very very rare old museum piece or a daily rider, bid...ah nobody hasta tell ya that. This model with triple matching vin# and in Dover White color is getting constantly rare and is believed to be one of the best vintage single cylinder machine produced by the BMW. This numbers matching, cosmetically original ( still has pinstriper initial under the tank), totally mechanically serviced, and sound BMW R27 clocks only 9K miles. This cycle has recently had top end re-sealed with new gaskets and seals. It starts easily and runs great. Motorcycle is a survivor quite cosmetically challenged condition as it has never been restored in any way except some touch-ups here and there. Matching triple serial numbers, original Dover White paint, Denfeld Dual seats and more......... This particular example is beautiful with many additions a real BMW enthusiast will appreciate. Ride as is or restore to pristine condition. Some history of the above mentioned motorcycle: "The BMW R 27 was manufactured on Sept. 1st of 1964 and was delivered to Butler & Smith in New York on the 21st of December 1964. The bike was equipped with a bench seat." "Based largely on the R26, in 1960 the R27 added rubber mounts for the engine and boosted power to 18 hp (13 kW). The R27's 250 cc vertical single was the only rubber-mounted thumper engine BMW ever produced, and was their last shaft drive single-cylinder motorcycle. The engine pumped out 18 hp (13 kW), the highest ever for a shaft-drive BMW single. BMW manufactured 15,364 R27 models (engine numbers 372 001 -- 387 566 ) over the production years of 1960 to 1966. Some of the 1966 R27 models were sold as 1967 models because dealers in those years often would assign dates to BMW motorcycles when they sold them, and not necessarily when they were manufactured. The vast majority of R27 motorcycles exported to the United States by BMW were black with white pinstriping. A few, however, were brought in by importer Butler & Smith in a color called Dover white, with black pinstriping. Why "Dover white?" Butler & Smith head honcho, Michael Bondy, had a 1942 Packard automobile in an off-white color called dover white. Bondy sent a sample of this color to BMW AG in Munich and asked that it be duplicated. BMW did copy the color, and Bondy ordered fifty motorcycles in that color. Today, BMW motorcycles in original dover white are a sought-after rarity. BMW did things differently from other manufacturers. This is evident in the R27. Its enclosed shaft final drive is rare for a single cylinder motorcycle. But it also had a triangulated Earles front fork (named after English designer Ernest Earles); so the motorcycle had a front swingarm as well as a rear swingarm. When you squeezed the front brake lever hard not only did the front end not dive, it actually rose slightly. Thus, braking was a very steady activity, though the brakes were weak by today's standards. The engines crankshaft was laid out fore-to-aft, not side- to-side; also a rare feature. This way, the crank and the final shaft were in line, and drive forces did not have to be run through a set of 90-degree gears. Also, the kick starter swung out sideways instead of parallel to the frame, so kick starting an R27 is a rather easy and danger-free affair." It pains me to write this. This bike is my baby and has given me 20K miles of unbelievable experiences. I am the second owner and the bike now has 43,000 miles. Just recently, I put 120 miles on it through rural Vermont including the Champlain Islands. Unfortunately, I have developed a medical condition which is forcing me to sell it. I have a nerve issue in my thigh that is exacerbated by riding. This was confirmed again on my ride today so I need to stop. My loss is your gain. This particular bike is ready for a long haul trip to Yukon or as a reliable daily commuter. About the modelThe Caponord is a versatile adventure touring bike that is equally competent cruising highways at high speed, carving turns on mountain passes, and riding dirt logging trails. Similar to a BMW GS, the Caponord is more nimble because it is only 1000cc vs 1200cc. The bike has a bombproof Rotax v-twin engine that is rock solid making 98 horsepower with 71.5 ft/lbs of torque into a 6-speed transmission and a chain drive. It has switchable ABS. It is plenty fast and super fun to ride. It has a substantial fairing and handguards so it can be comfortable to ride in cold and rain. About this particular bikeI am the second owner and purchased the bike with 20K on it. It has been serviced regularly by authorized Aprilia dealers and performs as expected. It has never been crashed or laid down. I have had zero mechanical issues with it. It has the stock exhaust and is the desirable black color. I trust this bike to never let me down and have ridden it to the top of Mount Washington NH, Whiteface NY, Bailey Island, and Moosehead Lake, Maine. I took it to Finland when I lived there and did a 1800 mile trip to the top of Norway to Nordkapp, the origin of the Caponord name. Three weekends ago, I took my 76 year old Aunt on a ride to Rangeley, Maine. Needless to say, I have great confidence in the machine and trust it completely. ConditionI have taken great care of this bike and had it serviced regularly through Aprilia Authorized dealers. The 40K mile service was done on 1/22/2015. Tires are class leading Michelin Pilot Road 3 Trail tires, a 90/10 tire that is ultra grippy on tarmac and very good in the wet. They are in good shape and certainly will last through this season. Rear tire was replaced 7/2014 at 37,800mi. Brakes are great. Front and rear rotors and pads were replaced with OE original Brembos 3/2012 at 26,500mi. Pads have been changed since. Chain and cogs are in good shape and were replaced 7/2012 at 29,800 miles. Chain tension and lube are regularly checked. I just had the Vermont state inspection done on 8/26 and it is ready for another year of riding. Cosmetics: this bike is in great shape but it has been ridden and shows signs of use: There are a few minor scratches on the tank, some on the foot brake reservoir, some paint chipping on the clutch reservoir (as expected), some rust on spoke tips, a scratch on the left pannier (see photo), wear on left hand grip, wear on footpeg extensions, and minor wear on each pannier from aggressive cornering. Be sure to check the photos. UpgradesI have worked hard to make this bike my own and it comes with some great upgrades: $500 E52 Givi Box and attachment rack$500 Custom Saddlemen Adventure Track Seat$350 LED driving lights$200 Givi windshield and laminar lip (I also have the stock windshield)$550 Hepco and Becker frame guards$150 Heated grips with hazard light switch (the hazard switch does not work)$100 hard wired for a Garmin Zumo$75 K+N air filter$150 Marsee expandable tank bag All told, there are close to $2750 in upgrades here. Additionally, it also comes with 2 complete sets of keys, a battery tender plug in, deer whistles, red light changer magnet, blind spot mirrors, SOLAS reflective tape to make the bike super visible, and Aprilia valve caps. It also comes with a spare kickstand switch and headlight light bulb (two things to never be without). ServicingThe authorized Aprilia dealer Seacoast in NH will pick the bike up for servicing for only a fee of $20 each way. I used the service twice for my routine maintenance. They came to my house and loaded the bike in a Sprinter van, serviced the bike at the dealership in NH, and then returned it in the Sprinter. This makes owning the Caponord, even without a local dealer, very easy! TransportingI have a trailer and am willing to help with getting the bike to within three hours of Burlington, VT. Also, I live 10 minutes from the Burlington airport (BTV) and am happy to meet you there. Riding in Vermont is wonderful so you could make picking up your bike the start of a Northern New England road tour: Whiteface, NY is 2 hours away. Mount Washington is 2.5 hours. Bar Harbor Maine is 8 hours. Quebec City is 5 hours. Montreal is 2 hours. PricingKBB has this bike at $5015. Mid point of retail for NADA is $5700. 1972 Suzuki GT 750 LeMans Water Buffalo You are bidding to buy my 1972 Suzuki GT750 LeMans. VIN: GT750-28802 Manufacture Date: 5/72 This bike is a true vintage time capsule. It still has the period sissy bar, luggage rack and the all important King/Qeen seat for the 2 of you to ride and cruise in luxury back in the day!! When I purchased this bike the owner said it ran great and he had parked it a few years ago due to health issues. I put a battery in it and she started right up and runs!! It shifts through the gears and brakes. The bike needs a restoration. I am not going to kid you. But, it is pretty much all there minus the headlight bulb and correct seat and bars. The side covers are perfect with no cracks. The tank has a dent in it as pictured. The exhaust mufflers are very nice as you can see and they still have the tips in the ends which is very rare and hard to find. The tires are newer and look very good. These bikes are a 3 cylinder, liquid cooled, 2 stroke. The engine was actually taken right from the Suzuki factory road racers and modified to suit the street use purpose. These bikes are pretty fast. I rode my last GT750 on a 2000 mile road trip in 1993 and never had a problem with it. I did have a title to this bike from the previous owner. I moved a few months ago and now I am having a problem finding titles that I had to my bikes. If I find it, you get it. If not, I will give you a Bill of Sale Notorized. Remember, all 50 states do have a program for getting a title to a bike. You can also get a Registration from Vermont and that will serve to get you a new title in all 50 states.
